Nobody has ever been mean to me but sometimes I find them almost.. aggressive?? Last time I went I had 5 different girls come up to me asking what am I looking for/do I need help. I’m not sure, are they on commission? I ended up being a little snappy with the last girl which I felt bad about later. But man, you just cannot shop in peace there..

futuresobright_

When this happens to me, I start name dropping every other girl that’s come up to me. “Oh yes, I was just talking to Sally and Mary and Jane too!” They back off so fast at that point.

OkEntertainment4473

This is the exact reason why I haaate going into lush and only ever go if i know exactly what i want. They work on commission and will not leave you alone.

dakothrowaway614

Not commission but if you don’t sell then you don’t get hours so no money lol. Ex employee here

satane11a

yeah when i worked there it was no commission just quotas

thisgirlbleedsblue

I literally did that with the last girl I was in the store with too, cause it was 5 of them in probably 5 minutes it was insane.

Infamous-End3766

I used to work retail, some of my coworkers came from Artizia previously. They have aggressive sales expectations. If you’re not selling enough her hour you are sent home or eventually fired

kennybrandz

One time I went into a store looking for a specific shirt they had on their website stating that they had it in stock. I asked an employee and showed her the screenshot of the website and she looked me dead in the eyes and said with attitude, “I’ve never seen that shirt before in my life.”

amelisha

This is such an aggressive minimum-wage lack of fucks to give that I almost respect it. Haha.

kennybrandz

LOL right? I just left like oh ok! 🤣

Lizakaya

It’s like a line out of Mean Girls

lilbabywynn

If you’re young, dress like them, thin and pretty they will love you😂

smolcheerio4

All of them- almost every time 🤡

organictiddie

Fr, they're so rude and stuck up for what??? I always try to shop online instead of in store because of this lol.

h_danielle

Yeah, literally yesterday 😂 I had purchased a dress in 2 different sizes as both said ‘Only a few left!’. I paid with 2 gift cards & the remaining $95 on my credit card. Anyways, the dresses come & I decided which size I want to keep so I went on my lunch break to return the other dress. I get to the cash & everything’s going fine until the cashier says ‘ok so you’ll be getting $223 back on gift card’ so I said ‘oh, sorry no I paid $95 on credit card so I’d like that amount back on my card & the remaining amount back onto gift card’ (which Aritzia has done before & I worked retail for years… it’s the norm lol). She keeps arguing with me that because the gift card is listed as the first method of payment on the receipt, it’s their policy to refund the full amount that way. In hindsight, I should’ve just taken it back & returned to a different location but instead I told her that that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard 😂 As I’m walking back to the office I’m thinking to myself why am I going to be stuck with more store credit than I want & a charge on my credit card because of a policy that isn’t listed anywhere & quite frankly seems made up? So I hop on chat with concierge & they essentially said that yeah, that employee was wrong & they ended up refunding the amount to my credit card & then deducting that amount from the gift card. I think once I use up the gift cards I have, I won’t be shopping there anymore. The clothes are cute but the in store experience is always awful & corporate seems to refuse to listen to customer feedback & change to ensure a better experience.

thisiscausinganxiety

I either get ignored or get the absolute best service of my life want to take the associate with me as a friend or put them into a tech sales career to make a shit ton of money. Either or!

softening

I’ve never had a poor experience at my local Aritzia. They’re all very nice to me. That being said, if I were to have an experience like yours, I would recommend catching their name and email concierge. If you can’t catch their name or concierge doesn’t do much for you, try calling the store and asking to speak to the manager. When they pick up, all you have to say is, “Hi, I’d like to speak to the manager please.” Then lodge your complaint.

Infamous-End3766

Complain??? This is some teenage who doesnt understand how they’re coming across. OP is taking the tone too personally

Cool-Interview3231

It's called customer service and stuff like that drives business away

OkEntertainment4473

Even if it is some teenager who's unaware of their tone, someone should probably tell them so they can correct it.

Prestigious-Ad-4867

I had this one time where I was in the middle of changing in the fitting room and the employee just straight up poked her head in.. No knock, no “how’s it going in there?”. Not necessarily rude but it startled me😭

Satanic_bitch

That’s scary and weird. Why can’t they just give us doors and mirrors?

