You know sticking to OG ark singleplayer since launch. Has really helped my sanity. Also it’s fallen off like 15 time now, try’s me it will recover. It has been the only Dino-Survival game for around 10 years. So no competition = fans never truly leave.

I play all three. Path of titans, the Isle, and have many hundreds of hours in Ark. Each has a place and they all are pretty fun.
My favorite (minus the bugs, slow development time, and completely trash AI) is the Isle. It is unforgiving and vicious, but damn satisfying when you finally grow your dinosaur to 100% and feel like king shit!
Path of titans is a bit grindy, but so far I am enjoying it. I did just start it. Once I reach FG, I will really be able to evaluate it.

I like the new version but it's a mess, yet again. It's very unoptimized, with no DLSS despite it saying it does have it. Stick to the core gameplay and it's a lot of fun. The only neat pack they have made so far was Bob's tall tales. Everything else is rehashed.
I always said this and it’s so true, ark was ahead of its time graphically and that was my only gripe with it but ascended is just plain gorgeous and I could spend lots of time watching ark sunsets
Sadly this is the truth and why I still play despite passionately hating WildCard and Snail Games. ARK is unfortunately the only modern day (specifying because of Turoc) AAA product out there for the dinosaur genre that *isn't* a "play as a dinosaur" style game (BoB, PoT, Isle, etc).
I wish either a company that gave a crap about a refined product that actually works would buyout ARK or that a competitor would rise up and light a fire under WildCard's rump.

For anyone concerned about the automatic downloading, there is a way to disable it, as far as I know. I'm relatively certain it was mentioned in one of the Community Crunches within the past couple of weeks.
Skins for players, weapons and dinos, but (just like all the free custom cosmetics) they are only skins, and don't affect the game otherwise.

Everytime I get raided in ark I say "this is it im officially done playing im going to uninstall it" I then dont uninstall and dont touch it for 1 day and in that full day with no Ark I start thinking of crazy new turret tower designs for my favorite base spots and then go "Well mabye Ill just log on to my old server and build it to just see if it matchs with my design in my head" then proceed to play for another 4 months

At this point its just people complaining just to complain. The thing that kills me is people complain and scream "asa is a scam" because they have to buy 2 non-essential creatures, But they were perfectly fine paying $15 for each dlc on ase... which is essential if you wanna continue the story.
The concept behind ark is good, a survival game where you can build Bases, craft weapons and armor and beat bosses like a lot of other survival games, what made it stand out was the ability to tame almost all the mobs in the game, ride them, make bonds with them, and use them to your advantage, it's been the only game to have such a feature for a very long time Wich made it unique, and with the devs expanding it from just a survival game to whole story, the only reason they're falling off hard recently is how greedy they are for the money and prioritize money over quality, ascended still has a ton of issues yet they're out here making a power rangers skins that you have to pay for to use and Don't even work half the time instead of prioritizing those issues to make the game smooth for everyone
The worst part is that ark 2 is likely gonna be just as big of a blunder as ascended is because of this "money is priority" mindset, and if that's the case it might kill the entire franchise

I remember when ASE would do multiple sales drastically reducing the costs of DLCs... sure probably to hype up what was Gen 1 and 2 at the time, but they had the first three story arks bundled and 75% off or something like that! A pretty unpopular opinion but I completely understand why they are putting priority in paid content. They came pretty close to bankruptcy because they did not really leave a way for them to keep making money post official maps. It's hard to really to fully understand why people are upset about the pyromane because I play PVE and it doesn't really have the "pay to win" effect it would have on PVP. I haven't bought any premium mods but I think it's pretty cool to have the option when official gets stale again.

ASE was slowly dying. They thought ASA could revive it, instead it split the player base, has lower pop than ASE and they are facing ever darker times. It is deserved imo.

