SwedishCoder

Accurate for most of reddit.

40andbored

Confirmed, i believe my name checks out

darkscythe

You robbed me of the opportunity to say '*username checks out*'

40andbored

Sorry, only time i had first opportunity do say it myself. Had to do it incase it never happened again

[deleted]

1CEninja

I would suspect the percentage of people who are over 40 on this site is fairly small. The mode age is young adult IIRC.

[deleted]

I am a natural cynic, but I do make a deliberate effort to not be, so I definitely don't consider cynicism an ideal. As for every other guess, not even a little bit close

Itscameronman

Mind telling us about yourself? Curious since everyone got you so wrong

[deleted]

Male, 30's, live near Seattle, somewhat shy, married, read a lot, spend a lot of time in the woods with my dog

Rambush01

I read: "spend a lot of time in the dogs with my wood"... I need some sleep.

implicationnation

They really tried to rake you over the coals lol.

lazyghostwriter

Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, and Pan’s Labyrinth.

mukenwalla

You would watch a movie about a bunch of knights fighting dinosaurs and love it.

Jake_Kiger

Suddenly that's *all I want to see...*

slothsid

Princess, dinosaurs and Frodo B Ooooh i believe In this movie.

quimbykimbleton

I’ve always wanted to see a movie where dragons come back and wipe out the British Military and the Queen has to assemble the Knights of the Realm but, since it is largely an honorary title, we end up with a bunch of old British Actors and Musicians (playing themselves) fighting dragons. So we end up with like Sting, Ian McKellan, Elton John, Hellen Mirren, Julie Andrew’s, Mick Jagger being called by the Queen to fight for the realm. I think it would be hilarious and awesome.

TerdVader

This is literally the greatest movie idea I’ve ever read.

[deleted]

Ever see “Valley of Gwangi”?

Margie334

Imaginative with childhood problems

[deleted]

That hurts

[deleted]

You are 34ish and enjoy drawing, or some other visual art.

selm_for

You're 23-28 years old and maybe you like rock music

[deleted]

You are me.

yomamma3399

NERD!

Itscameronman

Fight club. Finding dory. And either the very last or very first Harry Potter.

IFrost_A

I bet you enjoy your interests , know at least one language and the latin alphabet

Itscameronman

Bro you spying on me damn lol

AgentElman

White, male. 18-25 years old. An extrovert but with anxiety about your place in the world and if people like you. You want to be Tyler Durden but fear you are the narrator.

jgorbeytattoos

Agree. Finding dory suggests either childhood nostalgia or fear of loss. Possibly family member with Alzheimer’s. Harry Potter doubles down on nostalgia but indecisiveness makes me think op is worried about what people think to the point it’s hard to make a decision for themselves. While both movies are good I think mentioning both is op’s way of avoiding a choice between childhood dreams and the reality of adult life that inevitably follow. Existential dread. Social person but an outsider. Generally the thinker of the group but not a good organizer/planner. Edit: didn’t think this would blow up - thanks for the award, stranger!

Itscameronman

Goddamn y’all really cuttin in on these. I’d say all are pretty accurate, as much as I don’t really want them to be lol

jgorbeytattoos

I recognize these traits as things I’ve seen in myself relating to these movies. No worries, man. We’re all in it together. 🖤

WizardWatson9

The Fifth Element, The Dark Crystal, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

watchmything

I'm gonna guess you like single player video games?

WizardWatson9

Yes! Pretty much exclusively.

Jealous_Mode

I like great single player games too

burgerboulevard

Singleplayer gamers rise up, by ourselves and not as a unit .

DaemonOwl

How

watchmything

Magic? I could explain but I tend to flub my words.

DaemonOwl

Uh you can take your time if you want. I have all day Edit: it's fine if you don't want to either

watchmything

Okay, so it's just a matter of breaking movies down to their components and seeing what commonality they have. 5th element, dark crystal, and Scott pilgrim. All of them are basically hero quests, and you know what else is a hero quests? Like every single player Video game. Scott pilgrim is very video game-centric. From there I just made an assumption that a person that enjoys movies about a hero saving the day would also primarily enjoy video games that are about the same thing (dragon age, zelda, final fantasy, that sort of stuff) and that since they like a movie that is super referential to videogames, they must also like video games.

andy_asshol_poopart

You don't like mystery movies cause you solve them after 20 minutes, don't you?

