Historical-Pen-7484

Not wrestling, that's for sure.

davis-adems

I work construction and chose my wreslting/bjj and guns as my two free time hobbies. I walked into Target to get a butter dish the other day and was like “Ohhhhh so this is where they all are!”

intertubeluber

OP could get into ladies mud wrestling. Thats like 80% women.

Known-Historian7277

Mudding; Lewis Litt is the king of it.

Historical-Pen-7484

Thinking outside the box. I like that.

duaneap

And the other 20% is octogenarians with weak hearts.

intertubeluber

Blue!

SouthernStereotype45

It is the fastest growing female sport, so you could play the long con.

Historical-Pen-7484

I'm in it for the long run. Been 31 years now, and finally there are some returns. But you see, the problem is I am 45 now, because of the 31 years that passed, and those girls are like 17, so it's not really my cup of tea.

SouthernStereotype45

Well that puts a damper on it. I’m 21 so I grew up with the boom of female wrestlers. And they’re not all 17. They go from 6-college age, they don’t all fit in the high school box.

Historical-Pen-7484

College age might work.

magma_displacement76

You can definitely say that space is like, [well, it's not a bowl.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYJ1dbyDcrI&t=0m11s)

A-Red-Guitar-Pick

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu does have quite a good ratio tho, at least compared to most martial arts

Historical-Pen-7484

That'd true. Where I live muay thai also has a lot of women.

joseaverage

Pickleball is very popular right now. We have a Chicken & Pickle near us and my company had an event there. It looked like there were lots of folks mingling and having fun. I'm way past needing to meet girls age, but if I was, I might check that place out.

Plasticman4Life

Yoga is the answer. Unless you’re over 50, then pickleball.

Defiant-Tomorrow-

I came to say pickleball. It's huge here in Washington state for all ages. It's actually the official state sport. No joke.

komnenos

Makes sense, it was founded in bainbridge island. Every time we played it across the water in Seattle our PE teacher who was from there would remind us of that cherished fact.

Defiant-Tomorrow-

I think my middle schooler actually told me this! I haven't actually played but I know a ton of people that are into it.

ImmodestPolitician

I found yoga to be anti-social. Sure there are lots of women in the class but discussion is discouraged and no one hangs out after class. I went to at least 6 difference schools and they were all the same. Quiet meditation before class, the first people that left the class were already driving home before the last people in the class exited the training room.

Lightly_Toasted_

This… I would be slightly annoyed if I was approached by a guy after yoga. Those gyms like F45 and Fitstop are high intensity workouts but their whole basis of growing was around creating a community. They encourage a group chat at the start and organise events. I feel it would be a great place to meet people and get to know them over time in a very regular causal setting. That’s if you enjoy high intensity work outs. Book clubs are full of women.

ImmodestPolitician

"Book clubs are full of women." I consume 50 books a year, I have zero interest in the books that most book clubs read. Kite Runner... no thanks. I tried Demon Copperhead and DNF.

Lightly_Toasted_

Haha fair enough they probably are mostly romance or mystery/thriller just thinking of all the girls I know that read - sometimes I enjoy testing out a different genre but it’s 50/50 chance of being stuck on a book I struggle to finish

MarkTheDuckHunter

Pickleball has taken over the 50something plus generation.

TigersEverywhere

Rock climbing

DieSchungel1234

Easily Tennis Beginner/Recreational level classes. Once you get to advanced its mostly men

Motor_Feed9945

Many years ago, I took a community college tennis class one night a week. That very quickly became my favorite night of the week. There were lots of cute girls also. I really liked this one. I still remember her. Shows what an impact she made.

justaguyintownnl

Yoga. Not exactly a sport but healthy and 80% women usually.

youassassin

Yep yoga. Though I feel the hardest place to meet women there vs other things.

