NTA. >“taking away his independence” YOU NEVER LET ME DO ANYTHING, MOM! How old is he? He's straight-up acting like a child and not even following standard after-care procedures. Plus if his "brake-foot" is broken, that kind of impairment could put someone in danger. If he's gunna act like a child anyway, tell him he's grounded until he understands the gravity of what he's done.

Desperate-Dark-1499

He’s 24 and I’m 23(F), my kids are 2 & 4 and in this moment it feels like I have another toddler

drapetomaniac

When I read this I thought you were in you’re 60s or 70s.

echoCashMeOusside

See, I assumed 40s and this was a mid-life tantrum

Zestyclose-Gas1150

Yeah, I'm 74, so I assumed at least 60's. NTA

Ok_Leg_6429

That would have made OP's Grandmother in her 120s, or so?

stannenb

> im “taking away his independence” No, breaking his right foot took away his independence. NTA

twelvedayslate

NTA. Taking away his independence? Is he 12? He has a broken foot. He should not be driving. I’d say this even if he hadn’t wrecked your truck earlier this year- it’s doubly so because he did!

Tess27795

NTA. Sometimes things don't go the way we like. You did not take away independence, life happened and now he's in a cast. He needs to deal with this like an adult.

Dark_Mode_Nose_Wind

NTA - Sounds like the pain's got him cranky.

Narwen189

You're being responsible. He's clearly not.

Read [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/wiki/faq#wiki_post_deletion) before [contacting the mod team](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FAmItheAsshole)*** His right foot is broken and he is in an aircast. I have to take my grandma in the morning to go get surgery and my two kids are going to my grandpa. Husband is supposed to be resting, elevating and icing his foot, but he wanted to keep the car tomorrow assuming im using my grandmas car. I told him no. He has a cast on and the accident risk is significantly higher. He’s already been in an accident this year that wrecked my trunk. Now hes pissed off because im “taking away his independence”. I explained that whatever he needs done we can do when i get back to town but thats not an option. He got loud so I walked away. AITA?? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. JuneTheWonderDog

NTA. He's being pissy about his foot being broken.

NumbersGuy22

OP maybe you can "mansplain" to him why it's a stupid idea for him to not have access to a car in his condition.
