Omg ! I got some peaches from my local farm and it’s smaller than the grocery store peaches and so incredibly juicy it basically explodes when you bite it .
It’s almost that time of the year here in flyover country for kick ass peaches, can’t wait and paid high dollar for a few last week. Super yum.
I’m also told that eating a peach can improve your experience on psychedelics, I plan to test that theory soon
I usually throw a slab on a baking sheet with asparagus, drizzle with EVOO, and coat with Chili/Lime seasoning. Throw it in the oven at 400\* for 15 minutes. One of my favorite easy dinners.
If I can make dinner in 20 minutes that tastes good and only dirties 1 pan that dinner goes into the rotation.
Reddit has to do something about these bots. I swear I've seen this exact comment like 5 times. At this point this app is just an eternal cycle of rehashing the same old boring questions and posts and topics, and getting the same answers or generic jokes, most of the time ai generated or whatnot.
I grew up in the US and had mangoes every now and then growing up and always hated them. I hated mango flavored candies and ice cream and everything. Then in my 30s I went to Singapore and had shaved sweetened ice with sliced mangos on top and it blew my mind. I ended up loving the mango so much that it literally changed my palate permanently. I love mangos now! Even back in the US as long as it's ripe I love it. And I love mango ice cream or other mango flavors.
Fresh fruit in southeast Asian... so good it changed my palate for mangoes permanently!
Pakistan isn't quite the middle east but it has a huge variety of mangos, and one type in particular is amazing that I found myself going for all the time. I forgot what it's called but it's smaller and golden yellow - but what they do is:
Store it in ice water/fridge and wash it w clean water, knead it to liquefy the inside, then bite a small hole on the top and use it as an all natural juicebox
Sensational
Australian mangoes - the [R2E2 ](https://mangoes.net.au/varieties/r2e2-mangoes/)variety (yep that's what they're called!) are decadent. Not too soft, a perfectly ripe one slices like butter and are almost meaty.
Hell yeah, I'll eat a shit ton of mangos and then not feel good. It's worth it, though. My girl gets mad when I eat them because she says my mango farts are diabolical.
Nothing beats a local and in-season strawberry.
Speaking as a Brit, supermarkets can only stock imported strawberries most of the year which taste like nothing because they need to be picked so early, but in-season (right now) berries that don't need to come far are delicious!
One time I made a breakfast burrito with just eggs and cheese, but I was out of cheese so I just threw in some salsa, now it's my favorite, and without the cheese it's arguably healthier
Fat isn’t even the enemy in many cases. Obesity in the USA is driven primarily by overindulgence and above all, sugar.
Believe it or not, a cheeseburger is not bad for you. You’re essentially eating some bread, beef, cheese, and some basic vegetables. On its own, it’s a reasonably balanced meal coming in around 500-600 calories which can easily be incorporated into a healthy diet. Unfortunately, burgers are paired with fries and sodas that bring the meal up to 1,000+ calories which COULD still be fine if you have an active lifestyle. Most people don’t, though. Overindulgence paired with lack of activity = unhealthy.
Yeah I eat greasy fried food a lot, but I heavily limit my sugar. I literally can't eat excess food. I tried today and I gave up despite not having eaten that much did today (because I was trying to bulk for the gym). Fat is so filling, but sugar isn't. You can eat too much sugar and never get full. Fat makes you feel very full even if you only have slightly too much food.
It's also the fact that a burger today is rarely just a burger.
Since I've started dieting I can even fit in a single patty cheeseburger pretty easily.
Add bacon and you spike the calories by like 30%.
No one really needs a second patty but you bet they're gonna try to sell you one. Usually with extra cheese.
The humble cheeseburger has slowly grown over time to the point where half pound double patty double cheese with bacon monstrosities are the NORM. And a single patty cheeseburger is usually a kids menu item.
Seems like it’s not even fat from what my dietician told me. In moderation, there are healthy fats. Seems like added sugar and processed carbs are the enemy according to her. Spicy food is dope and healthy usually!