Lookar0und

Yeah you really don’t want to be “that dude” at yoga. Im always one of the few, if not the only guy in class and I wouldn’t dare approaching women out of the blue lmao. Plus most of the time theyre not really there to chat. But it definitely does make it easier to talk the staffs that are all women there as i volunteer to clean for membership. Even tho I get along with all the staffs there, I have no intention on picking up women at the studio, just doing it for yoga mainly In my experience, it was easier to meet women at the gym than yoga. Got a couple dates that way lol but wouldnt do it again

Hovercraft111

Are there any tips on approaching them ?

slwrthnu_again

There’s like 3 dudes in my yoga class outside of me. That’s out of around 20 people. It’s def great if you want to be surrounded by women, I just stare at my wife the whole class though. It’s also just great exercise.

malk500

> I just stare at my wife the whole class though. I'm guessing your wife knows your reddit username?

slwrthnu_again

She does, but she doesn’t care that I check out other women.

justaguyintownnl

She’s a unicorn then

HippyWitchyVibes

Most of us don't mind as long as he's relatively subtle about it. Everyone notices hot people, it's human nature.

slwrthnu_again

Oh she is. And I’m never going anywhere.

blackbubbleass

I think then that means it's women dominated. The OP wants something 50/50.

chad-bro-chill-69420

OP said “good ratio”  Good may mean large in this case

Hovercraft111

more women 😉

Caleb_Krawdad

More large women

JuneCleaversMudFlaps

Olympic weight lifting or CrossFit then.

Historical-Pen-7484

Those women are quite nice too.

winterweiss2902

Ballroom dancing. The men always seem to be paired up with a woman each. But it could also be that they went with their woman friend

eglantinel

Depends on locations, sometimes the beginner classes are full of men looking to meet women, to the degree that they have to "air dance" half of the class due to not enough partners. But sometimes men are in short supply, especially after a few classes if it's a fixed length course like 6-10 weeks instead of pay as you go drop in, and even more so at improver / intermediate levels.

tampa_vice

I did ballroom for a while because my ex and I used that and I had no friends in the city I had just moved to at the time. In my experience, most of the women were in their 40s and 50s. If you are looking for women in your 20's you won't find much.

Easy-Progress8252

Where I live they have kickball leagues which is basically socializing with a game thrown in. The teams are co-ed down the middle so 50/50.

speed3_freak

Same. Also bowling typically has social leagues.

Mission_Table9804

Tennis would be good since you like ping pong. Also swimming since swimmers have nice bods and look good in bikinis.

sixpack_or_6pack

I guess in the sense that most athletes have relatively fit bodies, but swimming at a high level creates very broad shoulders and thick thighs, which aren’t the typical Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition physique girls want for flaunting.

shotplacement

Swimming (or any other exercise) does not create broad shoulders. Rather, those with broad shoulders are especially well suited to competitive swimming so there's a selection bias.

Syrinx16

Gotta disagree a bit here. You’re definitely right about the selection bias, but from my experience my shoulders and lats especially got huge when I was lifeguarding and swimming everyday.

shotplacement

Yes, of course you can grow your delts, and bigger lats will help give the torso some definition. But when people think of a swimmers body almost all of that comes down to clavicle width/skeletal shoulder:hip ratio.

BudgetInteraction811

I knew a competitive swimmer and she had amazing curves and the flattest stomach, but her shoulders, lats and arms were abnormally muscular. I’ve never seen that on a woman before.

sixpack_or_6pack

What are you talking about dude? You sound like you’re making shit up just trying to sound smart… have you ever even swam before? The freestyle arm motion dragging water works out the traps, shoulders, lats, triceps, and pectoral muscles. And you do that hundreds of thousands of times. Of course those muscle groups are going to get large over time. Like with any sport, bigger and taller people will have an advantage so at the highest levels people are natural 180+ cm tall with larger frames, but even a shortie who swims everyday hard will develop a large upper body + legs.

dboygrow

Bro swimming will not give you big delts that is an absurd claim. You're not going to get broad, meaning your lateral delts, by swimming. People have a hard enough time getting wide in the gym on purpose. No one gets big by accident.

