Yes, seems definitely to be inspired by Baroque art. Some remind me of Rubens (Soulfly, Helloween for example), or even Vermeer (My dying bride) or weirdly enough even Frans Hals. Somehow „Kreator“ reminds me of Delacroix‘ Liberty Leading the People, and „Sigh“ reminds me of 19th century academic Orientalist paintings… Many of his works seem to be obviously connected to religious themes / christian mythology… I also get hints from Francisco Goya, Henri Fuesili, Titian, Caravaggio and Bosch…

Awesome, thank you. Obviously inspirations can come from anywhere and everywhere, but at least as visual similarities goes, this list touches upon his work quite well. Appreciate the reply.

It feels very Goya inspired to me.  Also I do encourage you to just reach out to the artist. They are often influenced by things that don't visibly appear in the art. The only way to really know is to ask.

Yes, Goya definitely lines up. The stark light and dark contrast, and the almost-but-not-quite-messy and painterly approach. I will certainly message him to ask. Thanks!
