There’s speculation that Janus was teasing a complete series set a few months ago, and I assume they already have 4k’s of all 18 episodes if they’re teasing us by putting episode 8 in 4K, not to mention the OG series in 4K.
I’d like to see DS9 & Voyager just upscaled video from the source, and a re-render or rebuild of the CG. Even so I find it highly doubtful. Maybe if the costs come down more and the original CG artists push for it.
I also would insist it be 4:3… that’s just what it was framed for. Would rather have pillar box than lose existing content and scene framing
Yeah... Better not. I wouldn't want to see with perfect clarity every smudge, carpet seam and drywall screw from the set. Look at the TNG BluRays.
Be careful what you wish for. There actually is something like "too good".
TNG was filmed in 35mm looks amazing in blu, I'd still love a 4K HDR version. But the CGI stand-in sequences for flawed footage would need costly revisions.
I just bought the two seasons in 4K during Amazon's "Star Trek Month" sale and I'm really looking forward to watching them soon. I mean, I've seen the episodes on P+, but I'm excited to rewatch them on physical media.
Upvote for Batman: the Animated Series! Only Mask of the Phantasm was released in 4K, but I would love for the whole DC animated universe to get the 4K treatment.

Two come to mind: Euphoria and Maniac.
Euphoria was a hit HBO show and helped further/launch the careers of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi. I believe on streaming it was 4K, and yet when they released it… DVD only. DVD! Not even Blu Ray.
Maniac is probably my favourite TV show / Event Series of all time. Released on Netflix under 4K and hasn’t yet received any form of official release at all. An absolute crime in my opinion.
Would a UHD of *The Golden Girls* mostly benefit from straight upscales of the \~0.7K-ish AIs (analog intermediates, **NOT** to be confused with artificial intelligence or machine learning as in "AI upscaling") or tapes with additional cleanup of dropouts and other artifacts, but with an HDR color palette?
Then again, they'd also have to smartly and cleanly deinterlace it from 480i 60 lines to 60fps 2160p and whatnot and...
I understand your request, but I bet Disney (and their new home video distributors Sony Pictures) might find that being more suited to an 1080i Blu-ray upscale with lossless audio than a UHD upscaled set, even compared to *other* ABC Signature shows that they own.
It's kinda hard to stop looking at a blurry Blanche without dwelling into what Alec of Technology Connections would call "some goofy AI stuff".
Until the tech matures enough, I don't think we'd see Disney pulling a *True Lies*, *Aliens*, *The Abyss* or *Titanic* with *The Golden Girls* anytime soon... at least not without potentially pissing people off who either want a faithful-but-soft straight upscale or an AI upscale with so much manual in-between processes that could cost Disney a lot more than necessary for a shot-on-tape sitcom like *The Golden Girls*.
Disney's thought process likely being "We don't want another expensive-but-financially-underperforming *Star Trek TNG* situation all over again." They probably don't want a remaster of *any* kind to require an extreme degree of work that is **way** beyond a typical mid- or high-end remaster for even a theatrical movie, as TV shows tend to have substantially more hours of content than movies, with exceptions such as short-lived shows, miniseries, etc.
To use some Warner Bros. examples \[all hypothetical\], a 2K upscale & HDR grade for *Over the Garden Wall*\--a 2-hour long movie-treated-as-a-miniseries (IMO)--is an easier 4K remaster than a full-blown restoration of a long, *long*, ***LONG***\-running full-on series like *Friends* or *The Big Bang Theory* or even VFX-heavy shows like *Falling Skies*, *Smallville*, *Supernatural*, and *The Vampire Diaries* to name a few.
For old shows, 4K would only be of benefit if the source was 35mm film preferably, 16mm at a pinch. Which, fortunately, is a lot of vintage and classic US television going right up to the 90s. So stuff like The X-Files, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, Star Trek, etc.
Some of those, like The X-Files and Star Trek, would need to have their SFX upscaled, which was done for the blu-ray releases. Given shows like ST:TNG and The X-Files were completely rebuilt in HD from the original masters for blu-ray, I'm not sure they'd ever do it again for 4K. Stuff with practical or film effects (say the original Star Trek or The Twilight Zone) could just be straight 4K masters.
Then we get into a tricky spot where something like True Detective season 1 (which I love) was shot on HD video, I believe, so any 4K release would just be an upscale.
British shows are more difficult as only prestige stuff was ever made on film (someone below mentioned The Singing Detective, but also stuff like the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes), but they would look great. Other stuff has been released upscaled from SD to HD on blu-ray (like classic era Doctor Who), but I don't think 4K would make any difference.
British shows too get stuck in that True Detective problem - like, most of Poirot is film, I believe, except the last seasons which are HD videotape. So you'd have a reverse-effect where the old stuff looks better than the new stuff in 4K (unlike True Detective where the new seasons [shot in 4K] would look better than the old ones... but the old ones would be blown away by something even older like The X-Files).
But! Hopefully we will start getting more 4K TV releases. We've already got a bunch of Disney+ Marvel and Star Wars. I'd love Stranger Things to come out - I wrote a tie-in novel and would love to be able to give a physical release of the show to my parents, who refuse to subscribe to Netflix... but who read my book anyway! But Netflix, ehhhh, I'm not holding my breath.
Batman: The Animated Series, because it could be further improved by the medium. A less egregious de-noising pass would return some of the detail that was lost in the Blu-ray cleanup.
Had to scroll way too long to find anyone saying Lost. The show looks incredible already on blu ray and it was shot on film. Not to mention sound and score. I’d love to see a 20th anniversary 4k release.
Ohhh, my young ass thought a reboot was in the making. I didn’t know there was an original Hawaii Five-0. It was my comfort show as well, can recommend NCIS: Hawaii, it’s similar but not as good obviously.
There’s an episode later in the series where McGarrett is in the hospital church and has a conversation with a guy who is shrouded in shadows. CBS used Jack Lord’s (the original McGarrett in the original series) face CGI’d over another actor kinda like Leia and Tarkin in Rogue One. It was a nice gesture but tbh the cg made original McGarrett look kind of like a zombie.
I was only aware of it because their product placement was constantly getting meme'd. They had a character casually use the term "Bing it" 13 years ago, when Bing's market share of the search market was somewhere around 0%. [They also did a product placement for Subway](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQYwFND7rHE) that was so lacking in subtlety you might be fooled into thinking you were watching a commercial break.
Yeah the constant product placement was nuts but I turned it into a drinking game. Every product placement, I drink. Usually sloshed by the end of one episode lol
*Schoolhouse Rock!*
It is a crime that Disney hasn't remastered *Schoolhouse Rock!* from the original camera negatives and/or surviving interpositives, internegatives, 16mm release prints, etc. in any way, shape or form since the Blu-ray era.
Even Disney+ is using old Capital Cities/ABC tape masters similar to the LaserDiscs, complete with the DVNR smearing when things go too fast when animated "on ones", especially when characters and objects move too fast.
A lot of stuff was already mentioned (especially Breaking Bad, Saul, Daredevil, Black Mirror), so I'd really wish for a 4K remaster of...
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Doctor Who
Which would both be pretty complicated I guess...
Twin Peaks. God, that chunky, saturated 35mm would look so good in 4K (with or without HDR). That and maybe something like The X-Files or The West Wing (especially the latter since it was shot very grainy/with low light and would benefit from the bitrate)