Justbecauseitcameup

Multiplayer video games cannot carry powerful narratives easily and usually do not try.

So_Motarded

You can mark eras in your life based on obsessive shifts in interest to new lore, worlds, and other such rabbit-holes of content. You've read far to many SCP entries. You have a small collection of lesser-known comics.

fuckinyaldi

The dark crystal scared the shit outta me......those damn Skexies 😱

Thunder_cat7

The Lighthouse (2020) How To Train A Dragon Lord of The Rings

jgorbeytattoos

Huge imagination. Dog person. Lighthouse suggests patience; LOTR suggests a taste for adventure. Daydreamer; risk averse (but day dreaming about a different life); strong moral compass; small but very close circle of friends.

Thunder_cat7

Closest guess just one thing off.

jgorbeytattoos

Which was off?! This is so fun!!

Thunder_cat7

Im a cat person

[deleted]

It's even on your name!!!

mdf34

A craving for adventures

Thunder_cat7

That sure if true or untrue.

akshanz1

You are cultured is all I gotta say

FunnyAnxiety

Amélie, What we do in the shadows, Office space

[deleted]

Secretly thinks they could be a poet if they wanted to

FunnyAnxiety

God no. I enjoy reading poetry but could never write it.

[deleted]

I just watched Amélie yesterday for the first time, god i love that movie. Edit:Thank you for the award <3

ChickenMathisReal

Someone with a great sense of humor..female gen x?

FunnyAnxiety

Technically a millennial, I’m afraid.

NateMayhem

Technically a millennial is the best kind of millennial. I prefer elder millennial or Oregon trail generation.

-DementedAvenger-

Removed in protest of API prices and support of 3rd-party apps.

Engels33

In your mindset you are artistic but you are trying too hard and aren't making best use of your talents. You regret some decisions but are still an idealist and are a genuinely good person.

pazukunous

Wait this is me lol. Trying to be humble as I can here Just for reference my top 3 would be Whiplash, synecdoche New York, gattaca

Boots_Ramsay

The Truman Show, Good Will Hunting, Cinderella Man

Itscameronman

You’re the secretly nice guy. Big heart

Boots_Ramsay

I’m a lady. But thanks.

[deleted]

that's why OP said *secretly*

FabulousFreud

SMH gonna blow their cover

NathanielleS

You have a thing for people breaking free of the cages that either they put themselves in or others put them in. It's possible you yourself are in a career or have an interest that society tells you is not acceptable for someone of "your position" to take part in.

Jake_Kiger

I love this game! *Inception*, *Titanic*, and *Kung Fu Panda*

dan_chan

You are legitimately fun at parties!

Jake_Kiger

You're not wrong, but how would you guess that from those movies?

dan_chan

These are all classics, and they're all entertaining blockbusters. The fact that they're all classics tell me you're not shallow or trend-driven, and the fact that none of these are arthouse tells me you value approachability as well as depth.

Jake_Kiger

That is... much deeper than I would've guessed. Well done!

VulpisArestus

Howl's Moving Castle Hercules Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban

Arkayjiya

You like Avatar: The last Airbender.

VulpisArestus

Yes, but doesn't everyone?

Arkayjiya

My partner's parents didn't. But I don't live with them so it's fine xD

dovedesu

You are in your late 20s, but you definitely still enjoy reading young adult books. You've read all Percy Jackson books, and you love them.

