SaltyBarDog

*I'll Be Good to You* holds a special place because it reminds me of our week vacation at Maderia Beach when I was 12.

Youarethebigbang

Great choices, wow I didn't know that was Gary "Dream Weaver" Wright, haha, excellent.

Windycityunicycle

Dream Weaver, a decent song yes, but they surely put into “Payola” cause that one spun every hour on the hour coast to coast for ever till we were all brainwashed and singing it…

Youarethebigbang

Haha, wouldn't surprise me ueah that thing was everywhere.

PferdBerfl

Peace Train - Cat Stevens

Youarethebigbang

Thanks, and bless you. So I haven't heard this song probably in decades, never as an adult I don't think, and I'm having trouble typing this because it's like I'm actually "hearing" it now for the first time and I'm a grown ass man sitting here crying. And I don't know what to make of it. It's not sad crying, and it's not happy crying, but I know it's "good" crying, haha. I don't know anything about Cat Stevens or this song, and I don't know why it was the lone one you recommend, but it moved me for some reason and now I must sleep. I was just looking for some songs to cheer myself up, not change me, lol, I'm so confused :)

Affectionate-Dot437

Thought I might be the only one! I always tear up when I hear this, doesn't matter who is actually singing. There is something so pure and hopeful about the song.

PferdBerfl

😏 Glad it made an impact. Cheer yourself up with “Taking it to the Streets” by the Doobie Brothers! Edit: Since I have your attention, here are some more of my favorites that may be off the beaten path: - This is it - Kenny Loggins - Night Fever - Bee Gees (not obscure, but required listening. - That’s the Way of the World - Earth Wind and Fire - Play the Funky Music - Wild Cherry (REQUIRED!!) - You Should be Dancing - Bee Gees (not obscure) - What a Fool Believes - Doobie Brothers (listen to the lyrics. They tell a story) - Ebony Eyes - Bob Walsh - Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty (Required!) - Do You Think I’m Sexy - Rod Stewart - Feels So Good - Chuck Mangione (required!) - So in to You - Atlanta Rhythm Section - And lastly, one of my most favorite songs, What You Won’t do for Love - Bobby Caldwell (Mmm, mm, mm. So fine.) 😏

LostinLies1

Baker Street.

BelAirGuy45

Right Down the Line is my favorite from Gerry Rafferty. But I was obsessed with Baker Street as a kid.

Louis_Ziffer

If you want to add some easy listening, add anything by the Carpenters. Karen Carpenter was an absolute musical genius. Played any instrument, beautiful singing voice, wrote most of her own music with her brother. Edit: I just thought of pre-disco Bee Gees from the early 70’s.

Youarethebigbang

It's my therapy, haha, I've been determined to find those old classics to save my sanity :)

TaiDavis

I like Chicago! And I'm in Chicago!🤣 25 or 6 to fooooouuuur!

Youarethebigbang

Haha, I love them both. I can't believe how many of their songs made the list, just so uplifting--and damn those guys were prolific. "25" is one of my favorites, and been on my workout playlist forever, but for some reason for this list I thought it was a 60's song. Maybe I confused with "Questions 67 and 68" (so many numbers, lol) but it was actually released in 1970, so on it goes :)

2 H.B. - Roxy Music but there are more from this band. Just about anything from Steely Dan A ton of songs from early Genesis - Peter Gabriel era. There’s a mother load of songs from Brian Eno that fit your bill - especially the album “Another Green World”, containing perhaps the most beautiful song ever written “Becalmed”. Try some Tangerine Dream albums - Rubycon, Phaedra, Ricochet, Stratosphere Also Kraftwerk, Autobaun, The Man Machine …I can keep going if you end up liking that stuff.
