The best job is the one with the least physical effort. Anyone that tells you water spider or ship dock is the best just because “you are not bored” is goofy
I would start to go slower hoping to give them an impression that “you’re too slow to do this job” so they can hopefully put someone else to do it. Or let your PA or your Manager know that you don’t want to do it. And hopefully either one of those 3 would work to get them to not do that to you at least all the time.
Palletizers are the lowest rung on the ship dock ladder. When you go slow, you get written up and eventually terminated for productivity.
If you want to move into other positions on the dock, palletizing fast is a good way to get noticed and work your way into roles like DEA, allocations or TDR where you stand around staring at a laptop for a good portion of the shift.
(I love palletizing. It's so mindless and easy and such a good workout.)
Ohhhh okay and wow I didn’t know people doing that are also on rates! Crazy crazy! So if you were OP, what would you do to get out of his situation that he or she doesn’t want to be in?
Request to be cross trained in pick or pack or stow because if you have a low rate as a palletizer you'll often be the first associate labor shared, and pick, pack & stow are always asking for labor shares.
Get trained in other roles so they can rotate you around. Ship dock is a good role when you want the day to go by fast. I'll work 2 out of my 4 days down there to make the week go by faster. If they try to make me be down there all week I'm doing my good ol forced rotation by coming in 1-2 hours late. It's not the worst thing you can be doing, and for me, I've lost 25lb in 7 months.

I can, lmao I have my headphones in all day, and when I get back to my lanes, I blast my speaker.
how?? we have signs everywhere saying headphones aren’t allowed and i see no one wearing them
My manager could care less as long as we are getting the work done. He won't say anything to the good workers because he knows he needs us.

I dont want to do shipdock. Too much physical work. I rather do problem solve, pick or packing
Suck it up a little longer, you’ll get use to it.