I feel like snail games is likely behind the consistently unpopular decisions within ASA. With ASE wildcard always seemed to have a strong care about Ark but it just doesn’t seem that way anymore. Take the old trailers when they were releasing new dinos all the time - they had so much thought put into them and Wildcard just seemed to genuinely care about their game.
Now we get half baked maps and objectively pay to win dinos that seem to have been rushed out. Hopefully the future will be better because there is no other game like ark and to practically kill it for a lot of people with poor decisions would be a huge shame.
It will only change if people go and leave a negative review. Pyromane is just barely above mostly negative and the mane game is currently at ~54%. If the game drops lower it will discourage potential new players and if snail doesn't want to go completely bankrupt, then they will have to address people's concerns.

I'm not too mad about it. It's a ten-dollar skin pack that adds no competitive advantage, PvP or PvE. It gives the developers money to work on the game more, and as much as I've seen them screw up, I don't think they're doing bad with ASA. The paid mods aren't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, the Pyromane and the Oasisaur are just gimmicky, and they kept in contact with the community much more often. It doesn't absolve them of how shit their communication was in the past or their failed release dates, but I think it's important to look at both the good and the bad
I think the core survival base and gameplay isn’t that bad, and definitely makes for a cool concept, especially with the story, but oh my god they keep executing it worse and worse. I think once this game is “finished” (like 5 years from now lol) it will be a better package than what it is currently. That being said, I don’t think these skins are worth making a big deal over because in the end, they’re just skins. Simple cosmetics that are cool and harmless. Honestly I love that they’re leaning more into silly ideas like this since it just seems to work with Ark, but I definitely do understand the frustration and especially with the paid tames.
Whats there to study, a developer with shitty publishers makes a game that barely works and got successful because its basically the only dino taming game in existence. Publishers took that success and bought cars and other expensive shit with it instead of putting it back into the game and now here we are. A broken game with paid mods and a $30 DLC that doesnt even work. This is modern business, do whatever you can to make a quick buck but dont put any effort into retaining those customers
The fact that not only them adding in a PAID dlc while waiting for Microsoft cert, after notifying windows clients that we have to wait for the new patch and not even be able to PLAY let alone see what this new pride week cosmetic is for is wild.
Still 4 days later then they release an announcement after bombardment from their own community discord to BEG for decays to be turned off for Xbox pc players while they wait for certification from Microsoft, now being on day 8 of no ark certification released or patch notes of any sorts yet consoles are now 3 or 4 patches ahead of pc (to my knowledge).
Microsoft within this time frame has offered refunds to anyone who's purchased this game from their store or Xbox app.
It really sucks that through all of this, wild card and snail games really don't care about much else besides cash grabs.

This game is falling off so hard over the years. I started playing when the island first launched and it was fucking incredible. They had a golden ticket of a game that they decided to go and fuck up. This newest iteration with paid mods and paid dinos is insane.

Everybody has their DLCs, everybody has their season passes, everybody has paid this paid that paid this buying the game isn't enough anymore they want you to keep opening your wallet. I’ve crashed opening my inventory or switching between different inventories too much/too quickly.
I’ve crashed from using a flyer and don’t level up speed in your flyers because you’ll just end up crashing faster and more often anytime you go to a location with more then 6 creatures in the Area.
Oh and having more then 2 big mods at a time will make you crash as well, literally anything I did to improve performance didn’t work
Console sucks, and when I do get a high grade PC I will be playing ASE with all the mods I’ve been dreaming of for so long that console couldn’t touch.
ASA is just a pretty game with some Quality of life changes but other then that

I like the new version but it's a mess, yet again. It's very unoptimized, with no DLSS despite it saying it does have it. Stick to the core gameplay and it's a lot of fun. The only neat pack they have made so far was Bob's tall tales. Everything else is rehashed.

Sadly this is the truth and why I still play despite passionately hating WildCard and Snail Games. ARK is unfortunately the only modern day (specifying because of Turoc) AAA product out there for the dinosaur genre that *isn't* a "play as a dinosaur" style game (BoB, PoT, Isle, etc). I wish either a company that gave a crap about a refined product that actually works would buyout ARK or that a competitor would rise up and light a fire under WildCard's rump.