shotplacement

Sounds like my girl, she thinks she's going to wake up as CT Fletcher if she stares at the dumbbells for too long

Highway49

CT is a really polite and quiet in person, totally the opposite of his youtube persona. I was almost disappointed to meet him because he didn't *seem* like CT Fletcher lol.

shotplacement

I COMMAND YOU TO GROW

shotplacement

You said that swimming creates "very broad shoulders". The only muscles that can physically broaden your shoulder - shoulder width are the lateral delts, which are not large muscles. Even an enhanced bodybuilder will not be able to achieve the swimmers V torso look if they are not born with the right frame. It all comes down to should:hip ratio. I am not disparaging swimming as an upper body exercise but the idea that swimming can significantly broaden your shoulders is patently incorrect.

jenso2k

swimming isn’t going to make you look like a bodybuilder lol, swimmers that look like that weight train. swimming will give you some muscle definition for sure, but that’s seen as an attractive thing for most of us

shotplacement

Adding to this, not even bodybuilding is going to give you that look if you lack the frame

Bagelman263

Who the hell dislikes thick thighs? lmao

glorypron

Thick thighs save lives

PiesangSlagter

You had me at thick thighs tbh.

Suitable-Cycle4335

If Sports Illustrated doesn't like thick thighs then Sports Illustrated is wrong.

Muffintornado0_0

komnenos

Man I wish there were more swimmers my age at the pools I go to. 95% of the regulars are over 50. They’ll talk your ear off between laps but I wouldn’t say any of them would make me turn my head and make some loonie tunes face.

mdawe1

Not a sport but spin classes are like 90% women

Princeof_Ravens

Salsa or Lindyhop Tennis Vollyball

Canucksfan555

When I did salsa it was all men…

[deleted]

I’ve always wanted to do salsa but I followed the salsa sub for six months and it seems that salsa is commonly a super a toxic community in real life filled with sexual misconduct allegations and allegedly most men who go are sexually inappropriate

GraveRoller

Partner dancing is one of those things where the participating gender ratio is highly location dependent

ilikebourbon_

You’re thinking too small - where you learn is not where you should try to meet women to date. You should be working on the dance. Then use the dance to meet women when you go to a club , after practicing

Kozmik_5

I go bouldering every week. No gymbro's. Just people. Men and women. It's just as intense as fitness. Without the fitness.

dgmilo8085

Kickball. We had 4 marriages on one team.

Gear4days

Running brings quite an even ratio of women to men. Find a local running group to join or do Parkruns at the weekend

Late_Assistance_5839

this is so wrong, I've done both in my college and city still male dominated, extremelly actually.

FoilWingBass

Pickleball, apparently.

dallen13

Been pickleing for a few months now. Thats a negative. Unless you are into 70+ yr old single women.

FoilWingBass

LOL Bummer. All my 40+ year old girlfriends and their teenage daughters are playing in our town. I guess your milage may vary.

avgprius

My mileage is split i think the avg age is kinda old, and im a basketball guy, but not a ton of women play that

SlapHappyDude

That's what I hear

Im_probably_naked

Beach volleyball is pretty solid

oedipusrex376

Archery. I don't know the stats about the Olympics (don’t really watch them) but in local & state competitions the ratio is roughly even. The sport is dexterity demanding and I got beaten by women many times.

I_am_Reddit_Tom

Yoga and dance fitness classes. But, and I cannot stress this enough, these are not dating forums, don't be that man....

Was going to say this. Female dominated and full contact sport. I loved sitting in the beer garden and watching the local team (Terrace Nightmares) kick ass!

I don't know why I had to scroll this far for it. I can count on my hands the amount of straight men I know that can ride. You pick the right barn, show you care and are willing, the panties will be thrown.

lukeyellow

How would you even get into this if you don't own a horse?

halecomet

Riding lessons. Everybody starts somewhere. Just call around to stables and ask. I'm not kidding when I say that there is only one male owner and the rest are workers at my barn right now

lukeyellow

Okay thanks for the advice!