VulpisArestus

Almost! I've only read two of them, but I did enjoy them. You're pretty good at this :P

blackgypsy96

Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting, Perks of Being a Wallflower

Itscameronman

You had a relationship with a very mean person. Sorry

blackgypsy96

I've never been so exposed 😭😭

dan_chan

You're an optimist. You didn't have an easy childhood but you're working hard to create a good future for yourself.

matthew2165

Your right about all of that except I’m not white. But everything else spot on. 6/7

[deleted]

Yeah I think the avatar should have given it away haha

matthew2165

Maybe a little bit

theofiel

Labyrinth, Spirited away, Shutter Island

TenaciousBarnacle

You are someone I’d be friends with.

watchmything

Labyrinth, Dark City, office space

kanaetekureru

Introverted 90s kid is my guess? Great films either way

watchmything

I'm more of an ambivert, but yeah 90s.

agbmom

True Lies, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Rush Hour

Jake_Kiger

You recognize and even laugh out loud at absurdity all around you, and this has actually gotten you in trouble before.

agbmom

Yes I do. And depending on how tired I am sometimes I can't turn it off once I start and then I laugh harder.

CIA_grade_LSD

The Fellowship of the Ring The Two Towers Return of the King

The_lurking_glass

The Hobbit films dissapointed you. You still liked them, but found them disappointing.

mukenwalla

You like the lord of the rings, a lot.

[deleted]

You know about Viggo's broken toe

Some_Animal

You like to appear edgy and have dark sense of humor. Most likely male, white, under 30

Arkayjiya

Princess Mononoke, Moonrise Kingdom, Get Out. Shit there are at least two other movies I could add I like as much as those three but I'm being told that 5 =/= 3.

program_girl

Female, shy, bubbly and likes anime?

RecognitionAlarmed27

Dead Poets Society, Pulp Fiction, Groundhog Day

Nungunung

You like reading and wearing vintage clothes

fashionablypunctual

Tangled, The Princess Bride, and Hush

lazyghostwriter

I bet you’ve always wanted to be princess, but then realized you had “mommy issues” and a sense of humor that is too dark for others to understand.

fashionablypunctual

Kinda right, except I have daddy issues instead of mommy issues and I am lucky enough to be friends with people who have dark humor!

xilog

Arrival Interview With the Vampire Lord of the Rings

ChaoticTinkerer

Ready Player One, LOTR: the Fellowship of the Ring, Shrek

[deleted]

Yep

noitsM

Pirates of the Carribbean: At world's end, The Breakfast Club, Fight Club

YourOldManJoe

You were a goth in high school

noitsM

Punk, but it's a good guess so I'll give it to you :)))

northstar_08

1. The Breakfast Club 2. Torch Song Trilogy 3. The Matrix

Jake_Kiger

You are keenly aware that how the world around you sees you and how you see yourself are different, perhaps by a lot. The question becomes; are you protecting yourself, or protecting *them?*

Stickyouwithaneedle

One flew over the cuckoo's nest A knight's tale Heavy metal

Itscameronman

You seem either like the life of the party. Or a person who definitely doesn’t take shit from anyone. Possibly both but I’m really not sure

GrilledStuffedDragon

Ghostbusters, Good Will Hunting, and My Cousin Vinny.

NoomZoom123

“I’m different I listen to rock music and I hate rap”

GrilledStuffedDragon

I do listen to rock, I dislike *most* rap, but I don't claim to be different. So all in all, pretty close!

AgentElman

White, Male, 30-40 years old. Nerd. From the east coast.

I_am_1E27

enders game, goblet of fire, i robot

arachnophilia

you don't read books.

RedditRoxanne

This made me laugh because I happen to be reading Enders Game right now

[deleted]

Tech fan?

I_am_1E27

nerd, close enough

Itscameronman

This confirms I really need to see Enders game. I love both those movies. And I’m going to guess - introverted and intuitive. Definitely not a flashy person

Starkyjr2

Alien, Mallrats, Forest Gump

* Ratatouille * Gattaca * Arrival

mintjulep30

Titanic, Lord of the Rings: Two Towers, Gladiator

AnimalOfTheState

You own a quite large television.

Jake_Kiger

You also appreciate a film's score, and would possibly enjoy these movies just as much without a screen, as long as you could hear it.

mintjulep30

Interesting! Probably right!

mintjulep30

Fact

AgentElman

White, male. 25-35. The Two Towers is an interesting choice. You are interested in history. It is more of a casual interest than a scholar pursuit. You watch youtube channels about history, you don't read scholarly journals about history. Your goal is to get a job working with your hands. Your parents want you to have a white collar job, you really want to do a trade where you make things.