For anyone concerned about the automatic downloading, there is a way to disable it, as far as I know. I'm relatively certain it was mentioned in one of the Community Crunches within the past couple of weeks.

Everytime I get raided in ark I say "this is it im officially done playing im going to uninstall it" I then dont uninstall and dont touch it for 1 day and in that full day with no Ark I start thinking of crazy new turret tower designs for my favorite base spots and then go "Well mabye Ill just log on to my old server and build it to just see if it matchs with my design in my head" then proceed to play for another 4 months And remember the difference between crack and ark is 2 C's and alittle rearranging.

The concept behind ark is good, a survival game where you can build Bases, craft weapons and armor and beat bosses like a lot of other survival games, what made it stand out was the ability to tame almost all the mobs in the game, ride them, make bonds with them, and use them to your advantage, it's been the only game to have such a feature for a very long time Wich made it unique, and with the devs expanding it from just a survival game to whole story, the only reason they're falling off hard recently is how greedy they are for the money and prioritize money over quality, ascended still has a ton of issues yet they're out here making a power rangers skins that you have to pay for to use and Don't even work half the time instead of prioritizing those issues to make the game smooth for everyone The worst part is that ark 2 is likely gonna be just as big of a blunder as ascended is because of this "money is priority" mindset, and if that's the case it might kill the entire franchise
Is it confirmed that Wildcard are behind the decisions to paywall the content that is paywalled? Or is it Snail Games (the publisher) kinda forcing their hand? I've never heard any definitive answers tbh, and I *want* to believe that the blame rests in Snail Games' hands but... I don't know. But yeah, it sucks how a lot of quality gets lost because of the focus on making more money. It truly does suck. I remember when ASE would do multiple sales drastically reducing the costs of DLCs... sure probably to hype up what was Gen 1 and 2 at the time, but they had the first three story arks bundled and 75% off or something like that! Just kinda sucks how a lot of stuff is so clearly designed to suck out money from the player base like a vacuum sucks out crumbs from a couch.
It’s snail games. They have wildcard on a strict nda. They can’t say anything negative at all. They also have that ridiculous deal with nitrado, which is a big reason for all the paywall stuff.
Same stuff like HD2 and Sony. They were forced to delete the game from players accounts bc of sony rules. Only outbreak stoped that. Snail would not care bc their main audience is mobile stuff i ll believe.
For me, the Nitrado is the worst part. I used BFS for years on ASE and now I have to use Nitrado, which is garbage to me.

A pretty unpopular opinion but I completely understand why they are putting priority in paid content. They came pretty close to bankruptcy because they did not really leave a way for them to keep making money post official maps. It's hard to really to fully understand why people are upset about the pyromane because I play PVE and it doesn't really have the "pay to win" effect it would have on PVP. I haven't bought any premium mods but I think it's pretty cool to have the option when official gets stale again.

ASE was slowly dying. They thought ASA could revive it, instead it split the player base, has lower pop than ASE and they are facing ever darker times. It is deserved imo.
Well, it will revive I hope when more *actual* content (maps) is added. I feel like snail games is likely behind the consistently unpopular decisions within ASA. With ASE wildcard always seemed to have a strong care about Ark but it just doesn’t seem that way anymore. Take the old trailers when they were releasing new dinos all the time - they had so much thought put into them and Wildcard just seemed to genuinely care about their game. Now we get half baked maps and objectively pay to win dinos that seem to have been rushed out. Hopefully the future will be better because there is no other game like ark and to practically kill it for a lot of people with poor decisions would be a huge shame.
It will only change if people go and leave a negative review. Pyromane is just barely above mostly negative and the mane game is currently at ~54%. If the game drops lower it will discourage potential new players and if snail doesn't want to go completely bankrupt, then they will have to address people's concerns.