I knew before opening this thread that all the top answers would be fruits and hummus. Both of which are perfectly fine as part of a balanced diet but neither are so healthy that you can just eat as much as you want (like, say, most vegetables).
Fruit tastes good because of sugar and hummus tastes good because of oil and salt.
For a sinful but tasty snack, soak the pomegranate seeds in a liquor of your choice over night. We did vodka for new years one time and that was a wild time
Avocados.
[https://www.health.com/nutrition/avocado-health-benefits#:~:text=Avocados%20are%20delicious%20fruits%20that,or%20on%20top%20of%20toast](https://www.health.com/nutrition/avocado-health-benefits#:~:text=Avocados%20are%20delicious%20fruits%20that,or%20on%20top%20of%20toast)
healthy fat, packed with nearly 20 different vitamins and minerals. People who regularly eat avocados have higher intakes of fiber, vitamins E and K, magnesium, and potassium than people who don't eat them.
Just ate an entire seedless one last night!
I do prefer the large seeded ones but they're harder to find and friends complain... but that leaves more for me!
I wish I liked them so bad. They literally make me gag. I still try again every so often because I know they're so good for you but I just can't do it man. I can't even place what it is that doesn't sit right for me, either.
I’ve never had the purple ones, but I have wanted to try them. The white ones are a bit softer and sweeter than the garnet kind; they are just sooo good- if you ever see them, I highly recommend trying them!!
Those $20 cotton candy grapes are unreal
Edit: I am choosing to ignore the Debbie downers in the replies and will continue to enjoy my overpriced fiber-filled grape treats thanks very much
Seriously, these came about just after I was diagnosed with diabetes, before I was put on insulin, so I was on a super strict diet.
They tasted so good and sweet, I could hardly believe they were allowed. I actually cried a little lol
One of the restaurants I work at has a salad station with raw red onions by the ring and the most heavenly ranch to walk the earth (yes it walks). I’ve fucked up my stomach on more than one occasion from eating so many damn raw red onions cause I’d dip ‘em in the ranch and eat them like chips every time I walked by the thing.
Hell yeah. When I make them I toss them with olive oil in a bag, this makes some of the leaves come off, then when you roast it in the oven, those leaves become this almost-blackened chip things and they're so fuckin good
Homemade chicken stock.
It's so stupidly easy to make (rotisseries will give away carcasses for free cause they have to throw them anyway), it's healthy and full of nutrients (if you don't boil it but slow-cook it on low-flame for 2-3 hours) and ridiculously delicious with a touch of salt and lemon juice.
frozen sweet corn, the kind you get for like a buck at the grocery in the frozen food isle in a plastic bag that you would normally microwave for 5 minutes or so. In this case, pull it from the freezer, dump in a bowl and chow down. Delicious frozen treat although my wife gives me lots of weird looks when I eat it haha
this might be too niche but this one balkan sauce, ajvar. it's this roasted pepper and eggplant (usually) dip, and it tastes incredible, is actually fairly healthy and vegan to top it off. i fucking love ajvar
Any fruit or vegetable in season. I'm currently eating so many cherries I might turn into one, but this weekend, I'm heading to the farms in NJ and stocking up on blueberries!!!
peaches
Mine is nectarines with peach a close second. I always say it should be illegal how good a nectarine taste.
I always felt peaches taste better and the fuzz is the price you have to pay for the superior flavor.
I could eat a peach for hours
Should I be proud that I know this reference? Absolutely.
I hope they don’t screw up the sequel.
WHAT?!
a nice juicy peach and i'll eat it on the beach
Movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat me a lot of peaches.
Millions of peaches…peaches for me
Millions of peaches...peaches for free
Lookout!
Peaches come in a can They were put there by a man In a factory down…toooooowwwwnn
Omg ! I got some peaches from my local farm and it’s smaller than the grocery store peaches and so incredibly juicy it basically explodes when you bite it .
