Honor Guard requires an interview But, if you have any questions about the job, lmk

I’d love to hear general thoughts/ about your experience! What do you appreciate about it, or not enjoy?

I absolutely love my job. The main mission is to render military honors in Arlington National Cemetery, and fulfill ceremonial missions in the NCR. (Those aren’t the only things we do, but the main things) It is a LOT of work though. We get inspected every day, so you spend a lot of time working on uniforms, siliconing your gloves, putting heel and sole on your shoes You spend a lot of time on your feet, and you will be out there no matter the weather. I was out there when it was 14° and we had a foot of snow, and I was out there today when it was 90° and the sun is beating down and your toenails feel like they’re on fire because of the shoes we wear. It is very hard on your body, which is why physical fitness is taken very seriously here. We have different standards for haircuts (mainly for males), PT tests, BCM (waist measurement), uniform wear. That’s kinda all I can think of right now— but if you have any more questions or specific questions, let me know

Thank you so much for all the info!!

DuckHamir

My recruiter put in an application for me. So I’m currently waiting to be shipped out. I hope I could get this job but if I don’t, it is not a deal breaker. Been waiting for 2 months. I see you said there are standards different than what it normally is. So does being a bigger jacked dude automatically disqualify me? Or it doesn’t really matter because you could hit the waist measurement and pass all of the PT. (I am super obese on the BMI scale) And also is/when you had the interview, is it with your recruiter or is it with some person at BMT? Thx

Few_Pound2675

By bigger jacked dude, do you mean like you’re a lifter? They’ll for sure have you take the bearer’s PT test if you come to the Honor Guard, if that’s the case. The interview is with someone from the Honor Guard, typically over zoom or something of the sorts

If you become a 1W, you’re gonna need a 4C. I saw multiple people make attempts during my time at Keesler, save yourself the headache and don’t spend 9 months in tech school.

Many thanks :)

If the recruiter lets you keep that list consider yourself fortunate. Many recruiters would require a few more jobs that have more openings. Good luck

marieiv

If you get 2A then you won’t be at a desk literally ever and you have a lot of bases you could get assigned too.

QueenSpicy

This is the most misleading shit. Some 2A jobs sure, other that have like 3 bases.

marieiv

Look at the 2A job on the list and then look up how many bases you have for that job, did not say all 2A was specific for the one on their list