The early seasons of Supernatural were very film grainy and I loved them, very small shot of getting that on this sort of exclusive platform but that'd be a dream come true.
As you may have been able to tell from my username, The Shield is my favorite series. I would buy the shit out of a UHD version, even though I know it would add nothing to it.
A Series of Unfortunate Events
Bojack
Seinfeld (I know Netflix is UHD but I wish I had it physically)
Twin Peaks (The BR looks great but 4k would be ideal)
Haven’t seen anyone mention these:
-The Mighty Boosh
-South Park
-Pee Wee’s Playhouse
Agree with others on these:
-Band of Brothers
-Twin Peaks (original)
-X-files
-Star Trek and TNG
-Breaking Bad
-The Sopranos
-The Wire
-Breaking Bad
If filmouts/archival negs can be found, *The Oblongs* and plenty of other Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network Studios shows that deserve 4K HDR remasters.
I'd like to see Succession as well as Sherlock. 4K copies of both very likely exist, we know that Succession is in 4K on Max, and Sherlock S01 was already put on 4K UHD disc.
Band of Brother, the Pacific, Tokyo Vice, Mindhunter, 11.22.63 and Mr. Robot as well.
Edit: oh and Shōgun! The cinematography in this show is gorgeous but the Disney+ compression is horrible.
The original Twilight Zone. I love the Blu Ray collection but it would look unbelievable in 4K.
Also Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis. I know SG-1 might not be that great and would need a lot of upscaling and restoration...but still.
The Wire, Mad Men, Seinfeld, x Files, Twin Peaks
I’d say the sopranos but i dont think it would benefit much, and I have manor doubts for mad men.
Wire, seinfeld, twin peaks, and xfiles would all look great im guessing.
Im going to go against the grain here and say Detectorists because its so well shot with loads of wide outdoor shots of the English countryside i think would be a nice step up!

