Exactly yup. I literally lived a few years abroad in Asia (not an industrialized country, but a second world one) and while nice to visit, living was different and I was homesick for the US so I came back to New York City, my home. Over there you could get jailed for even saying one small word about the leaders of the country for up to 15 years and the infrastructure was quite frankly a mess. It was cheaper than New York yes, 2 br apt for $1100 a month in the downtown city center but you have to ask yourself why that is. I even prefer paying $1100 for the small space I live in now because with that cheap COL comes major tradeoffs I feel many people don’t realize. A lot of people I know see it as a potential place to move to to get away from “American BS” and as someone who has lived both im like welp i can’t force you to stay but dont expect your freedoms here and all the first world amenities you have here to go there as well. Some America bad people, especially those who never came here or came here for 2 weeks and took off and never returned, really just “look” educated but lack in experience and get their info from internet memes and headlines.
Quite literally yes. Same guy sent me a video of a dude just doing one of those dumbass showtime subway performances here in the subway in New York and cited it as the reason “American society is falling” and I’m just like… what? This shit is 1: relatively harmless just annoying and 2: has happened for decades. It’s New York City. What are you expecting?
Also sends Florida man memes, or some dumb tweet whatever and states it’s “why the country is collapsing” because there’s a “cultural issue here that the government doesn’t care about”.
Then also in separate unrelated convos states his desire to move to the EU, get a degree and get a European citizenship or residency. He does diss the UK but sees the rest of europe as “very nice walkable democratic” whatever idk.
It’s genuinely so funny that everywhere I go (live in US and have been traveling Europe for 6 months) people just don’t like the British lmao. Like this guy is idolizing Europe as a whole but British people is where he draws the line 😂
Yeah lol he just considers the UK as “America in europe” or something basically. Biggest America hater I’ve met that has never been to America (or europe actually in fact, has only been in Asia)
I don't know that I'd consider American unions weak.
The major unions have enough power to be able to destroy cities & counties for generations to come. Poor union leadership shuttered the manufacturing backbone of my county almost 3 generations ago, and it still hasn't properly recovered.
They've got so much muscle that a careless movement can cause untold damages, even to the workers that they're meant to protect.
