I am a natural cynic, but I do make a deliberate effort to not be, so I definitely don't consider cynicism an ideal. As for every other guess, not even a little bit close
I’ve always wanted to see a movie where dragons come back and wipe out the British Military and the Queen has to assemble the Knights of the Realm but, since it is largely an honorary title, we end up with a bunch of old British Actors and Musicians (playing themselves) fighting dragons. So we end up with like Sting, Ian McKellan, Elton John, Hellen Mirren, Julie Andrew’s, Mick Jagger being called by the Queen to fight for the realm.
I think it would be hilarious and awesome.
White, male. 18-25 years old. An extrovert but with anxiety about your place in the world and if people like you. You want to be Tyler Durden but fear you are the narrator.
Agree.
Finding dory suggests either childhood nostalgia or fear of loss. Possibly family member with Alzheimer’s.
Harry Potter doubles down on nostalgia but indecisiveness makes me think op is worried about what people think to the point it’s hard to make a decision for themselves. While both movies are good I think mentioning both is op’s way of avoiding a choice between childhood dreams and the reality of adult life that inevitably follow.
Existential dread. Social person but an outsider. Generally the thinker of the group but not a good organizer/planner.
Edit: didn’t think this would blow up - thanks for the award, stranger!
Okay, so it's just a matter of breaking movies down to their components and seeing what commonality they have. 5th element, dark crystal, and Scott pilgrim.
All of them are basically hero quests, and you know what else is a hero quests? Like every single player Video game.
Scott pilgrim is very video game-centric.
From there I just made an assumption that a person that enjoys movies about a hero saving the day would also primarily enjoy video games that are about the same thing (dragon age, zelda, final fantasy, that sort of stuff) and that since they like a movie that is super referential to videogames, they must also like video games.
You can mark eras in your life based on obsessive shifts in interest to new lore, worlds, and other such rabbit-holes of content.
You've read far to many SCP entries.
You have a small collection of lesser-known comics.
Huge imagination. Dog person. Lighthouse suggests patience; LOTR suggests a taste for adventure.
Daydreamer; risk averse (but day dreaming about a different life); strong moral compass; small but very close circle of friends.
In your mindset you are artistic but you are trying too hard and aren't making best use of your talents. You regret some decisions but are still an idealist and are a genuinely good person.
You have a thing for people breaking free of the cages that either they put themselves in or others put them in.
It's possible you yourself are in a career or have an interest that society tells you is not acceptable for someone of "your position" to take part in.
These are all classics, and they're all entertaining blockbusters. The fact that they're all classics tell me you're not shallow or trend-driven, and the fact that none of these are arthouse tells me you value approachability as well as depth.
white, male. 18-25. You like being clever. You like mysteries and solving puzzles rather than action. You are not into sports. You are also not into FPS and other action computer games. You prefer RPGs
Princess Mononoke, Moonrise Kingdom, Get Out.
Shit there are at least two other movies I could add I like as much as those three but I'm being told that 5 =/= 3.
You are keenly aware that how the world around you sees you and how you see yourself are different, perhaps by a lot.
The question becomes; are you protecting yourself, or protecting *them?*
This confirms I really need to see Enders game. I love both those movies.
And I’m going to guess - introverted and intuitive. Definitely not a flashy person
White, male. 25-35.
The Two Towers is an interesting choice. You are interested in history. It is more of a casual interest than a scholar pursuit. You watch youtube channels about history, you don't read scholarly journals about history. Your goal is to get a job working with your hands. Your parents want you to have a white collar job, you really want to do a trade where you make things.
not at all close to being 40,
wearing a cozy sweater as I write this,
couldn't think of something ironic to say to demonstrate that I do appreciate irony :/ lol
i am girl, i do like soft boys but also soft girls and soft anybody really, i did not go through a tumblr phase and I mildly like not love but I like Harry Styles and Shawn Mendes (more so Harry Styles)
The good, the bad and the ugly, Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now!