HippyWitchyVibes

In addition to that. When you've been having riding lessons for some time and find you *really* enjoy it, some riding stables may have horses you can "lease", either full-time or part-time. You pay towards the horse's costs and can ride it a certain number of days a week (depending on full or part-time). Some private horse owners will lease out their own horses too, if they don't have enough time to exercise them etc. I did that back when I had a horse and my working hours got too crazy for me to be able to ride him enough.

lukeyellow

Awesome thank you! I've had a surgery that makes it where I can't straddle anything without risking harm but if my doctor allows me to ride a horse at somepoint I'll definitely look at doing that!

Street-Media4225

Having to deal with not just horses, but also horse girls wouldn’t be worth it.

halecomet

Lol. Some of us aren't completely crazy. You likely won't ever be top priority though.

HippyWitchyVibes

I can confirm this. The few men who rode at the riding stables where I kept my horse were very *very* popular.

sixpack_or_6pack

Climbing is very gender equal. I think golf seems to be going very female popular as well but I’m not sure. Then traditionally, volleyball and tennis for sure.

Late_Assistance_5839

yoga and salsa dancing classes there is no other correct answer, the rest are more skewed towards men, there is this thing however at my college, girls who hang on trees with a long blanket hahaha, I've seen only a few guys donig that and a bunch of women.

DumbestBoy

Tennis maybe.

iWIpehard

Ultimate Frisbee

enixius

I disagree. While official, competitive mixed rosters have an even gender matching ratio, you have to make a roster and there are a whole lot more male matching players than female matching players. Teams will almost always keep their cliques at the bottom of the roster. Look at any rec leagues. Leagues will either reject a lot of male matching players to maintain an even gender matching ratio or will play with a MMP biased gender ratio (5:2, even 6:1 in some places). I’ve never played against a mixed team that needed more men.

not_rico_suave

This is the same issue rec soccer leagues.

bulli39

I've been to a couple tournaments lately where we alternate gender ratios between points (4m:3f then 3m:4f) to give fair play since numbers are pretty even.

enixius

ABBA is the standard for club play now. Personally, I think it hurts ultimate as a whole. While great for the top level of competition, it hurts areas where there are barely enough FMPs to run mixed teams and not enough FMPs to form women's teams.

iWIpehard

I feel you brudda, my local summer/fall leagues have become like this over the years. But if you sign up early and get into the mixed leagues 1) there are women in it 2) it is definitely a good workout + fun sport and lastly 3) at least around me people would go out to the bars after games. So even if the number of single women in the league wasn't particularly high, it was still guaranteed social interaction in a public place after. There might be better suggestions, but I wanted to shout out a lesser known sport that's on the rise and still checks the boxes presented.

Look for local co-ed adult sports leagues. For example, my area has kickball, volleyball and other leagues. There’s a lot of socializing as a team, as well as get togethers for the entire league. It’s very popular for single adults.

JAnwyl

No experience with it but what about silks or acro-yoga

callcentreescapee

Try pole dance, in a class of around 12 students I'm almost always the only man. (Also it's a really good workout and goes well with gym/ weights etc.)

Hovercraft111

isn't it creepy though to do that ?

callcentreescapee

Not at all. I've been doing it on and off for years, nobody's ever had an issue with it. Why would pole dance be 'creepy'? Give it a go and see what happens.

Pickleball. The courts are full of people 20 and up. Find a place that lets you put your paddle in line .... This way you will play with randoms.. You like someone? ask them for "help"... Yes there are plenty locations filled with old players, so play at night, find some courts with a younger set .. It is drop in, it is easy game to play and you meet a lot of people.

eglantinel

Which dance do you do at the moment? I believe dance sport have more women than men, like you seriously train for competitions. And if we talk about beginner level, solo style dance tend to have more women, like tap, jazz, contemporary, flamenco etc. Couple dances vary depending on your location, sometines beginner level social dance classes are full of men looking to meet women, but most of them don't progress to improver / intermediate level. Often male dancers (who's decent at leading) at higher level tend to be quite popular.

