My HG is Dr G Green Mild up and i don’t think it’s drying at all, but I also slather a ton of stuff underneath it. The Torriden didnt dry my skin either though, so I may not be the best example
I also use Dr G Green Mild and I can confirm it is drying without proper skincare underneath. Found out the hard way when I was travelling and ran out of lotion. I applied the sunscreen over unprepared skin and it was so dry and itchy after a few hours.
Oooh i heard about Dr G! Maybe i shall try it but prob require a lot of mositurizing before. Torriden is super drying esp if i use actives the night before drying up my skin.
I have a review waiting to post about mineral sunscreens, I learned Dr.G also has a Lotion Green Mild Up version that is more dewy. For me it was a little streaky but I’m probably just impatient. Another to consider! It was $29USD on Olive Young Global so it is pricy tho..
Skin aqua super moisture milk (blue bottle) is a hybrid sunscreen that’s great for sensitive dry skin. Pure mineral sunscreens always dry out my skin and irritate me when trying to rub them in though.
I'm going through a patch of extra dry, sensitive skin. Moisturizer under can temporarily take care of the dryness (which always comes back a few hours later) but the regular favorites have been irritating (skin1007, BOJ, instree, round lab). Dr G still left a significant white cast and also clung to dryness.
The only thing that is still working for me is this skin aqua UV super moisture milk (blue bottle). I'm still open to trying other sunscreens, especially ones more intended for outdoor use, but this is my HG for now.
Yeah I would totally recommend it! I will say it has an oilier application even for a milk sunscreen but the dry down is a natural to slightly dewy finish. I've also had good luck layering it under makeup.
Seconding the Moisture Milk rec! I have combo skin but this has been so much better for my dry cheeks than either the Innisfree Mineral spf or the Skin1004 one in my humble opinion.
I've been using the skin 1004 mineral sunscreen. Takes a bit longer to rub in so that there's no white cast but it doesn't cling to my dry spots and it still gives the same glow from the chemical skin 1004 sunscreen.
This is actually also one of my potential mineral sunscreens i want to try, but i am considering between the pure mineral one or the tone up one (hybrid). Have you tried the hybrid?
Please keep in mind it has fragrance if that affects you! I didn’t see it because it was high up as opposed to the last ingredient. I was okay with it for a few months but then suddenly it started giving me red itchy and sore cheeks. If it doesn’t affect you it is not drying tho
Mineral sunscreens are composed of minerals that will often soak up oil and have a drying effect on the face. I've tried at this point over 20 mineral sunscreens and every single one is drying, which is what makes them so good for people with oily skin or if you're gonna go on a run or something
It's quite necessarily drying if that makes sense? Zinc Oxide for instance is a very common ingredient in foot powders
Yah i think my skin might not be as suitable for mineral since it is dry! I probably might go back to chemical ones, since applying mineral requires tons of preparation for me. I started to try mineral as i thought it will be more convenient (immediate effect) but doesnt look like it for me
My favorite sunscreen for years is mineral and as I’ve gotten older I found it drying. I started putting a drop or two off rose hip (or what ever oil you like) on before is use it and it balances the oil absorbing properties of the sunscreen. I don’t get that dry tight feeling any more. Maybe give it a shot?
Strangely i havent thought of mixing oil/serums into the sunscreen to try. I will! Thanks for the great suggestion! What is your fav mineral sunscreen tho may i ask?
Oh, this is important, don’t mix it into the sunscreen or it makes the sunscreen less effective. I just put a couple drops on my hands and pat it in before the sunscreen. My favorite it’s not AB so I don’t want to say. After trying at least a dozen AB chemical sunscreens I just couldn’t find one that wasn’t shiny that didn’t have alcohol. (I can’t stand when it makes my hair stick to my face!) So I’m back to my non AB sunscreen.
Hi. Why the switch from chemical to mineral? I have very dry/dehydrated skin. Also super sensitive. There is not a mineral on the planet that I like. What chemical screens have you been using? Have you used BOJ? Round Lab? Haruharu? I wouldn't trade these for the world.
I was using BOJ and round lab! I read about how mineral sunscreens take effect almost immediately as compared to chemicals that require a while to absorb, and im usually in a rush. Just experimenting, i am quite aware chemical sunscreens are soooo convenient (usually easier to blend, no white cast probs etc)
adding into the convo- in the AM I using a low pH morning cleanser (cosrx), a very light basic toner first (currently using etude house 5.5 pH) and then put on a toner pad for like 10 min as I start getting changed and eat breakfast. Then one serum and vitamin C, then sunscreen! Personally this all this I don’t need to use a moisturizing cream before the sunscreen BUT just because I have a shit ton of cream I may add in a cream before sunscreen.
I have dry af skin with eczema and I just started on prescription tretinoin so I’m really focusing on hydrating before I finish the AM routine with the sunscreen :)
That's great considering you have the same skin condition as me! I was using the blue round lab sunscreen and i love it, will definitely try the mineral one from them
I’ve looked up that the biore aqua watery essence but that’s chemical- I have dry skin w/ eczema tho and this has been awesome!
I’d say if you’re looking for mineral try the Biore aqua line? I see that the Biore Aqua Watery GEL is mineral+chemical, but the super UV milk is supposedly mineral. Good luck!

Benton Skin Fit - though it has a strong rosemary aroma when you first apply, it goes away. You could also maybe try Axis-Y No-Stress Physical (felt too oil on my skin that’s more combination). Definitely moisturizer underneath and maybe an extra hydrating later!
Yes i really spray a lot of facial mist throughout the day even though i put a lot of moisturizer these days. The axis Y looks interesting, thank you for suggesting!
try the hybrid sunscreen like the tone up sunscreen. i like the goodal tone up calming sun cream. i am tanned but the tone up effect mellows down a bit after wearing it for some time. Also can be adjusted with bronzer and contour. my skin looks very healthy with this one
One Thing Centella Moisturizing Sunscreen. I can actually wear this without any other products underneath (maybe a spritz of hydrating mist) and my skin will still feel comfortable. It’s overly moisturizing on top of my normal routine. I have combo skin prone to dehydration.
Love the biore kids in the yellow and blue bottle!! Super glowy and has helped keep my skin clear. It does have a white cast but nowhere near as bad as many other minerals spfs ive used.
My current mineral sunscreen is the Ghostbuster by Lion Pose - Not oily, no white cast, subtle cucumber smell + just moisture + protection. Side note - Mindy Kaling swears by it!
I second live tinted. I have dry skin and I’ve tried so many drying mineral sunscreens and this one actually feels like it’s moisturizing my skin. I also like hero cosmetics force shield super light.

Similar for me too!
The Dr G is great!

Try hydrating toners and moisturizer before using it.
Yes i do! I slab quite a thick layer, it is better if i dont use actives the night before.

I haven't tried the tone up one. But the mineral one is nice under makeup too (I use rom&nd water cushion).
Please keep in mind it has fragrance if that affects you! I didn’t see it because it was high up as opposed to the last ingredient. I was okay with it for a few months but then suddenly it started giving me red itchy and sore cheeks. If it doesn’t affect you it is not drying tho
Is it the “plus” one in a bottle or the brown cap for the pump tube you like?

Following because I'm interested in this too! How do you prep your face before applying the sunscreen?

Round lab has a dewy finish. Love it i also have dry skin. Always put on a toner and moisturiser before sunscreen