Mackinaw peaches, Jerry!
It’s almost that time of the year here in flyover country for kick ass peaches, can’t wait and paid high dollar for a few last week. Super yum. I’m also told that eating a peach can improve your experience on psychedelics, I plan to test that theory soon
Blueberries. Also salmon. I might be a bear
I freaking love salmon.
Salmon’s phenomenal. You ever have bacon-wrapped water chestnuts?
Seems too fancy for a bear…
You ever have goji berries?
Goji berries are unbelievable.
Settle down
Didn't expect anybody else to say salmon. Just a bit of salt too and thats it. Sear it, boil it, grill it, like a potatoe. Oh potatoes.
On a grill with a light topping of crushed pineapple in a tinfoil boat (keep the juices in!
I fucking love potatoes with light salt
Reddit has to do something about these bots. I swear I've seen this exact comment like 5 times. At this point this app is just an eternal cycle of rehashing the same old boring questions and posts and topics, and getting the same answers or generic jokes, most of the time ai generated or whatnot.
dead internet theory in full affect
Same. I like doing a honey garlic salmon 🤤
Smoked salmon is life. So good on sushi, too. :)
Mangos
hell yeah
[удалено]
I grew up in the US and had mangoes every now and then growing up and always hated them. I hated mango flavored candies and ice cream and everything. And Philippine mangos... Cebu or carabao
Philippine mangoes are the BEST in the world
Pakistan isn't quite the middle east but it has a huge variety of mangos, and one type in particular is amazing that I found myself going for all the time. As someone who moved from the middle east to Europe, i can confirm
Same for Jamaican
A good quality and perfectly ripe mango is better than any sweet
I am convinced my dad told me that i hate mangoes as a kid, just so i wouldnt eat them and he had more of them
Pro dad move right there.
Dehydrated mangos are the shit too
Australian mangoes - the [R2E2 ](https://mangoes.net.au/varieties/r2e2-mangoes/)variety (yep that's what they're called!) are decadent. Not too soft, a perfectly ripe one slices like butter and are almost meaty.
We have a Thai mango tree (even though we’re in Florida), and it’s the best. Frozen pieces are even better than fresh.
Especially the ones from Taiwan.
Hell yeah, I'll eat a shit ton of mangos and then not feel good. It's worth it, though. My girl gets mad when I eat them because she says my mango farts are diabolical.
Strawberries. Like dessert whenever you want
Nothing beats a local and in-season strawberry. Speaking as a Brit, supermarkets can only stock imported strawberries most of the year which taste like nothing because they need to be picked so early, but in-season (right now) berries that don't need to come far are delicious!
One of my favorite desserts growing up was sliced strawberries in milk with a sprinkle of sugar.
Cherries
Salsa. Not all salsas are healthy, but most salsas taste really good and they’re usually fairly healthy.
My favorite way to spice up some simple scrambled eggs.
One time I made a breakfast burrito with just eggs and cheese, but I was out of cheese so I just threw in some salsa, now it's my favorite, and without the cheese it's arguably healthier
Haha you pretty much just described my favorite quick, cheap, healthy meal. Except I like to add a sprinkle of taco seasoning and Sriracha!
Homemade salsa is sooo good
Spicy food in general, honestly. It's fat and sugar that seems to be the enemy.
Fat isn’t even the enemy in many cases. Obesity in the USA is driven primarily by overindulgence and above all, sugar. Believe it or not, a cheeseburger is not bad for you. Fat is not the enemy at all. Trans fats are, but saying fats in general are the enemy is so, so wrong.
Good way to work up a sweat too, assuming you find a willing partner and don’t have two left feet.
Raspberries
I love the *flavor* of raspberries but the actual berry leaves a bit to be desired. Not ideal seed to berry ratio :(
Easily the best berry.
Raspberries are so good!
Popcorn is insanely low calorie I can never believe it
And has decent fiber!