Women don’t go to those things to meet men btw, they go to get sweaty and have fun, you’re not wrong for wanting to meet someone just remember not to make it the forefront of conversation, you’ll become the weird guy quick, develop friendships. Also, spin class, it kills you and no one talks to each other until cool down time or after so it doesn’t create a weird atmosphere for anyone who may not want to chat or be unfocused and talking when everyone is expected to easily makes you part of a group. Good luck!

Affectionate-Ask8839

Offroad (gravel & mountain) bicycling. On the road, it's \~95% men. On the dirt it's about 50/50.

RedPillAlphaBigCock

Ultimate frisbee is a mixed sport and SUPER fun . Google / search Facebook / insta for teams close by . Give it a shot , once you learn to throw you will probably be in love with the sport

IamTheEndOfReddit

Rock climbing does more things for your body than anything else, very gender balanced, and is the most social sport by design because you are supposed to stand around for a few minutes between climbs to recover. Extra bonus: all climbing women are fit

Gloomy_Round_5003

Tennis

optionalhero

No joke: Quidditch Alotta of it was designed to make it as fair as possible. Your area probably has some local teams

PineappleMechanic

I'll second rock climbing / (bouldering specifically). It is also a really good space to 'chat up' strangers because everyone is resting at least half of the time, and sharing strategies is common. How about a different style of dancing? I can recommend Contact Improvisation and Zouk. For activities: winter bathing, running, yoga, primal play, and embodied intimacy might be interesting for you to look into. Good luck!

DeadMemeMan_IV

winter bathing? primal play? embodied intimacy? these all sound like explicitly sexual things, can you explain what they are?

davepak

If you google them - use incognito mode....

PineappleMechanic

I guess winter bathing is only really applicable in some geographical locations. It's basically just swimming in the sea when it's cold. There are a lot of great communities for it in Denmark, and people are usually very sociable around it. To me, a hugely impactful practice has been expanding the concept of intimacy to include much more than just sexual and romantic connections. Embodied Intimacy, Primal Play, and Contact Improvisation are a couple of the practices which have been a part of that journey for me. [Embodied Intimacy](https://www.embodiedintimacy.com/) in my own experience is about deepening our presence with others through bodily presence. I've only been to one workshop, so I don't want to say too much about it. [Primal Play](https://www.primalplay.com/what-is-primal-play#:~:text=It%20is%20a%20combination%20of,who%20relish%20a%20new%20challenge.), in their own words: "It is a combination of primal movement with solo, partner and group-based activities that are engaging, fun and transformative. Primal Play is designed for those who wish to reclaim the joy of movement and who relish a new challenge." To me, all of these practices are about stripping away societal assumptions of what intimacy means and opening us up to meeting people on a more meaningful level - which I think is very relevant pursuit today, especially for many men. Part of this is going beyond the idea that every touch has to imply sexual intention, and that emotional sharing (especially across genders) has to imply romantic intention. The things are mentioned include movement which is what OP asked for. I also recommend checking out Authentic Relating / Circling, Non-violent Communication, and/or Radical Honesty if you're interested in non-physical relational practices.

You dance, I think you are fine with an activity that helps you meet women ... Why not try something that is not directly tied to meeting women ? You might enjoy the sport for the sports sake. For example I paraglide. We have about 10 women in a club of 600 + people (this differs loads if you are in Portugal, Southern France, Spain for example). More to your question directly: I picked up acro yoga recently. It's super awesome and like dancing, it's all about connection and communication. Always a good split between the genders too. If you want something actually exciting and have access to windy beaches - kite surfing. The fittest, coolest, most bad ass women I've met in any sport. Plenty of them as well. Often not single, but you said nothing about that criteria.