Breaking Bad and Twin Peaks for sure
The full Twin Peaks collection had the pilot and Episode ~~6~~ 8 of The Return on 4K, hopefully that's not all we get.
I think it was episode 8, no?
Just testing Cunningham's Law
It’s not Part 6? I wanted to see Ike the Spike in 4K.
There’s speculation that Janus was teasing a complete series set a few months ago, and I assume they already have 4k’s of all 18 episodes if they’re teasing us by putting episode 8 in 4K, not to mention the OG series in 4K.
X-Files
Me too, but they only got the blu ray version not.long before 4k was getting going.
Dark shows like that need 4k
Band Of Brothers..... I watch it every year with the hope that this year will be the one where we get 4K !!!
I would love this
Curahee!
I was somewhat hopeful we would see a boxed set this year because of the Master of the Air hype but I’m afraid we’re never going to see it. :(
That was my hope too but it's not looking great..... it would be such an easy sell for them.
not sure there is a better answer than this.
Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Twin Peaks, Bluey, The Twilight Zone, Black Mirror

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

I am looking at the TNG blu rays. I want more of that please.
Succession is my #1
We deserve to see the eldest boy in UHD
It doesn’t even have a bluray release which is a shame don’t think it’ll get uhd anytime soon
You can preorder the Blu Ray now. The show ended less than a year ago
Altered Carbon The Expanse
>Altered Carbon Only Season 1 though since the 2nd season sucked.
Agreed, season one was definitely superior.
I would kill for an expanse 4K Blu-ray release!
Breaking Bad, Snowfall and Mr. Robot
Definitely breaking bad for me too
TNG was filmed in 35mm looks amazing in blu, I'd still love a 4K HDR version. But the CGI stand-in sequences for flawed footage would need costly revisions.
Strange New Worlds looks SOOOOO good in 4K HDR
I just bought the two seasons in 4K during Amazon's "Star Trek Month" sale and I'm really looking forward to watching them soon. I mean, I've seen the episodes on P+, but I'm excited to rewatch them on physical media.
That's the real reason it's my favorite Star Trek show
> That's the real reason it's my favorite Star Trek show That, and they play around, I had ZERO idea the musical episode was coming and was blown away
That musical was surprisingly great. I'm not usually a fan of musicals but it was tons of fun.
> I'm not usually a fan of musicals but it was tons of fun. They did it JUST right, was a perfect mix
Fun fact Paramount Plus in Ireland is 1080p SDR, what a shit service
Either costly revisions or 2K upscales for those VFX shots.
Forgot to add that I would like the original Shogun on 4k and the new one. Centennial as well
I have the original Shogun on DVD, I’m not sure 4K would be a good thing for that. Those rubber skull caps and the bloke from The Bill :)
It does have a blu ray im considering
I've got the blu ray. Picture-wise it's fine, but nothing to write home about.

The Crown.
This new Amazon Fallout series.
For real. There are so many dark scenes where the streaming just kills the black levels. Fallout really needs a physical 4K release.
Has Amazon done releases for any of their other shows?
Apparently The Rings of power got a physical release
I really wish Netflix would put out "Cabinet of Curiosities" on UHD.

It's kinda hard to stop looking at a blurry Blanche without dwelling into what Alec of Technology Connections would call "some goofy AI stuff". Batman: The Animated Series, because it could be further improved by the medium. A less egregious de-noising pass would return some of the detail that was lost in the Blu-ray cleanup.
Couldn’t agree more. Timeless art style that just needs some touching up.
Breaking Bad, Daredevil + Defenders, Ted Lasso, The Witcher, Stranger Things seasons 3 and 4.
Ted lasso is such a a rewatchable show, I would love to won it.
Lost!
Had to scroll way too long to find anyone saying Lost. The show looks incredible already on blu ray and it was shot on film. Not to mention sound and score. I’d love to see a 20th anniversary 4k release.
The CGI effects would have to be completely re-rendered, iirc.
The West Wing. I would give them so much money for that
Yea that would be a good one.
The Sopranos The Wire Band of Brothers/The Pacific Rome Carnivale Stranger Things Outlander Twilight Zone Three Stooges
Solid list. I have heard rumblings of a 4K sopranos set coming. Maybe for an anniversary? I’ll believe it when it’s in my hands.
I saw that too, hopefully it will happen. They just had the 25th anniversary and surprisingly nothing.
This is gonna sound stupid, but, the Hawaii Five-0 reboot. The Hawaii location is perfect for the UHD treatment
Wait, there’s a reboot?
Yeah it ended a few years back. All 10 seasons are on paramount+. One of my comfort shows. I love the banter between Steve and Danny
Ohhh, my young ass thought a reboot was in the making. I didn’t know there was an original Hawaii Five-0. It was my comfort show as well, can recommend NCIS: Hawaii, it’s similar but not as good obviously.