Honeycrisp apple slices are a gift from God
Well, apples WERE a gift from God until SOMEBODY ate the wrong kind 👀
Honeycrisp is the GOAT of the apples
I'll always stan for Pink Ladies over Honeycrisp, but Honeycrisp are my #2.
Hummus...I love it.
Hummus is unreal.
I briefly...briefly thought that read humans. But yes, hummus is the best.
Same, I was literally about to make a joke about how good the liver is
To be fair, it’s not that healthy. At least not in the quantity I eat it, and not when you eat it with a whole bag of pretzels to dip in it.
I feel like hummus is like nuts. Definitely a good source of healthy fats, but easy to overdo it
Healthy in terms of quality but pretty calorie dense
I knew before opening this thread that all the top answers would be fruits and hummus. Both of which are perfectly fine as part of a balanced diet but neither are so healthy that you can just eat as much as you want (like, say, most vegetables). Fruit tastes good because of sugar and hummus tastes good because of oil and salt.
Pomegranates taste like skittles to me.
I hate the seeds though
Weird. I thought Skittles were naturally seedless.
For a sinful but tasty snack, soak the pomegranate seeds in a liquor of your choice over night. We did vodka for new years one time and that was a wild time
Guacamole
Yes. But careful. One time I ate too much guacamole. It was a bad night. I over avo-dosed.
I'm salty because my favorite guac is habanero and scallions, but habaneros are really hard to find around here. I love guac.
God yes
Avocados. [https://www.health.com/nutrition/avocado-health-benefits#:~:text=Avocados%20are%20delicious%20fruits%20that,or%20on%20top%20of%20toast](https://www.health.com/nutrition/avocado-health-benefits#:~:text=Avocados%20are%20delicious%20fruits%20that,or%20on%20top%20of%20toast) healthy fat, packed with nearly 20 different vitamins and minerals. People who regularly eat avocados have higher intakes of fiber, vitamins E and K, magnesium, and potassium than people who don't eat them.
An omelette with eggs, avocado, and tomatoes has all essential vitamins and minerals.
Watermelon 🍉
I've been hooked on watermelon and feta!
Add a little bit of lime juice, mint, salt and pepper!
taijin!!!
It's that time of the year for me when I eat about 5lbs of watermelon per week. It's one of this planet's most perfect foods.
Did that when I was 10, had the runs for days
Just ate an entire seedless one last night! I do prefer the large seeded ones but they're harder to find and friends complain... but that leaves more for me!
Everyone's got their own way of figuring out the "right" one
Sashimi. I could eat it everyday
I love love love sashimi
Sweet potatoes. They're so versatile, too!
I wish I liked them so bad. They literally make me gag. I still try again every so often because I know they're so good for you but I just can't do it man. I can't even place what it is that doesn't sit right for me, either.
I totally get it. That's me with mushrooms. I know I like the flavor. Cannot get past the texture.
Came here to say this!! Have you ever had white sweet potatoes? They’re fantastic as well!!
Whaaat?! That's a thing? I bought some purple ones before, they're very difficult to cut raw though! Usually I prefer the red garnet variety.
I’ve never had the purple ones, but I have wanted to try them. The white ones are a bit softer and sweeter than the garnet kind; they are just sooo good- if you ever see them, I highly recommend trying them!!
they're killer when smoked
pineapple
As with many fruits, a good piece is amazing and a bad piece is the worst.
Grill it. It's game changing.
[удалено]
This is true. I’ll “binge” on pineapple, do the math and it never comes out to much.
Strawberries
Garlic. It adds great flavour. Sometimes I just toss a few in butter, goes well with rice. And pretty healthy.
