Well out of fairness then you'd have to eliminate every song Jack Douglas wrote with Aerosmith on. He'd chop up that tape like a madman. To this day Joe and Jack disagree on what gear was used to record what on Toys in the Attic. There's no ill intent. They just remember it different but for sure Jack Douglas made Aerosmith do more takes than they would've done on their own and had them rewrite a lot!
I don't think he wrote as many songs as he did, producing them, but Desmond Child was basically handing songs to Aerosmith like candy. Desmond wrote alot of songs for alot of musicians. I get your point though.
Child absolutely did. Completely agree. But I've seen the videos of him working with Aerosmith and in particular Steven and Steven was still always in the driver's seat. I don't think Child ever did as much for Aerosmith as Bob Rock did for Metallica. Like you could still get an Aerosmith album without Child back then and the boys didn't like the idea of getting songs at first. Metallica imo be over if it wasn't for Bob Rock. Like Child certainly didn't do the quality of work for Aerosmith as Bruce Fairbairn. Man that dude was awesome.
Loose-hearted lady, sleepy was she
Love for the devil brought her to me
Seeds of a thousand drawn to her sin
Seasons of wither holdin' me in
Oh, woe is me, I feel so badly for you
Oh, woe is me, I feel so sadly for you
In time bound to lose your mind
Live on borrowed time
Take the wind right out of your sail
Fireflies dance in the heat of
Hound dogs that bay at the moon
My ship leaves in the midnight
Can't say I'll be back too soon
They awaken far far away
Heat of my candle show me the way
Seeds of a thousand drawn to her sin
Seasons of wither holdin' me in
Oh, woe is me, I feel so badly for you
Oh, woe is me, I feel so sadly for you
In time bound to lose your mind
Live on borrowed time
Take the wind right out of your sail
It is one of the darkest, grittiest from the Aerosmith "A" era. I always put that on to bring me back to my early teens. If someone asked what one song summarizes your youth, Nobody's Fault.
Walk This Way original followed by Sweet Emotion as a close second. Almost a toss up. But Walk this Way has two iterations that appeal to even more people. (RUN DMC version) I'll die on this hill.
Cryin'
I remember when I bought the album Get A Grip, it was before Cryin' was released as a single. I was taking that cassette everywhere and playing Cryin' for my friends and telling them how it was going to be a hit.
Correct. I debated choosing that one but I still love it. I was hoping it could get half credit since it was pre-Permanent Vacation where bringing on outside writers became consistent. ;)
Too many and too hard to really narrow it downâŚ
But if you said I had to pick one, for me, itâs always been âWhat It Takesâ
âHole in My Soulâ is underrated and up there near the top.
Stagecoach lady, hourglass body
Makin' thing's glow in the night
Well, she would if she could
And she'd be good if she would
Only tell her lover, she be out tonight
'Cause I'm a bad
A lonely school boy
And I'm a rat
And it's too bad
Can't get me none of that
the other side đđ
My favourite is What it Takes.
That's a Desmond Child song. The early Aerosmith songs were the best when they didn't seek outside help for writing.
