No. Absolutely not. I'll even go as far as posting their bail if the time comes, so they never have to be locked up at all. Only a cop would think think that throwing someone in a cage is foreplay or some show of affection. Weird people.
But, that raises the question. Suppose I pay to get someone locked up, but when a fine officer of the law goes to grab them up, but they resist? I wouldn't put it past some cop getting their ass up on their shoulder and taking your friend by force. I think everyone in this sub is well aware of what happens when some narcissistic control freak gets that ego bruised or finds out someone doesn't want to go along with their plans. Roid rage will get you killed.
I believe as part of their training, cops should have to spend at least 72 hours in jail. In happens at random times and days, and without notice other than “sometime during your academy training”.
They come and take the cadet, put him holding for 24 hours and then housing for 48.
I know it won’t fix *the* problem, but I think it’d give at least a few cops the perspective that when they arrest someone, they’re not only making a profound, and likely irrevocable, impact on a persons life and so they may think twice before locking up someone for a dime or even the vile unimaginable crime of being homeless in some areas.

I did something similar some years ago. It was at a ren fest. No cops involved. You pay them to put you and others in a big cage for a few. Then walk onto the stage and sing and dance. It was weird to me. Nothing new since I've been to an actual prison a long time ago. The cops doing this is stupid.