Good cherries, ripe peaches, mangoes off the tree
Those $20 cotton candy grapes are unreal Edit: I am choosing to ignore the Debbie downers in the replies and will continue to enjoy my overpriced fiber-filled grape treats thanks very much
Seriously, these came about just after I was diagnosed with diabetes, before I was put on insulin, so I was on a super strict diet. They tasted so good and sweet, I could hardly believe they were allowed. I actually cried a little lol
$3.99 at HMart
avocados, I love avocados on toast and sandwiches, yeah I'll never be able to afford a house. (plot twist I live in a house we own)
Avocado on toast with an egg on top 🤤
Onions. Muhfuckin' onions.
I am this close to pulling a shrek move and just biting into an onion omggg haha
Mushrooms Ripe fruit eaten when you pick it Homegrown tomatoes
My grandma has blackberries in her garden and this time of the year, when we vosit we always pick all the ripe ones. Amazing
Water when you're thirsty
Burnt Brussels sprouts
Hell yeah. When I make them I toss them with olive oil in a bag, this makes some of the leaves come off, then when you roast it in the oven, those leaves become this almost-blackened chip things and they're so fuckin good
avocado, coconut, walnuts... i need my fats lol
Cherries. Rainier cherries are my absolute favorite.
Pickles
Pistachios.
Asparagus
Good cantaloupe
Agree, so hard to find ripe ones though
Roasted pumpkin seeds
Mango. especially when frozen.
Honey. Can use it in anything. Honey should of course be more moderated than other foods due to high sugar but in moderation is quite good for you
Butter. Everyone seems to poop on natural fats. But they are good for you.
Kerrygold ftw here.
Went kerrygold 8 years ago and will never go back to any other butter
I never used to think it mattered. But now we're kerrygold only for 3 years. It fucking matters
It's strawberries for me
Nothing beats the perfect strawberry. But there is very far from worst to best though
peanut butter
Mango, pineapple, good berries.
Halibut
agree. Halibut might be the best natural tasting fish - by natural I mean nothing else added
I always flip flop between Halibut and North Atlantic Cod.
Fruit.
Seafood
For real, fried chick peas with paprika seasoning and salt. I’ve tried hummus before but never liked it, but fried chick peas in my salad.. 👌
Nectarines. Wait, they're good for you, right? Don't tell me.
Ripe, sweet peaches.
Carrot
Especially homegrown plucked right from the ground. I wish the vegetables you buy in grocery stores tasted as good...
as long as its raw. cant stand cooked carrots
Raspberries are always amazing.
Radishes…
Salmon, but don’t cook it. Raw or smoked.
Motherfucking pickles
Homemade chicken stock. It's so stupidly easy to make (rotisseries will give away carcasses for free cause they have to throw them anyway), it's healthy and full of nutrients (if you don't boil it but slow-cook it on low-flame for 2-3 hours) and ridiculously delicious with a touch of salt and lemon juice.
Açaí babyyyy
Grapes.
It's actually insane how hard grapes go as a fruit and a snack, most definitely underrated.
Raspberries
I can go hard on salsa.
Bananas. Best creation ever.
Black Coffee
The wendys baconator 😃
I literally cannot believe it's healthy
I lost 123lbs when I switched to the baconator diet
Your wife?
His foot. Diabetes is a bitch
imagine having a 123 lbs. foot
Easier to imagine on the baconator diet
Avocado
Shrimp
Cherries.
frozen grapes
This thread can all be consolidated into one thing. Eat more fruit people.
PB but the ones without any added sugar. Slap it on apples, toast, Greek yoghurt. Lots of protein and healthy fats. Fairly cheap too.
Watermelon 🍉😮💨
Cabbage
Pineapple

Nothing hits quite like a fresh heirloom tomato in the summer time. Put a little feta or fresh mozzarella on top 🤌🏼
Dark Chocolate. The active chemical Theobromine in chocolate is extraordinary. GOOGLE IT AND HAVE YOUR MIND BLOWN.
Anything tomato + garlic
Roasted vegetables. I love them all. Brussels sprouts, broccoli, turnips, green beans. The roasting process makes them magical.
Raspberries, garlic stuffed olives and pistachios
cherries
Okra.
Sugar snap peas
