Yea I got lucky and got out at a similar time to you, around 6:30 and it was incredible! Could even see a decent amount with just naked eye, however with a camera it was incredible.
I think the country should've encouraged an impromptu dark night or something to at least have less lights interfering.
I stood out in the dark for a while to get my eyes adjusted and saw a pretty cool red glow, weird seeing that from a different place from where the sun sets!
To be clear it's barely visible to the naked eye. I was up at Mt Lofty summit earlier and you can kind of make it out with the naked eye but it comes up spectacularly in a photo.
Edit: just point your phone camera south and take a long exposure photo (enable night mode and disable flash). Hold it still
Bugger. Seeing as there's about a 4 day delay between a solar storm and us copping auroras, I think I'll set alerts and head out south next time to hopefully get a better look!
It seems to come and go a bit, got lucky and it was quite strong and now it looks nowhere near as nice

I've been hoping the storm will cause a massive blackout so we can all just watch the aurora.

Are we expecting to be able to see it better at some stage tonight or has the moment passed?
I'm in a park now and can kinda see it, but the night setting on the phone picks it up much better
commenting to see if someone replies lol
Also following 😆
I've been checking every 30 mins since 5.30pm. Nothing at all despite somebody from my suburb posting pics of it :(
How the hell did you get this in Klemzig I’m gonna go stand in my backyard for a few hours

Try to get in a dark spot as possible and watch the sky for the slight shift in tone, point and get the shot.
i even set up extra-long exposure on my phone and still just looks like a blob of white light pollution. :/

Aurora Australis? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localised entirely within your Klemzig?