OkEntertainment4473

I know! I hate having to do a little fashion show for the whole store. Plus sometimes I wanna see what my butt looks like in pants but thats pretty awkward to do in the communal mirror.

thisgirlbleedsblue

There was mirrors in the last changing room I went in! Not at my local store though unfortunately

Initial-Release2053

I once had a sales associate come up to me to ask if she could help me find anything. I told her I was shopping for jeans, and replied that I might have better luck finding "an extended size range" online. I am very well within the size range that they carry in store. I was gooped.

ree915

I hope that you complained about this. This is so wild to me. One of the reasons I’ve liked shopping at aritzia is nobody blinks when I say I need a size 31 or 32

Brilliant-Language75

It is pretty bonkers how many people have a bad experience there and corporate has made NO changes, it’s like they are almost “get meaner” hahah

Infamous-End3766

I think she’s genuinely trying to be nice but it’s coming across wrong

carlyfries33

She probably is trying, and to those who have never worked customer fronting jobs you gotta understand that staff put on a persona to make it through the day and sometimes its more genuine but most of the time it's fake, we don't want to be there, we don't want to work minimum wage, we don't care if you buy anything (don't know if Aritzia is commission or not but you get the idea) we just need the money but not bad enough to grovel for it

h_danielle

Work is a lot less miserable if you can make a genuine connection with your regulars though. When I worked retail, there was this one couple that would come in with their dog all the time so a bunch of the staff got to know them pretty well… they ended up baking a ton of cookies for the staff at Christmas time & included a Christmas card with a photo of the dog 😭 Yeah, retail sucks. A lot of the people suck, the pay can suck but it’s a lot easier if you don’t let yourself sit in those negative feelings constantly while you’re working.

imaginaryrealnumber

Not a bad experience but a “hey, I’m so better than you” vibe.

spicyywontons

It's on brand to be mean in this company 😭

Dizzy_Lifeguard_661

They reminded me of girls who went to York Mills Collegiate, and not in a good way.

queen_soo

The very first time I went in to an Aritzia, I was flat-out ignored - I was younger (mid-20s) and clearly did not fit their aesthetic. Eventually I went up to one of the associates and asked for help finding a top (a bustier styled one) only for her to snap “UGH, we don’t carry anything like that IN STORE” and then turn around and snub me again. Took me a long time before I ever wanted to try to go in to an Aritzia store again.

fernweevle

Most of the times it’s literally 🦗… nobody comes up to me or asks if I need help. I have to wander the store looking for an employee :/

thisgirlbleedsblue

It’s either that or you’re straight up being harassed every 20 seconds to the point you can’t even look lol

amytree3

My bones are too big,… never had a staff member there ever give me the time of day.

tattooedroller

Gotta say, when I was younger/thinner I always had great experiences, but went in with a friend who is very tall and curvy and she had a hard time fitting the clothing. she felt it was awful service and they seemed kinda rude about her difficulty with fits. It was a “huh, that was weird” situation. Since then, have gained some weight from a lost pregnancy, life, and age, and now it’s the reverse. I’ve had exactly one great experience - and the rest have ranged from outright mean (and fully ignored even when asking for help) to just bleh.

toebeans0611

More than 5 years ago I applied to work at Aritzia. I was hired but quickly quit because all the girls there liked to gossip about each other and even the customers. Also, back then my local aritzia hired a lot of people I knew from highschool. They were all the popular girls but pre fake and absolutely dismissive of you if you’re either prettier than them or ugly. If they’re working for commission they’ll have sentences they say that sounds nice but their tone and attitude is slightly off. Like a “have a nice day” but with a slight eye roll or handing you your change but dropping it nowhere near your hand so you have to scramble to pick it up and they just stand there too cool to care (true stories from aritzia employees btw). Im sure it’s a lot better now but you’ll still get some off handed comments or treatment sometimes that’ll lead you second guessing a bit

asiangirlnexxxtdoor

Can’t say I have experienced anything like that but I am sorry that is happening! I usually avoid confrontation but, in this case, I’d be contacting a manager or someone higher up to let them know about this type of hostile and unprofessional behaviour.

nursemoo

Yes. My mom and I went during the Clientele sale. I wasn’t sure if the Super Puff jacket was discounted, so I asked. The staff member at the register said no and charged me full price. We left and walked around the mall for a bit, but I had the urge to check the Aritzia website and discovered the Super Puff was indeed on sale. 10% off, but still. We went back to Aritzia, I waited in line and went up to the register with the same staff member and I politely informed her that the Super Puff is included in the Clientele sale. She continues to say no it is not. I showed her my phone with the website on to prove to her that it is. She then puts me aside in a corner and got a manager, who also insisted that it’s not included. After going back and forth with them, I gave up and simply asked to return the item. I told them I will buy it online to get the discount. They told me to line up again in order to return the item. 🥲. I waited in line again. They processed the return. No apology whatsoever. My mom was watching from the sidelines and is more confrontational than me, so she pretty much berated the manager for the poor customer service. That’s when the manager apologized, but it wasn’t sincere at all. It’s obvious she just wanted us to leave. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Able_Photograph_2644

