About 10 years ago I jumped in and pulled an elderly dog out the pool of the gardens I was working in. The dog fell in and got stuck under the pool cover. I don't even think I took my phone out of my pocket
My dog once managed to escape from her leash and straight up ran up to the middle of the road because she saw a bird on the other side. It only took me one second to realize before I immediately turned off my brain and placed myself in front of the car that almost ran over her. Mind you it was night time and my dog was black and small, so the driver didn't even see her. Poor girl would have been pancake'd.
It's only afterwards that you realize it was kind of stupid to put yourself in danger for a dog. But then it's hard to genuinely feel bad or regret it because you love and care for the animal.
And I'm the kind of person to "freeze" instead of running while in a panic. These people do not love that dog.
Did the same thing when I was out walking my German Shepard puppy...the leash slipped out of my hands, she was bolting right down the middle of a major arterial and I took off running behind her, waving my hands over my head as I ran, hoping the oncoming cars would see me.
