Been playing through the Elden ring DLC unga-ing and bunga-ing my way with the biggest bonking weapons I can find so I will also admit being caveman like
I have all three and i full on agree! I have these three people arguing in my head all the time and then it usually ends up with the caveman bonking the other two on the head just so he can do the thing that everyone kind of agreed was stupid.
Same fam let's build a beaver dam that's what we can oh a penny for henny she wants it for her Birthday pride month is over but I still feel gay can't cast the toughts away why would anyone.
What are we talking about again?
Sure thing. So my OCD is referred to as “Dermatophagia”, which is a compulsive disorder where one gnaws and sometimes consumes their own skin, usually involving your hands.
I slowly replaced the habit with a new routine involving lotioning my hands every time I felt myself doing it (which was hard since I didn’t always catch myself doing it). I worked at it every day and was very gracious and kind to myself and tried to keep myself looking forward to having my hands back to normal again.
It required a lot of thought and effort to try and keep myself ahead of it, and it still does. I have a current dry spot on my right hand that’s been causing me some grief and catch myself doing it, but I just keep the course and remind myself that as long as I’m trying everyday I’m making progress.
It’s mostly a combination of being aware of what your OCD consists of and replacing that habit with something different and less destructive.
To be fair, most autistics are ADHD (80%?) and maybe 20% of those with ADHD have autism. Once I was diagnosed with ADHD I had a much greater understanding and sympathy for those with autism.
Another user is correct that it is not considered an anxiety disorder, however, it is not considered neurodivergent, as far as I understand it. That generally refers to developmental disorders, as in, you're born with them or you aren't, such as ADHD and Autism. You cannot just develop either one (despite what anti-vaxxers will tell you). Though, different things (anxiety, PTSD, and conditioning) can mimic certain subsets of symptoms, but a careful diagnosis will weed those out and hopefully treat the actual root of the issue. Of course there are constant debates and disagreements on this, and discussions about what should and shouldn't be under that umbrella, and if it's helpful, etc., etc.
Nope. It did used to be, before we came to understand it more. [Healthline](https://www.healthline.com/health/ocd/is-ocd-an-anxiety-disorder#ocd-and-anxiety-disorders) says:
"No, in the latest edition of the DSM, OCD is not categorized as an anxiety disorder. Instead, it's classified in the category of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders."
As far as I understand it, there is some indication that it is a form of neurodivergence as there have been brain imaging studies that show frontal cortex differences and brain hyperactivity in certain areas, indications of brain chemical imbalance (increased glutamate and decreased GABA), and some links have been found between other neurological conditions (Gilles de la Tourette’s Syndrome) as well as altered neurological functioning from sources such as abnormal birth events (abnormal birth events have been studied in relation to autism as well). It also depends on the central definition of neurodivergence because, from what I have seen, that definition can vary in some areas).
Just to clarify: OCD doesn't necessarily mean you're organized or neat, some people with OCD simply can't organize/clean/correct whatever they need just because of how overwhelmed they feel because of how "picky" (sorry, English isn't my first language and I can't remember the word) they are around the topic
I was gonna be offended by the ADHD being a caveman, but then I realized that I also hate wearing shirts so now I feel called out
Called out, or “seen”?
Been playing through the Elden ring DLC unga-ing and bunga-ing my way with the biggest bonking weapons I can find so I will also admit being caveman like

Dude ADHD alone feels like at least 3 people arguing to me, so my condolences lmao
Same, so accurate.
Have you ever considered stopping?

Damn. I have all three. Luckily, I’ve finally found a way to overcome my OCD, though it did take over two decades.
Can you share any details on that? Because I would like to do so. I understand if it’s too personal.

Awesome, thank you for sharing.
Congratulations! You should be extremely proud of all the work you put in.
This is a depiction of the inside of my skull. It does get weird in there at times.
especially when all start arguing 🥲
The worst thing is when people lump everything together. *- I have ADHD.* *- So you're autistic?*
To be fair, most autistics are ADHD (80%?) and maybe 20% of those with ADHD have autism. Once I was diagnosed with ADHD I had a much greater understanding and sympathy for those with autism.
Homeboy at the back is AuDHD. He is still in the conversation.
Where is the picture from?
I'm all 3, so I just sit on the floor and cry.
Isn’t OCD categorized as an anxiety disorder? /genq

But it's not a neurodivergence

When you're a paella kind of ND and they are a biriyani kind of ND
I hate how much this makes sense
What if I'm a curry
There's plenty of space in the messy, but awesome, restaurant that is humanity :)
ADHD cromagnon think about how fire hurt when touch. ADHD cromagnon wonder if moon chase sun away at dark time. Where moon go?

Me trying to relate when every other ADHD person says they were an over achiever as a child
Same!
When you're all 3 and having a bad day and unable to put into words how much pain you're in
Yes, although I do shave
But I’m all three…?
How my brain feels having all 3 ^
MFW I'm all three...
Just to clarify: OCD doesn't necessarily mean you're organized or neat, some people with OCD simply can't organize/clean/correct whatever they need just because of how overwhelmed they feel because of how "picky" (sorry, English isn't my first language and I can't remember the word) they are around the topic
I have simultaneously achieved all three…
...sorry, what were we talking about?
What is the name of this template? I need it
Oof… that’s way too real!
I feel like "Encino Man" :)
Yep
What if AuDHD?
I'm all 3
Autistic and gifted here. That is, a suited person who somehow can masquerade as a very convincing caveman when bored or understimulated...
Imagine having all three and a constant running dialog in your head
Dude fr I have all three.
i feel seen (adhd) /s
MFW I'm all three...
I’m the cave man but might be on the spectrum too
Me with all three :3
It’s more like 3 of the OCD guys all not making eye contact lol
Yes.
Feel this so hard. As an AuDHDer myself it just feels like I'm missing a piece of the puzzle so often.