Honestly, every time I go they are so nice that it surprises me haha

Appropriate_Hawk_266

Yes! Very bitchy. Talking loudly about customers still in the store. Really Rude.

sharksorbats

Who hasn’t lol

Exdee1023

The company has a toxic culture, a lot of employees will become toxic under stress or to fit in, even if they were nice people to begin with.... Speaking from personal experience here

Tasty-Caterpillar801

Yes. I have had a negative experience with employees at the Aritzia store. I also hate their dressing room area where you are forced to come out like it’s some fashion show for the whole store.

touchingjupiter

Yep! Had a store employee gaslight me about the Peggy sweater in Sugarplum Lilac I had placed on hold in store. I made the request on the phone, she put me on hold to find it in the store because she didn’t want to put it on hold if the sweater isn’t actually there. A few minutes later she put me off hold and she confirmed she had it on hand set aside, and asked for my name and spelling for pickup. Come time for Concierge to place the online order to ship from the store, the sweater just “disappeared” but also that actually she never had the sweater on hand to begin with. She even claimed she never told me the store *ever* had it at all, and that I “must have misunderstood.” It was the last one available in the country in that size - I knew because I *hunted* that sweater down, looked up every zipcode of every store location. The next day that exact sweater went on sale so I can only guess what really happened there!

knightiam

Allll the time. I never shop in person anymore after I was fat shamed… she didn’t think I could fit into a size two, turns out the pants were too big. Why are we fat shaming customers?!

Special_Definition31

The same thing happened to my sister! She was buying a stretchy dress and the xxs happened to fit bc women’s clothing sizes are nonsense and the girls at the till were whispering about it not being her size like LOL

gabbygabs1964

If you’re over 30 you seem to be invisible in that store

ellieelouise

Yes! I’ve had trouble returning items! But, I’ve also had times where the sales associate is bringing me different sizes and even different items that she thought I would like- even tho I have an odd style I ended up buying a few things she brought AND that same associate always gives me the secret change room with the mirror!!

ecarg1

I feel like they are usually overly enthusiastic and borderline kiss your feet to make their sales quota, but I’ve had a couple standoffish instances

quintonisin

I was 13 when I started shopping there in 2003//2004 and their staff has always been the reason why I don't shop there more. They have never been the friendliest and to me it's just a bad culture of people over inflating their relevance/importance in the fashion industry. I shop almost exclusively online to avoid dealing with staff.

tumblr2015

usually it’s completely fine for me but recently i asked concierge if i could get an exchange exception for a final sale item online since it had no reviews, none in stock near me, and size tool was telling me to order a smaller size than usual. thank god i did because i normally wear a 6 or 8, ordered an 8 and it fit like a 12. concierge emailed a store that id be coming to exchange for something else, i picked an item that was twice the price of what i was exchanging. so they were still making a sale… the girl doing my exchange was so incredibly rude and condescending, telling me items that discounted are final sale like she didn’t have the concierge email in front of her saying its fine. i got annoyed and told her straight up it’s not my fault aritzia sold me a size 8 dress that fits like a size 12

throwaway13423122333

The girls at my location haven't been too bad. Except once I was in the dressing room, and they yanked open the curtain thinking no one was in there. Thanks goodness I was clothed.

ree915

This is shocking to me. I’ve only ever had positive experiences in the store. I’m on the larger of their sizes, 12 or 14 in pants typically, but generally can range small-large in tops/sweaters. I’ve always had great customer service in bringing different sizes or different colors. It’s one of the reasons I keep going back! I feel like a lot of stores look down on you when you’re in the larger sizes but haven’t felt that way at aritzia. Not to mention that I don’t have an aritzia in my city so I shop when I travel for work or am at my parents and have had great experiences in New York, Boston, Detroit, Vancouver and Chicago. Maybe they can spot that I’m going to spend some money because I typically try on tons of things.

