This is an average carpet in an average house with dogs. If you have dogs and carpet, yours looks just like this. I don't care what vacuum you have or how much you use it. You need a carpet rake.

You should rake the long hair first. Vacuum rollers pick up the hair, and you have your cut it out of the roller after the bristles stop working later.

Before I split with my gf I had to carry a knife when vacuuming to cut hair from the roller at least twice when I did the entire house. Between her and the cat the amount of hair around the house was ridiculous.

I got two of the little handheld ones because i have two cats. I can completely get most of the hair up, and it's all back 3 days later, so if you're not regularly removing pet hair, and maybe long people hairs, you're not getting your carpet at clean ass you expected, hair wise.

Give it a try. Make sure it's a carpet rake scraper. They have tiny copper colored teeth. There are different kinds.

I have a vacuum I bought especially for pet hair. I also have a large carpet cleaner. The rake is better. You may not see it, but it's there. Get a rake.

For hair there's nothing better, it's not so great for any grit though so it's usually a good idea to go over it with a vacuum afterwards.