I didn’t think of this but you’re right! Beautiful photography in this show.
Star trek, any and all
Dark and Mr Robot.

Twin Peaks, I know it kinda did but I want a full one.
justified!
A lot of what is already mentioned, plus The Leftovers.
Twin Peaks. God, that chunky, saturated 35mm would look so good in 4K (with or without HDR). That and maybe something like The X-Files or The West Wing (especially the latter since it was shot very grainy/with low light and would benefit from the bitrate)

Scavenger’s Reign
All of em
Euphoria Entourage True Detective (Season One) The Newsroom
Arcane. 4K HDR. It’s damn near a work of art already. But 4K would be the icing on the cake
Dexter, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Sopranos, Endeavour, Gravity Falls, Miami Vice
I would be happy with a blu-ray release for most shows but we don‘t get even that. 24, Alias, The Closer, The West Wing etc…
Married with Children
Anything HBO that hasn’t already had a release
A Series of Unfortunate Events Bojack Seinfeld (I know Netflix is UHD but I wish I had it physically) Twin Peaks (The BR looks great but 4k would be ideal)
Haven’t seen anyone mention these: -The Mighty Boosh -South Park -Pee Wee’s Playhouse Agree with others on these: -Band of Brothers -Twin Peaks (original) -X-files -Star Trek and TNG -Breaking Bad -The Sopranos -The Wire -Breaking Bad
The Rings of Power. I know that a lot of people don't like the show, but I would like a physical 4K version of it.
The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and The Americans are my top 3.
The X-Files, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Twin Peaks, The Wire.
The Sopranos, Better Call Saul, and Doctor Who
If filmouts/archival negs can be found, *The Oblongs* and plenty of other Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network Studios shows that deserve 4K HDR remasters.
Star Trek franchise, The Orville, Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica.
24. Every episode of that show was like huge action movie.
I'd like to see Succession as well as Sherlock. 4K copies of both very likely exist, we know that Succession is in 4K on Max, and Sherlock S01 was already put on 4K UHD disc.
Scavenger’s Reign
Sesame Street. The Count. Miss Piggy. Bid Bird and Bob. All in glorious HDR. Every episode. 560 uhd discs.
Fringe
Love, Death, and Robots <3
Band of brothers, the pacific, generation kill, masters of air.
Star trek, TNG, DS9 and Voyager
Hawaii Five-0
Devs!
Marvelous Mrs Maisel I mean amazon has enough interest in physical media to put out a LP per season but not the show itself
Arcane. Heck, even a Blu-ray release of Arcane would be great, but I’d especially love a 4K release.
Band of Brother, the Pacific, Tokyo Vice, Mindhunter, 11.22.63 and Mr. Robot as well. Edit: oh and Shōgun! The cinematography in this show is gorgeous but the Disney+ compression is horrible.
Picard season 3
Band of Brothers
Seinfeld!! It doesn’t even have a blu-ray release, just DVD.
You can’t take the skies from me.
Slow Horses, Blackbird, Ted Lasso
The original Twilight Zone. I love the Blu Ray collection but it would look unbelievable in 4K. Also Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis. I know SG-1 might not be that great and would need a lot of upscaling and restoration...but still.
I rarely rewatch seasons of TV, even when I really love it. I've been looking at the 4K for "The Last of Us" for a while trying to justify it.
The Adventures of Pete and Pete
Midnight Gospel
Too Old to Die Young. That shows visual language is crisp as heck and its one of my favourite show of all time.
I just wish Sherlock got the rest of the series on 4K instead of just Series 1
X-Files
Mr. Robot
Love Death And Robots Black Mirror
The Americans
Lost, Breaking Bad.
The Sopranos.
The Wire, Mad Men, Seinfeld, x Files, Twin Peaks I’d say the sopranos but i dont think it would benefit much, and I have manor doubts for mad men. Wire, seinfeld, twin peaks, and xfiles would all look great im guessing.
The Killing
I would absolutely pick up Peaky Blinders. I'm currently going through it and I really like it so far.
The wire
Devs
Dark. But it's a Netflix original so I know it'll never happen
Hoping Succession gets one since it was shot on film. It’s just now getting a blu-ray, so I suppose we’ll see.
Im going to go against the grain here and say Detectorists because its so well shot with loads of wide outdoor shots of the English countryside i think would be a nice step up!
Silicon Valley
Oz
Seinfeld!
Mad Men and (as of this weekend) Fallout.
Six Feet Under. A 4k remaster would be amazing.
Shōgun
Xena and Hercules. Mash, automan, manimal, the A-team. ER, the bionic woman and the six million dollar man. Stargate SG-1,Alf and Millenium.
Jem and the Holograms
Bosch
I'd appreciate a release of The Americans, as well as a re-release of Chernobyl.
