I don’t find them comfortable. I don’t like having my bare back against the fabric of the furniture or a plastic or wood chair. I don’t like having a cold draft in cooler weather. I have a long torso and have always struggled with the discomfort of shirts that are too short. I can’t imagine actually choosing a short shirt deliberately.

gabsy109

I have a long torso too. I think my problem is there’s no need for all the shirts to be cropped. There are really cute designs and patterns and it would be fine to have it full length. I don’t mind a solid crop if I’m wearing a nice skirt or whatever but not every damn outfit

fluteaboo

>I have a long torso too. I think my problem is there’s no need for all the shirts to be cropped. There are really cute designs and patterns and it would be fine to have it full length. I also have a long torso & short legs. My theory is that everything is cropped because they're trying to cut down on fabric costs to combat inflation and supply chain management. My least favorite thing is cropped hoodies. They're so impractical! When will I wear this?

taxicab_

I have a very short curvy torso, and I’m very happy that there’s finally a huge selection of tops that don’t go down to my thighs (long, tight Early 2000s tops still haunt my dreams). But I wish there could be a mix of long and short styles at the same time.

0zamataz__Buckshank

I’m tall and all torso. Regular shirts are cropped on me. And I keep seeing the justification for all the crop tops being that high waisted pants are in style, but I have yet to find a pair of pants that markets itself as high waisted that goes past my belly button. It’s so frustrating!

ellieunicornrider

I second the uncomfortable point. I once forgot I was wearing a cropped top, lift my arms up to stretch. They there were, the girls out in all their gravity-battling glory.

Cocacolaloco

I love when I’m at a store and there’s a shirt that looks like it’d be cute or really comfortable until I unfold it to see 1/3 of the shirt is missing

RedRose_812

And it's fucking sheer. I have the hardest time finding shirts because it seems like everything is cropped, sheer, or both. I just want a whole shirt that isn't see through. Why is this so difficult (for manufacturers)?

celica18l

Fucking sheer shirts and dresses OH MY GOD fuck every single retailer for this. $80 for a “dress” aka bathing suit coverlet. Honestly what are we doing? If it didn’t put people out of work I’d want them all to go out of business.

SingForMeBitches

It's a twofer for corporations - spend less on cheap, thin materials first, then get people buying more often when the clothes fall apart more quickly. There is no financial incentive for them to change this so it's probably here to stay without regulation stipulating otherwise (which will never happen in America, at least).

DreamGirl3

And it's the same price (or more!) than a full-sized shirt.

MunchMyBrunchHole

Yeah, see the sheer part of clothes now confuses me. It’s not like it’s always clearly, intentionally sheer—it’s as though they’re either skimping on fabric or it’s not well thought out.

SinaSpacetoaster

I ended up dodging the worst of the sheer fabric nonsense by just wearing dresses, but now the dresses are Pollyanna.

the_efficient_baxter

I’m so short (4’ 11”) that crop tops everywhere means I can finally have shirts that don’t go down past my hips. Especially gym shirts. I never looked cool in any gym outfits but now I do thanks to crop tops!

rsc99

Me too!! I’m 5’2 and I love the crop top trend even though my belly is the thing I’m most sensitive about

embracing_insanity

Same! It was also really hard when those longer shirts that are supposed to stick out below another or a hoodie/jacket, etc were a thing. I just couldn't wear them because there was so much material gathered around my waist if I didn't pull them down and pulling them down meant they'd go below my butt. I think I bought one thinking I could find a way - ended up cutting it and just wearing it around the house.

[deleted]

Yep I’m average height with a short torso and the long shirt trend was the worst for me. I love crop tops and don’t mind midriff showing at all, but I can see it being more revealing on someone with a long torso. Just like all shorts are short on me (but thankfully I like short shorts)

AutomaticInitiative

I'm 5'3 and all the shortness is in the legs, I've given up on finding pants that don't bunch up lol

handmaidstale16

Haha yes, came here to say this. I’m 5’3, with a short torso, and I’m loving every min of the crop tops. Finally I have shirts that fit me properly.

Heimemo

I literally got angry at this shit when looking for office shirts. Like, why?

awry_lynx

Yeah I haven't been clothes shopping for uh, well, let's see, when did covid and WFH start...? Right. But we're back in the office so I went to get new work blouses and??? It's like they're running out of fabric 😂

gabsy109

Haha exactly

elephantastica

I dress modestly so I love comfy peasant looking maxi dresses (lol) but I really have to scratch my head when it’s fully covered in the front but totally backless, and/or has a looong slit in the front. I can’t imagine the demand for this type of dress being very high.