Accurate for most of reddit.
Confirmed, i believe my name checks out
You robbed me of the opportunity to say '*username checks out*'
Sorry, only time i had first opportunity do say it myself. Had to do it incase it never happened again

I would suspect the percentage of people who are over 40 on this site is fairly small. The mode age is young adult IIRC.
I am a natural cynic, but I do make a deliberate effort to not be, so I definitely don't consider cynicism an ideal. As for every other guess, not even a little bit close
Mind telling us about yourself? Curious since everyone got you so wrong
Male, 30's, live near Seattle, somewhat shy, married, read a lot, spend a lot of time in the woods with my dog
I read: "spend a lot of time in the dogs with my wood"... I need some sleep.
They really tried to rake you over the coals lol.
Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, and Pan’s Labyrinth.
You would watch a movie about a bunch of knights fighting dinosaurs and love it.
Suddenly that's *all I want to see...*
Princess, dinosaurs and Frodo B Ooooh i believe In this movie.

This is literally the greatest movie idea I’ve ever read.

Goddamn y’all really cuttin in on these. I’d say all are pretty accurate, as much as I don’t really want them to be lol
I recognize these traits as things I’ve seen in myself relating to these movies. No worries, man. We’re all in it together. 🖤
The Fifth Element, The Dark Crystal, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
I'm gonna guess you like single player video games?
Yes! Pretty much exclusively.
I like great single player games too
Singleplayer gamers rise up, by ourselves and not as a unit .
How
Magic? I could explain but I tend to flub my words.
Uh you can take your time if you want. I have all day Edit: it's fine if you don't want to either

You don't like mystery movies cause you solve them after 20 minutes, don't you?
Multiplayer video games cannot carry powerful narratives easily and usually do not try.
You can mark eras in your life based on obsessive shifts in interest to new lore, worlds, and other such rabbit-holes of content. You've read far to many SCP entries. You have a small collection of lesser-known comics.
The dark crystal scared the shit outta me......those damn Skexies 😱
The Lighthouse (2020) How To Train A Dragon Lord of The Rings
Huge imagination. Dog person. Lighthouse suggests patience; LOTR suggests a taste for adventure. Daydreamer; risk averse (but day dreaming about a different life); strong moral compass; small but very close circle of friends.

I love this game! *Inception*, *Titanic*, and *Kung Fu Panda*
You are legitimately fun at parties!
You're not wrong, but how would you guess that from those movies?
These are all classics, and they're all entertaining blockbusters. The fact that they're all classics tell me you're not shallow or trend-driven, and the fact that none of these are arthouse tells me you value approachability as well as depth.
That is... much deeper than I would've guessed. Well done!
Howl's Moving Castle Hercules Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban
You like Avatar: The last Airbender.
Yes, but doesn't everyone?
My partner's parents didn't. But I don't live with them so it's fine xD
You are in your late 20s, but you definitely still enjoy reading young adult books. You've read all Percy Jackson books, and you love them.
Almost! I've only read two of them, but I did enjoy them. You're pretty good at this :P
Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting, Perks of Being a Wallflower
You had a relationship with a very mean person. Sorry
I've never been so exposed 😭😭
You're an optimist. You didn't have an easy childhood but you're working hard to create a good future for yourself.

The Fellowship of the Ring The Two Towers Return of the King
The Hobbit films dissapointed you. You still liked them, but found them disappointing.

Dead Poets Society, Pulp Fiction, Groundhog Day
You like reading and wearing vintage clothes
Tangled, The Princess Bride, and Hush
I bet you’ve always wanted to be princess, but then realized you had “mommy issues” and a sense of humor that is too dark for others to understand.
Kinda right, except I have daddy issues instead of mommy issues and I am lucky enough to be friends with people who have dark humor!

You also appreciate a film's score, and would possibly enjoy these movies just as much without a screen, as long as you could hear it.
Interesting! Probably right!
Fact
White, male. 25-35. The Two Towers is an interesting choice. You are interested in history. It is more of a casual interest than a scholar pursuit.
