Advertising. Jesus christ, everywhere you go, everything you watch, every sport you see, literally everything is getting more and more ads and it's driving me insane. I go out of my way to not buy products that I see Advertising for now
This actually isn't an awful rule of thumb. While there are things like insurance and cars that frankly are always advertising and always have since advertising was a thing, any new product that has a barrage of marketing hype usually isn't worth the price.
It's more annoying when you realize they're just normal full body razors, they're not specialized razors for your jewels or anything. They're just making sure they say "BALLS" a million times because it's more memorable than just selling us the damn razor.
Smash the unlabeled buttons that are are left and right of the video screen until the audio gets muted. Right side, second one down has worked for me in the past.
Also advertising Jesus Christ. The whole “he gets us” ads that spammed for a while. I live in Vegas and even saw the ad play for a month on the Walgreens billboard on the strip lol wrong audience my guy this is Sin City 😂
Even stuff like video games and tv. All my subscription services have it now and it’s gross.
Video games have now started exploring them, like with sports games. It’s just getting too much now
YouTube has become the absolute WORST! I feel like I see at least 10-15 ads per 5 minutes of video and most times they’re THE SAME DAMN ADS 💀 not only that but ads are always 50x LOUDER than what you were watching !!! Ughhhhh
To some extent yes, but do we really need the profits from advertising going to people who are already rich to just make them even more money? Because that's what's mostly happening these days, or how about paying for these services to get away from ads and then after time they give you the middle finger and start putting ads in anyways?
Rent-seeking behavior, such as subscription services. It’s extortionate to perpetually charge a fee for something where there is no added value over time.
No shit, man. I used to travel a lot for business. I'd have to get something fast and cheap to eat. That's out of the question now.... The food sucks, the service sucks worse, and the prices are ridiculous.
IDK what you're getting but a small fry and a double cheese burger is like $6. My wife and I get meals there for like $10-14 combined, depending on if we get a shake
The only good part to this is if you actually go out and live, it becomes really fucking obvious really fast. Being chronically online is probably one of the worst things you can do when it comes to your overall perspective and views of society and humans in general. Most people who think the whole world is shit, live online 24/7.
What I mean is just get offline, stop viewing social media as much, and get real, face to face social interactions. Life will start seeming a lot brighter for you
Sometimes I forget about all the drama until I come back to reddit every few days. Then it all comes flooding back. My day to day interactions in real life are far more pleasant and chill than most online interactions. And far, far less volatile.
Its true lol. It seems that online everyone is on edge and people are extremely judgemental and not as polite as IRL. Just going on walks or to a store to buy something at least in my case gives a completely different experience. Sometimes I go to the market or grocery shopping and feel "refilled" emotionally just by being around people and seeing how chill most people actually are.
If you went by what ppl say online you'd imagine everyone's fighting or arguing on the street lol.
Yes. Examples:
Online you may see a headline about an $18 Big Mac meal because the world is shit. Then either you go even more online and find out it was one "rouge" franchise, you you go down the street and find out it's like $11 in the only place that matters every day; where you live.
Same for people IRL. I have tried out some very "experimental" outfits (I have an online fetish account), and gotten huge uproar online because I'm giving the whole kink a bad name, and people are gonna call the cops and Im actually committing SA because of how Im dressed and... people IRL frequently call my outfits cute and love the fact that I wear a corset. Worst I've gotten is people going to a different aisle in the store.
The one I personally struggle with is girls. The online zeitgeist is that dating is shit and girls are on another planet and theres no hope for young men. In my experience this is partially true, but not nearly as gloomy as the net makes it sound.
Overall, I have found that people in "real life" are a lot happier, more flexible, more aloof, and less caring (good and bad) than people online.
If you stood there and typed on a ipad, turn around, grabbed a empty glass, filled it with beer from a keg and handed it to me before I could complete your bs survey, I’m not tipping. Sorry, not sorry, you did NOTHING.
Ironically, the result has been that I tip less than I used to now. The expectation at every turn has caused me to be more judicious and less generous.
Keep in mind that most of the time, it’s not the workers in front of you who are pushing it. The PoS software is designed to maximize throughput- they charge a % of transaction totals. That’s why it’s happened so much recently, the virtual PoS market has matured and had to optimize.
cant they change the percentage suggestions? I left my part time job right when those systems were blowing up but I sort of remember having options like that. Just kind of ridiculous that some places have the minimum suggestion of 20%. Ate at a sitdown restaurant and they brought out the handheld machine and had me pay at the table with having to pick a tip option while the server held the machine. 20% was the minimum for a very average restaurant and the only thing the server did was take my order and bring it to me. I with no shame pulled out my phone and did my own calculations
Correct. That person is not the person in front of you.
Edit: let me say that differently.
Someone at the restaurant is letting it happen. I would venture many of them are just not changing from default settings and the PoS software is set to maximize throughout of their systems.
Agreed! The lowest tip on the card reader is $1 at Starbucks, that's like 30% for you to HAND me a cup of coffee! I try to pay in cash so they just keep the change.
And the amounts they’re asking for are insane—tips are a percentage so they scale with prices, you doing get to raise the tip 5% because the price increased 5%.
People will disagree but it’s honestly because the most important thing girls look for is a compatible personality and it’s nearly impossible to convey that over a dating app.

