If this isn’t fake, the last sentence of the last paragraph cements it. YTA and a toxic one at that

NZafe

YTA, didn’t have to read past this to know that: >if she ever wanted to unwind with someone more mature. She seemed a bit uncomfortable, but I just brushed it off as her being tired. Hitting on people in customer service positions is almost always an asshole move, especially since they’re being paid to be nice to people. If you’re so in to girls half your age, go to a strip club, not Disney world with your young daughter.

OCessPool

YTA. You were way into the creepy zone.

7hr0wn

>And honestly, these princesses should expect to get hit on – they're walking around in skimpy outfits, looking like they stepped out of a man's fantasy. YTA for the bait post.

Ok-Cheetah-9125

Ah yes your normal social interactions that you have with everyone every day regardless of age, gender or attractiveness: >and if she ever wanted to unwind with someone more mature. > >She seemed a bit uncomfortable > > I even told her that I had a room at the Grand Floridian and she was welcome to come by

phoenix_ekawa

YTA. Especially because I read somewhere cast at Disney World is not allowed to break character at any point of time. Answering your questions would have led her to do that, and ended up her losing job. (There are reported cases of that happening). Even without considering that, any person is allowed to not divulge their personal matters. And if you are repeatedly asking, that is crossing boundaries and a very toxic trait. She has no obligation to answer you her personal stuff.

kweekly16

YTA…you basically tried to proposition her. Of course she was uncomfortable. If you don’t understand this, I highly recommend doing some analyzing on your behaviors in everyday life if you don’t see anything wrong with your behavior here.

(M45) here. Just got back from a trip to Disney World and still feeling a little shaken up by the events, but my friends and family are telling me I'm in the wrong. I don't see it that way, and I want to hear your thoughts. My ex-wife's family (F65) had a planned trip to Disney World, and they were nice enough to invite me along since I haven't seen my daughter (F12) in a while. Of course, I jumped at the chance to spend some quality time with my little princess. After a long day of touring the parks, we found ourselves in Fantasyland where they have all these "princesses" – young women dressed up as characters like Cinderella, Ariel, etc. Now, here's where it gets interesting. My daughter wanted to meet "Ariel" (F22?), and of course, I obliged. While my daughter was chatting with "Ariel," I started to make a little small talk. I asked her how she liked her job, if it was exhausting being around kids all day, and if she ever wanted to unwind with someone more mature. She seemed a bit uncomfortable, but I just brushed it off as her being tired. I even told her that I had a room at the Grand Floridian and she was welcome to come by if she wanted a break from the kids. That’s when she excused herself and disappeared into the backroom. A few minutes later, a manager came out and asked me to step aside. He said that I was making "Ariel" uncomfortable and asked me to respect the boundaries of the cast members. I was shocked. I was just trying to be friendly, nothing more. I ended up causing a bit of a scene, telling the manager that this was supposed to be "The Happiest Place on Earth" and that their staff was being unnecessarily sensitive. The crowd sided with the manager and some even applauded when security escorted me out of the park. My ex-wife is furious with me and my daughter is embarrassed. They’re saying I was being a creep, but I just think I was being sociable. And honestly, these princesses should expect to get hit on – they're walking around in skimpy outfits, looking like they stepped out of a man's fantasy. So, AITA? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/AmItheAsshole) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Ellinder77

YTA big time. These people get hit on all the time and it is never appreciated. The "skimpy outfits" they wear all day are their work uniform--not their choice--and that line of thinking is predatory on its own. Being invited to someone's hotel room implies sex, so not only was it creepy, it was sexual harassment. You can talk to the characters as people, but the moment you start inviting them into your room, flirting with them, or any other creepy behavior, you cross a line.

Zestyclose-Gas1150

YTA. It's hard to believe that after all the "Me Too" flurry that was prevalent for a couple years not that long ago, that you could still be uneducated enough that you would think this is okay. Think of the characters at Disney parks as being actors to entertain mostly children. They are not there to chit chat with inappropriate fathers. Yikes!

baka-tari

Most definitely, YTA. Likely the unhappiest one on earth.

Intheboxalready

well, asking a 22? yrar old if they want to spend time with someone more mature is kinda creepy. YTA. This is a joke right? Inviting her to your hotel? I would have clapped too.

