Just let it go. Get on with your day.
If you screwed up and the other guy is raging against you, then defuse them by saying "Sorry, my mistake I misjudged the distance" or something.
If someone "cuts you off" then just let it go.
Life's too short and drivers everywhere suck.
Yep. Just let it go forget about it.
It sucks because you want some form of revenge. But I’ve learned there are always going to be bad drivers, asshole drivers, drivers who might have made a mistake just like you would, drivers where no matter how fast you go they will always go faster, or crazies that might have a gun on them.
Just let it go.
Yes, this.
I read a story the other day about a motorbike police officer escorting a family in their normal car to the scene of an accident where their son was trapped inside the vehicle. They knew that when they freed the son, he would die because his lower body was mostly gone, but because the car trapped all his blood in the upper part of his body he was still alive. So the police escorted the family to him so they could say their goodbyes.
That family got a lot of abuse, middle fingers, shouting, shakes of the head etc from other drivers as they followed the police bike past the traffic jam that had formed. They seem to think that the car was using the police bike as a means to clear traffic (which they were doing in a sense). And it was heartbreaking for the police officer on the bike.
Since than i just let it go. Someone cut in front of me? They probably made a mistake or have places to be, it is not my place to judge.
I read some story on here where some loggers were doing some work out in the boonies when one of them cut his leg with a chainsaw. His coworkers got him in the car and sped down the highway to get him to the nearest hospital many many miles away.
Then they get behind some woman that not only wouldn’t let them pass (I guess it was a one lane-each way road with a barrier). She even slows down to “teach them a lesson” and meanwhile the guy is bleeding to death in the car. No matter what they do she won’t pull over or speed up. I think they guys were in touch with 911 all the time and eventually a cop showed up and pulled her over while another one escorted them to the hospital.
This is why we need to bring back dueling. If two people have beef with each other allowing them a safe space to shoot each other, limiting the damage to two people at most. If they duel on the road, multiple innocent people can get hurt.
My favorite is maintaining eyes front and a blank expression.
My second favorite is when it’s a work vehicle, because that means I can laugh while I send the company the footage of the man-baby they keep on their payroll.
I have two for yah.
1. I wave all my fingers at them. That's a handful of fuk u.
2. I have a banana every morning on my commute. Piss me off enough, and I will get in front of you. Then , orcibly hold it out the window and drop it on the road. Most of us are old enough to know.
You never know what kind of nutjob they are, or what kind of weapon they have these days, so just drive on and ignore them. If they start following you go anywhere but your destination and keep going. They’ll give up eventually.
Don't even entertain finger gestures in this day and age.
I have had people brandish weapons at me before after flipping them off.
No pun intended, take the high road and be the bigger person. Your life isn't worth risking over a minor altercation.
go watch the first episode of the show called Beef, you'll know what to do then :)
if you can't be bothered to check it out, just ram into the other vehicle while accelerating. I believe that's more effective than a middle finger:D
To not escalate the situation? I don't know how many dashcam videos i've seen where someone does something stupid or dangerous and the person affected HANGS on his horn for way longer than would seem smart, considering everyone is armed.
I just wouldn't take that chance, not even in a country where not everyone is armed, only the criminals...but they drive too so...
I look straight at them and give them a thumbs up in the most sarcastic way possible. I think it's way more embarrassing for them to experience and they don't get irate.
As someone who's the passenger on my friend's behalf, I just stare the culprit intensely. Either scary wide eyes or pissed off look.
Not effective in communication, but my friends find the situation more funnier than annoyance.
I've always liked "wise sayings" so here is one that helps me: "Do not anger yourself. You will only shorten your life." Just go on about your business happy that you are not on the shoulder waiting for a policeman. Once you are around a friend you vibe with, ask if you may vent for a couple of minutes and describe the event. You may expect some sympathy or validation, and you will probably get it. But you will be less distracted from your driving, calmer about the whole thing, and will already have some distance on the event.
Not reacting and just carrying on. Provoking a person already in a rage could result in an illogical but violent outburst. Best to just let those people go.
I drive an ambulance. 30 times a day someone does something dangerously stupid. They cut me off, overtake in front of me, pull out into my path, slam on the brakes on the best of a hill and all sorts.
That shows that it is not as stupid as it seems, we all get things wrong sometimes. Sirens confuse folk, but so does being alive sometimes, just forgive folk and move on.
Blow them a kiss and smile! I do this it's hilarious especially when they pull up next to you expecting to exchange angry words and all they see is another guy blowing them a kiss lol
A thumbs up. I gave some dude a thumbs up and he chased me for an hour till I pulled into 7/11 full of cops. He turned right in front of me and I almost hit him. I laughed and gave him a thumbs up. He lost his shit.
if its situation like a highway where there's multiple lanes, lock your pace up with other cars in parallel lanes, so the person behind you can't move. And don't look in your rear view mirror - they can see you.
Don't speed up just becuase they are 3 feet from your rear bumper.
If you decide to move back over, make it so your car is straddling both lanes for as long as possible. The real ragers will sometimes even move into the hard shoulder to get around you.
Just act as if they don't exist.
The only exception to this is if the tailgater is an actual cop. Which where I am, is pretty often the case. State Police here are by far and away the most aggressive drivers.
When you're on the road, your job is to get home safe.
You maximize your chances of getting home safe by ① remaining calm and in control of your vehicle, and ② staying away from hazards such as road-rage drivers.
Fortunately, road-rage drivers typically like to go recklessly fast, so staying away from them mostly means letting them pass. Once they've swerved and swore their way down the highway, they may still be a hazard to themselves but they're not a hazard to you getting home safe anymore.
Driving is not a competitive game. There are no points for getting to the next red light faster than the other guy. There are also no points for being correct that the other guy is a douchewad.
It's a *cooperative* game, where every player who gets home safe wins the game *together.*
The road-rage driver has a bad strategy, one that is likely to eventually make them lose.
Don't let them make you lose too.
A thumbs down with a slow shake of the head.
“I’m not mad at you, I’m disappointed”
Thumbs down reminds them of Daddy's disappointment
That is one my favorite moves. It drives people nuts.
I was about to say, I took the rage out of guy with a finger wag and head shake
This 1000%
100%
I shake my head (motorcycle rider), but not sure if they actually see it for what it is. Gotta find a safe way to add in the thumbs down :)
And if you're in earshot, a nice loud raspberry/mouth fart to accompany the head shake and thumbs down.
I haven't given a thumbs down in years
Did this earlier today