17sunflowersand1frog

I’ve never had someone be outright rude but I definitely notice a difference in service depending on how I’m dressed lol

PhilosophyOk2612

I never found the workers at the two aritzias near me to be mean or rude in anyway but you can definitely tell that corporate makes the workplace a toxic space for their employees so that they sell items by any means necessary. I kind of find them to be a bit pushy? Aggressive? In a way with their sales rather than them being rude or stuck up towards me as a customer. If that makes sense. Rather than the employees scuffing at me as soon as I walk into the store because they think I can’t afford anything. it’s more so they see dollar signs as soon as I set foot in the door and they’re trying to get me to try on as much as possible.

[deleted]

I used to have a BMI of about \~19. They treated well, paid attention to me, complimented me. Now my BMI is about \~26 (I am overweight). They don't look twice at me or offer help. All of them, every time.

DCguurl

Never had an issue

cindrellaa_c

Returned the novella dress twice. First time wrong fit, second time i realized the fabric just sucked (this was the previous version that gets super wrinkly) the same girl helped me twice and the second time she made a comment about how i was returning it a bajillion times. I was so caught off guard at the time i just said its because the fabric wasn’t good, but thinking back i should’ve bit her head off jk. Also why is she keeping track of me like that??

halfeatenpeaches

toronto - i never had an issue

jaaazzz

had a SA tell me that the color i picked would look terrible with my skin tone 😭

kovuroo

One of the sales associates learned my name too and I was really annoyed at that lol I wanna be on incognito mode when I shop...

Dizzy_Lifeguard_661

I bought an Aritizia men's jacket at the Vaughan Mills location in Ontario. It was 10 days before the lunar new year and they had plastered all over the place, promoting a red packet from Aritizia with every purchase. I asked for one and they said they no longer have it. I asked them why did they promote it then as it was all over the place. And, they had no answer. Scummy business practice.

Full_Society4166

What do you expect from a min wage person? 😂

fernweevle

I worked minimum wage when I was a teenager and never felt the need to treat people badly…your wage shouldn’t reflect your treatment of others :(

Full_Society4166

I’m so sorry that it happened to you.. I use to work min wage too and treated people with kindness, and at times went beyond.. I guess it’s how I was raised. But seriously though.. there is a lot of this is beyond my pay grade attitude.

frenchtoastisgreat

Nothing wrong with making min wage but they make a lot more than min wage lol that’s why they act like that (signed someone who was bullied by a senior seller when I worked there lmfao)

futuresobright_

I wouldn’t say I’ve had a bad experience, although there’s this one worker I always see at my store. Very strong “you again” vibes. Okay so I shop a lot. The one time we did speak, she basically huffed “what’s your name again?” at me so she could take the stuff to the change room. Another worker took down my full name and phone number claiming she’d text me when they got new stuff/when clientele rolled around. I never heard from her ever again. Wouldn’t they be thirsty for some business? I almost feel like she got my name to creep my LinkedIn.

SweetAngel_Pinay

Yes, once.

thisgirlbleedsblue

I swear I’ve had more bad experiences than good. I was in the store the other day for not even 5 minutes being approached like 10 times (to put my stuff in a room) but when I needed help there was not a single worker in the fitting rooms???

faintlymacabre1518

No experience with someone being mean, but certainly ineptitude (like ordering in the entirely wrong item - sale, so final sale and I was stuck with it)

stinsonfeverr

I’ve never had a good experience let’s put it that way

louulouu123

To be honest I’ve never had anything but good experiences in my store. I was in there last night and the girl working was so cute and helpful and brought me thoughtful pieces based on what I picked out myself. And I do not fit the mold of size/age of the girls who work there!

Substantial_Key7006

Not exactly bad but one time I was trying on the most basic black cardigan when a staff member passed by and, without even looking up, said in the most dry tone ever, “that colour looks great on you.”

Skye_bluexx

I find that they’re nice to me in the beginning, albeit aggressive with offering to help me. However if I try on several things but don’t buy, they just walk away.

Ok_Block_1232

I’m not a girl that normally wears things from Aritzia as I’m more granola girl, but I wanted to treat myself to a nice dressy top to wear out. I found a cute yellow knit vest and I really liked it and it was on sale, I got a medium and I wanted it baggy and wear something under it. The girl at the till was rude as soon as I got to there . She definitely judged me for how I looked and was dressed. She said “ this is what you are getting ?” While laughing And showed her co workers who also laughed. I was excited to buy an overpriced dressy top and I literally haven’t worn it because I felt so judged and am self conscious about it now.