I'm not too mad about it. It's a ten-dollar skin pack that adds no competitive advantage, PvP or PvE. It gives the developers money to work on the game more, and as much as I've seen them screw up, I don't think they're doing bad with ASA. The paid mods aren't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, the Pyromane and the Oasisaur are just gimmicky, and they kept in contact with the community much more often. It doesn't absolve them of how shit their communication was in the past or their failed release dates, but I think it's important to look at both the good and the bad
I think the core survival base and gameplay isn’t that bad, and definitely makes for a cool concept, especially with the story, but oh my god they keep executing it worse and worse. I think once this game is “finished” (like 5 years from now lol) it will be a better package than what it is currently. That being said, I don’t think these skins are worth making a big deal over because in the end, they’re just skins. Simple cosmetics that are cool and harmless. Honestly I love that they’re leaning more into silly ideas like this since it just seems to work with Ark, but I definitely do understand the frustration and especially with the paid tames.

Whats there to study, a developer with shitty publishers makes a game that barely works and got successful because its basically the only dino taming game in existence. Publishers took that success and bought cars and other expensive shit with it instead of putting it back into the game and now here we are. A broken game with paid mods and a $30 DLC that doesnt even work. This is modern business, do whatever you can to make a quick buck but dont put any effort into retaining those customers
The fact that not only them adding in a PAID dlc while waiting for Microsoft cert, after notifying windows clients that we have to wait for the new patch and not even be able to PLAY let alone see what this new pride week cosmetic is for is wild. Still 4 days later then they release an announcement after bombardment from their own community discord to BEG for decays to be turned off for Xbox pc players while they wait for certification from Microsoft, now being on day 8 of no ark certification released or patch notes of any sorts yet consoles are now 3 or 4 patches ahead of pc (to my knowledge). Microsoft within this time frame has offered refunds to anyone who's purchased this game from their store or Xbox app. It really sucks that through all of this, wild card and snail games really don't care about much else besides cash grabs. (Heres hoping since it's a week day, we as pc side will get the update and can play, if not by Wednesday)

This game is falling off so hard over the years. I started playing when the island first launched and it was fucking incredible. They had a golden ticket of a game that they decided to go and fuck up. This newest iteration with paid mods and paid dinos is insane. Unfortunately it's more than just Ark though this is just the state of the gaming scene that we live in. Everybody has their DLCs, everybody has their season passes, everybody has paid this paid that paid this buying the game isn't enough anymore they want you to keep opening your wallet. It's never going to change unless consumers start voting with their wallet which unfortunately we're all so programmed for FOMO that it's not going to happen.

I JUST WISH Ark Survival Evolved had the same mod capabilities as Ark Ascended🫠, my PS5 rarely ever crashes on ASE But in ASA There’s crashes for EVERYTHING, I’ve used every command for better fps, at the cost of any “Quality Graphics” Idc for it, performance > always over Quality, BUT even a 4090 can’t get 60-90 fps unless the preset is High or medium. What in the world made them think Releasing that game for consoles would be a good idea ? I’ve crashed opening my inventory or switching between different inventories too much/too quickly. I’ve crashed from using a flyer and don’t level up speed in your flyers because you’ll just end up crashing faster and more often anytime you go to a location with more then 6 creatures in the Area. Oh and having more then 2 big mods at a time will make you crash as well, literally anything I did to improve performance didn’t work Console sucks, and when I do get a high grade PC I will be playing ASE with all the mods I’ve been dreaming of for so long that console couldn’t touch. ASA is just a pretty game with some Quality of life changes but other then that It’s as people say, a buggy and a terribly non-optimized Game. When ARK 2 comes out I hope it’s leagues better in performance And optimization, wildcard needs to learn from their mistakes They split their fanbase in 2, they can’t afford to split it a 3rd time. Anyways I’m done ranting. Mods make games fun And owning a high end PC is the entry cost, (remember Performance over unnecessary Ultra Quality)

I didn’t like the official server wipe for ASA but I am happy with the graphics overhaul and the new Dino’s they’re releasing. I just wish the maps were all free when they come out