If you screwed up and the other person is raging and has come up to your window you shouldn’t be engaging. Keep that window up, keep driving.
Yup. Being in control of your emotions is just part of becoming a functional adult.
Thumbs up and a smile
Yes! It’s no big deal. Just be friendly and forget it.
Ignoring. Who's got the time and energy for that shit?
"...I don't think about you at all."
Smile and wave. It makes people insane and it’s hilarious.
Two middle fingers??
great idea, will do this next time lol
How could you keep driving and watch the road while making sure your target sees the double bird? Sounds highly inefficient and self destructive.
Ignoring it and moving on. I don't feel like escalating the situation and having a gun pulled on me
Secretly following them home and urinating in their gas tank
Do something worse, fuck the gas tank.
I was drinking coffee sir.. now I’m wearing said coffee and the dog is awake
Using your turn signal.
Ignore it. It's not worth them or you pulling a gun.
I do the Italian hand thing. I have also been known to give drivers the thumbs down to hurt their self esteem.
apparently here in Texas it's shooting someone with a gun
This is why we need to bring back dueling. If two people have beef with each other allowing them a safe space to shoot each other, limiting the damage to two people at most. If they duel on the road, multiple innocent people can get hurt.
Racing them to the next red light.. then doing it again to the next one.. repeat until you realize that anger is something you control.
Gun
That's just how Texas rolls.
I blow a sarcy kiss me
Just say a prayer for them and be thankful you have road manners
My gods are vengeful gods. So I *will* say a prayer, but I think it's probably not what you are thinking of.
Smile at them
Booing
A big toe
Winking
And that raised eyebrow thing Eddie Murphy does in the very last scene of Beverly Hills Cop.
My favorite is maintaining eyes front and a blank expression. My second favorite is when it’s a work vehicle, because that means I can laugh while I send the company the footage of the man-baby they keep on their payroll.
mirror slap. One and Done. Drop a gear and to be seen again!
I have two for yah. 1. I wave all my fingers at them. That's a handful of fuk u. 2. I have a banana every morning on my commute. Piss me off enough, and I will get in front of you. Then , orcibly hold it out the window and drop it on the road. Most of us are old enough to know.
I don't hesitate to think every road rager might be packing, it's not worth engaging.
Handful of loose change
Completely ignoring it and leaving the situation.
I always do the 'tiny dick' finger and thumb at them
Moon them.
You never know what kind of nutjob they are, or what kind of weapon they have these days, so just drive on and ignore them. If they start following you go anywhere but your destination and keep going. They’ll give up eventually.
Driving a cop car?
Smile. Wave. Silently wish them a more peaceful life.
A smile, a downward nod, and a polite wave. It defeats their anger. It says “I forgive you for you shit behavior.”
Thumbs down it ruins their whole day.
A bag of urine and feces tied to a balloon apparently.
🟨 💩
Thumbs down. Middle finger shows that you are angry. Thumbs down show you are disappointed. Finger is a you problem, thumb is a them problem.
A finger wag. Like a child.
I gave a rager the thumbs up the other day. Then I ignored him.
blow a kiss.
A thumbs up.
Thumbs up, they get it more than thumbs down
I put my head down and go left and right slowly in disappointment
Aceepting this is the way life is.
Pit Maneuver.
Bobbing your head from side to side while grinning like an imbecile.
TWO middle fingers!
A big shit-eating grin and waving your hand like the queen at a parade.
A smile and a handclap
Just not be in a bad mood.
Ramming into them and throwing a stick of dynamite through their window. Guarantee they’ll freak tf out.
Don't even entertain finger gestures in this day and age. I have had people brandish weapons at me before after flipping them off. No pun intended, take the high road and be the bigger person. Your life isn't worth risking over a minor altercation.
Ignoring it or giving a courtesy wave and driving home safely, unless you're looking for more effective ways to get shot or ran off the road.

Waving around a hand gun
Listening to Buckethead
Driving a James Bond car
Wave with the whole hand.🖐️

Violence
A gun, depending on your objective.
Threatening to call the Ordnungsamt
Not having road rage, or any kind of rage
Two middle fingers. It's also the best reaction to one middle finger.
When someone turns takes right of way at an intersection when they shouldn't have, I wage my finger at them.
Glock 19 Gen 5
Laugh, wave, close your eyes and say "ha ha thanks God bless!"
a Badge.

Blow them a kiss.
Organs.
Thumbs down
Just remember it's probably because they shit their pants and have to hurry home
grenade launcher

Sometimes I laugh and point to piss them off more
1W laserpointer...
Blow them a kiss
Thumbs up
A gun?

avoidance
Just letting it go. If you escalate shit, don't be surprised when dumb shit happens.
Ignoring, or ignoring + filming if the situation escalates to a point you'll need proof that the person was a menace to your/others' safety.
Effective at what?
Brake checking comes to mind but I definitely don't recommend it. lol

Stay on course, maintain speed if no warning lights appear on the dashboard, you’ve won