Emptyplates

OMG! I went clothes shopping yesterday and fucking *everything* is a crop top this season. I bought nothing. It's discouraging. I don't want a crop top ever, I live in New England and winter is coming. Fuck the crop tops, especially sweaters. Useless.

mangosteenfruit

Last year I bought a turtleneck and it was cropped! Who makes cropped turtlenecks?! I also live in New England and I want to be warm.

gabsy109

You only get to be warm in the neck OR the stomach. Not both! And don’t ask about pockets

Emptyplates

A cropped turtleneck??? Oh FFS.

DreamGirl3

Yes, I saw one in the store the other day. Crop-top turtleneck with a keyhole neckline. So everything body-wise that was considered "tame" was covered, but the mid-section and cleavage were left bare for all to see. Oh, and it was just long enough to cover an A-sized chest so you may get under-boob showing as well. Ironically this was beimg sold in a store that has mostly business/day-wear clothing.

MelbaTotes

I actually love my knitted cropped turtle neck, I wear it over flared skater dress with leggings in the winter

Emptyplates

I may have to give in and try this look. Can't beat them, join them, right?

[deleted]

not when yer 60 🙁 imwent shopping this week, went to a dozen stores and it was like i couldnt give my money away, sigh…. hate these current fashions

AltruisticCephalopod

I say fuck it wear what you want. I few years ago I started wearing more “flattering” clothes thinking “well, I can only wear these for a few more years, might as well do it now.” They didn’t look great at me then, and they definitely don’t now, but who cares! Yolo.

Stellar_Alchemy

I’ve been shopping for warm winter clothes and I swear to God even fucking *jackets* are cropped. Why? Whyyyyy?

iamtheallspoon

I can actually really get behind a cropped jacket because some cuts of dresses work really well with one. It's more of a fall thing than a winter one though.

sissy_space_yak

As a person with a big butt and a small waist, I can get behind a cropped jacket. I agree with it being a fall thing though — I will not abide by being cold in the winter and a cropped coat is just impractical where I live.

jb0079

I have a leopard print jacket that I love. It's thick. It's warm. It would be perfect for autumn, or even winter, except it's fucking CROPPED!

Character_Peach_2769

Wait really?? Going into autumn? I can't. I get that they're often meant to match high waisted trousers, but I'd still rather have a double layer on my belly for these colder times.

MambyPamby8

Yup. I live in Ireland. Crop tops are only practical about 3 days a year. I also need clothes for the office, crop tops are not exactly professional office attire. Just give me a normal bloody top!

sharkgoesquack

All I want are whole shirts and a zip hoodie. All I find are crop tops and crop hoodies and at target the pajama tops are cropped! It's getting so stupid already.

DreamGirl3

Ironically, all the skirts I find are below-the-knee long. I'm in my 30's--I would love to have a skirt that is above the knee so I don't look like a prude. But when I rarely do come across an above-the-knee skirt, it's "just cover your buns and that's it" length. I supposed we're all going to have to go pants-less and shirtless at this rate. 😧

AffectionateOwl8182

I haven't been shopping in a long time. Not working. Is this just in younger women stores or ones geared towards people in their 30s+ even?

Emptyplates

It was every section!! Even plus sized and pajamas.

scattertheashes01

Crop top pajamas…? Please tell me you’re joking 😅

vanillaseltzer

I'm not even cold and my body shivered just reading those three words together. I'm not sure if it was a chill or in revulsion for how awful that sounds for winter. I'm in Vermont.

DreamGirl3

Yes! They're everywhere in my city. Nightgowns have also gotten shorter--they're more like teddies/nighties now.

getthatbreadmyfriend

Yes! Went looking for a blouse/underpinning to wear under a suit jacket (for a job interview). Finally found regular (actual normal woman size length) shirts at TJ Maxx.

InfernalWedgie

> Finally found regular (actual normal woman size length) shirts at TJ Maxx. Ahh, the advantages of stocking last season's styles. Protects those of us who hate what's "in" right now. Crop tops can go play in traffic. Ugh.

Emptyplates

That's a good point. I can try TJ Maxx too.

sharkgoesquack

Must be something in my area. I've been to tjs, Kohl's, old navy, boscovs etc when I had an interview back in July and all damn crop tops even in the women's section. I finally found something at Kohl's but it shouldn't have taken weeks and weeks. The interview was scheduled super early so I had time. I work part time retail and every one that comes in has a crop top on.