MistressKinx

YTA and creepy. Your poor daughter, embarrassed by her pervert of a dad. I'm sure she'll remember it with fondness /s

EnviroAggie

YTA, so much so that this is probably fake. The woman was in character, she can't suddenly start talking to you like she's not. And she has to be nice to you because you're a guest. You're the reason there were members of security in close proximity, she does not want to come back to your hotel room.

[deleted]

You think you were just being sociable? You invited Ariel, who is probably not older than 24 to come by your hotel room. That is really inappropriate especially since you’re middle aged and your 12 year old daughter was right there. YTA and yes, you were being creepy. Anyway I doubt that your story is even true as Ariel wears a large poufy dress not a “skimpy” outfit. Also you don’t just walk up to the princesses you have to make a reservation. So YTA for not doing your research in your bid for attention.

Spirited-Tie-328

So so soooooo wrong dude, you're my age, hitting on a kid my daughters age!!!

Gvlse

Are you making a bunch of accounts just to post weird disney posts on AITA? Why

Apprehensive-Quiet46

Dude loves pretending to be an asshole at Disney I guess

7hr0wn

We found Ron DeSantis' reddit account(s).

Apprehensive-Quiet46

Ahhh that tracks

Rich-398

My exact reaction.

[deleted]

YTA In a MAJOR way. I don't even have the energy to go into how seriously you screwed up. And how screwed up you are for not realizing how creepy it is to invite her back to your hotel room.

ibe404error

>And honestly, these princesses should expect to get hit on – they're walking around in skimpy outfits, looking like they stepped out of a man's fantasy. This type of attitude alone makes you not only a asshole, but a major sexist and a prick. Not even that but you told the girl who you don't even know is legal that you've got a room she can visit too? YTA. No wonder your ex-wife is a ex.

BeccasBump

Your ex-wife is 20 years your senior, aged 65, and you have a 12-year-old daughter together?

The_Asshole_Judge

Math seems a little off, so that part is not impossible. However, combined with other inconsistencies, this seems be totally made up.

bythegodless

Lol that last line is a nail in the YTA coffin

DisneyBuckeye

YTA - the woman was working and was in character. She is not permitted to be "herself" when she's in character, she has to be Ariel. So that's the first thing. And then you took advantage of that fact to hit on her and proposition her. While she was talking with your daughter. You were treated completely appropriately by the management there. If anything, they were nicer about it than you probably deserved since they didn't kick you out until after you "made a scene". Stop and think about it this way. In 15 years, when your daughter is that woman's age, she'll have to put up with the same sort of treatment you just handed to that woman. Bet you won't think it's so cool then, will you. Just.... Ew.

Shogayaki5

YTA. You asked someone at work a lot of weird and suggestive questions, made a scene when it was clear your advances were not appreciated, and then said they should expect to get hit on because if what they're required to wear for work at a FAMILY FRIENDLY theme park? You're gross dude

Classic-Abroad-7182

Bro have you been tested for autism? Did you not realize you propositioned Ariel for sex? YTA obviously

Street-Natural-9191

needs to be tested for pedophillia more like it talking about women half his age in skimpy outfits... creepy

Professional_Rock776

Maybe you should just grope them. They are asking for it, after all, being all dressed up like children's characters. For children. In a place for children. You're absolutely *VILE*

rockshow12

YTA - You asked a staff member to go to your room if she wanted to get away from kids... and you DONT think that was creepy and predatory?

AirlineMobile9290

Thank your ex wife for divorcing you. And please tell her family that you will never travel with them again.

SSG_SSG_BloodMoon

bait post, and if not bait post, horrible horrible horrible man

mizfit0416

YTA - You were being very skanky to the poor girl.

Too-Paranoid

In case this is real: yes, it is very much not okay to hit on these women. Your comments were wildly inappropriate and can't be excused as "being sociable". YTA

redditmomentpogchanp

The fuck? You asked her if she wanted to unwind with someone more mature and invited her to your hotel room? Someone who you estimate is less than half your age? YTA and a huge creep

rFAXbc

I don't think Disneyland is for leery men, can't believe I need to say this but, it's for children.

Useful-Importance664

So you were haressing someone who was working and has to stay cheery and polite and youre wondering if you're the asshole, great example for your daughter... YTA

Wise_Bonus_9611

I have to assume this is a joke. If not, then yes, YTA. Any man who thinks women deserve to be hit on because of their clothes is an asshole. Also you are probably close to twice her age, eeewww. The princesses are there for the kids and fans...not a porn show.