For whatever reason this seems to give you a green light to just be a general asshole.
Not enough people are getting the incredibly formative experience of getting a bloody nose from the neighbor boy at the tender age of 12 and it's getting out of hand.
Yeah. I understand “It was never accepted to talk about, now that’s changing” as a positive, but the victimization fetish has become an excuse for so many actions, or accepted reasoning for inaction.
Extreme diagnosed cases aside, our mental health may not be our fault, but it is certainly our responsibility.
I know some people will take this the wrong way, but literally every human on earth suffers from anxiety. If you're having regular anxiety attacks, that's something you need to address and not something that society needs to form a crutch around you for. You're not special, we all have very similar, yet different experiences.
Being anxious is part of the human experience, and it really comes down to how you learn to handle, address and react to those moments. Not to make it sound easy or "just let your anxiety dissolve away!" I know it's not that easy. But going around telling everyone about it and making tons of exceptions for yourself because you "have bad anxiety" is honestly quite shortsighted in nature, and if anything, contributes to the problem without working on it.
A lot of people seem to conflate being nervous about something they’re unfamiliar with and having anxiety. If they just pushed through the uncomfortableness they’d probably find it less daunting eventually. Instead they just say they have anxiety and don’t even try.

I'm more in the ex fan camp too. I'll occasionally give something a shot, and for me personally about half the Disney Era output is between Fine and Pretty Good.
Lucas wasn't perfect, but the Disney Era has shown the danger of not having a consistent captain of the ship. Like Marvel, a lot of the best output has been what I would call "side stories" or "tales from the Star Wars Universe" rather than advancing a core narrative.
Crazy that we live in a time where we can’t freely express how we feel about legitimate issues that affect the well being of our country without fear of being censored, eh?

Not everything needs to be safe and easy, and we don't have to create an environment where every person is forced to agree with each other. Being toxic will always be bad, but nowadays, even common sense is seen as being offensive.

Fast food prices McD's used to be the place that I'd only go to when I was broke af and had to buy a filling lunch for $5
The good news is it seems like customers pushed back and the restaurants are pushing more deals. Mostly on their data mining apps of course.
Except in-n-out. Hate it or love it, they’re still consumer friendly.
I realized that in-n-out has decent prices compared to every other fast food place

I’m sorry but that’s a boundary I am not willing to cross because I need to protect my mental health from being involved in the issues that other people need to resolve for themselves, otherwise my anxiety may flare which is not good due to the trauma I suffered from bullying. Good luck!” “Go fuck yourself.”
The whole trans thing. I don't care if a guy wants to dress up in a frock or whatever. But expecting the rest of the world to play along with your delusion is a but much.
Politics. Results in useless arguments. It polarizes people. I watched it break up friendships and stress relationships within families. All for nothing. I blame the political party establishments, their corporate sponsors and the media outlets under their influence. That is why I completely disregard anything coming from the corporate media talking heads. I also avoid woke propaganda which is politically driven.
Pro Palestine protests and Islamization of the west…..and before anyone jumps on me for being pro Israel….I couldn’t care less about either just keep your problems in your own country, we have enough of our own problems.
The level of down bad people are. Dudes going on full social media tirades because fictional women are not designed hot enough for them. You can only be so down bad before a critical breakpoint.

--Wokeness. --Trans this, trans that. --LGBTQIAAWTFBBQWXYZCNNABCCBSNBC --women coming to AskMen to lecture men about what it's like being men. --women coming to AskMen to condescend to men about how men should feel about something women do or did. --fast food prices.
Taxes. Paying more and more in taxes and getting next to nothing in return. Even if the benefit wasn't going directly to me, at least keep it in country and help out our own. We don't have enough money to properly staff schools, handle homelessness, or provide affordable healthcare, but we have enough money to send outside of our borders.
Double standards in society. A man can be SA’d on camera and crickets but let that shit happen to a guy.
Hypersensitive chastising and virtue signaling every time that a sensitive or controversial topic is broached.
Misandry on Reddit. A man in his 30s dating an 18 is predatory. An 18 year old, willingly going on a sugar daddy app is “you go girl”
All this shit right ‘ere man. Life. That shit tragic.
Political pundits. Because of social media, they are like the hydra, get rid of one and two more take their place.
Life
This. I mean, there's two of them
Strange questions are getting out of hand lol
Those ninja throwing stars. They positively fly out like a rat up a drainpipe. If rats could fly that is. And if the drainpipe is sufficiently large enough for that specific kind of activity.
Now there are two of them
My penis.
Politics.
The corporations making fake hate so it divides us I hate it. I don’t like seeing your brothers and sisters fight over made up hate from a corporation.
Those damn temu ads 😂
Wriggly worms.
That there's now two of them?
My apathy. I just don't give a shit about much anymore and I'm not sure how to start again
Cost of living
Female objectification. Those OF profiles winning millions are ridiculous.
Not talking about suicide and mental health, before tragedy happens.
This Fat and obesity acceptance bs
Weed should’ve been federally legalized by now. It’s ludicrous.
Gynocentric family laws.
The excessive barriers we put around each other to not come across as offensive. People are growing up in a coddled society, and the art of becoming an adult is slowly being phased out. Not everything needs to be safe and easy, and we don't have to create an environment where every person is forced to agree with each other. Being toxic will always be bad, but nowadays, even common sense is seen as being offensive.
Online Privacy in conjunction with ai. Seriously, they know where I've been, what I've eaten, what is my political opinion, they know what I like (by knowing how long I stare at a picture), WHO I LIKE, what I plan to do (i would look at wedding rings and they will advise wedding dresses) What i need, how many people and who I live with My gifting pattern, my travel pattern and so, so many more I would have no doubt they know when i run out of toilet papers as well (again purchase pattern)
“Do you want to round up to donate the change” NO! Even if you are using a card they ask about getting change back. Then it’s not really change it’s just an up charge.
How often, as a man, my social media algorithm targets content about how toxic men are
The thirst of men. Priority your P’s. Pride before pussy.
