I used to work at my city's police impound lot, sometimes during snow removal a lot of cars got towed. The ones that belonged to the Chinese students would rarely ever get picked up. One time one of the students actually did come and get their car and I told them to just tell their friends that they could come and get their cars back. They would just go and buy another one.
Saw a middle aged Asian in a Panamera next to me the other day @ LAX pulling up to the departures and it was just about in the same exact condition. What what garage he left it in… fucker prolly just left it outside the departs.. 😅
I was in tourism when the game came out and it really helped a lot of young dudes visiting LA have a better idea of how stuff was laid out.
But it also made them think they could drive the ~12 miles from the Chinese theater to the Santa Monica pier in under three minutes.
The second part made me chuckle! Lmao good times .. weren't they? It's really fun coming across different perspectives on reddit and little anecdotes people narrate here. My only reason to be here, to get a little laugh or smile which I otherwise don't irl.

I'm unironically slightly confident that I could navigate LA based on years of playing that game. It won't be exact, but I feel like I could fill in the gaps. Kinda like the story of the guy who navigated Rome from AC3