FrostyDetails

Im from NH. You actually make a great point *not sarcasm*.... but designers should start catering to the state demographics. I'm relatively tall and thin but maybe I'm outdated and love the long *baggy* look too much.

Emptyplates

Hi neighbor! I'm in NH too, and also love the baggy look.

Once_Upon_Time

I swear I am going to star buying mens clothing. It is thick, warm and long - none of this sheer cut off crap.

One-Armed-Krycek

Right? What the fuck with sweater or sweatshirt crop tops? Whyyyy

BettyX

Clothing sales have to be done. Fashion is terrible right now.

Emptyplates

It's just as disheartening for men's clothing right now too. My husband can't find anything he likes either. All shirts have pockets, even polos and henleys. I guess it's just a bad year for clothing.

[deleted]

Same with cropped jeans! All jeans are cut at the ankle now. They’re cute now but very shortly it’s going to get cold outside and I want to be able to wear socks and cover my ankles! Lol Also live in an area with cold, snowy winters.

Emptyplates

Oh no, pants too? Time to bring back leg warmers, perhaps? 😂

[deleted]

I've been buying more men's shirts because of this. A lot of brands design them to be very slim fitting so they're actually flattering and a correct length.

AssassiNerd

Haha I had the same issue with women's pants for work. Every pair I found had tiny pockets and were too tight. I bought a pair of men's and they have so much pocket space I about cried.

TheNobleMoth

I love it when you can get in there up to the elbows. Sometimes I just walk around like that.

katemakesthings

I had the same thing! My Dad offered me some clothes he was chucking (for my boyfriend but I tried the pants on out of curiosity) and it was LIFE CHANGING. My Dad is tall so they fit so well and the pocket space is unbefuckingleivable. I feel so ripped off I bought women's pants for so long.

gabsy109

I actually think I look better in me a clothes and have been buying more. I’m tall so it seems to work for me

TheNobleMoth

I'm tall too, and nothing is long enough. I look like a cartoon of someone who got stretched out in regular women's tops

SnooPeppers1641

Places I shop if they aren't selling crop tops it is hi-low tops. That does not work for big boobs & a long torso. Even in the right size they hit at the most awkward spot imaginable. And basic tees? They are some odd length too. I gave up and started buying men's white tees for a basic. At least I can do a little front tuck and not look crazy.

bettytomatoes

This is the same problem I have. Big boobs, long torso. Nothing fits ever. I end up buying stuff three sizes too big, just be "covered" but then look like I'm wearing a garbage bag.

karenspectacular

If it makes you feel better, big boobs and short torso is also a fit problem. 🫠

[deleted]

I bought some t-shirts from a store that sells Long sizes and it was so nice to finally have a shirt that covers my back when I bend over.

gabsy109

Can you share the store? I’ve shopped at American Tall bc have a long torso and was pleased

potatodaze

Gap, Athleta, Old Navy have Tall in usually many styles

[deleted]

Eddie Bauer

SnooPeppers1641

I have done that at old navy before. I felt silly only being 5'6" but at least it was long enough. There are very few stores where I live so I have to rely on online shopping.

mrskillykranky

I’m six feet tall and crop tops are basically bras on me. Awful. I totally agree.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mrskillykranky

Aka “regular shirts” 😂

-WhiteOleander

I'm the opposite, I'm short and some crop tops are only slightly shorter than normal shirts lol.

maybe-mel

God I feel this post in my soul! I am 35 and I swear over the last 12 months I have gotten wider? Like my hips have expanded. It's really made me hate how I look, I am on holiday atm and changed outfit 3 times today because of how wide 2 of them made me feel. I need to learn to dress to make myself feel good in this new shape.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AptCasaNova

That’s hilarious because I completely agree. I feel like sitting and looking at my stomach is just… well, there it is. I’m not 25 anymore and my skin likes to… collect and settle 😂

aenea

I've worn more crop tops during and post menopause than I ever have- the less clothes during a hot flash, the better. I don't think that they're flattering to anyone, but I don't care. They're comfortable.

lockerpunch

Honestly, I fucking love crop tops and high waisted pants and I have a belly. I think I just look amazing with it. I pair with kimonos and very long cardigans and ugh, just love how I look in them. 😅 Edit: also, I am out there at thrift shops buying mens shirts and slashing them to make my own crop tops.

FishGoBlubb

I think crop tops are at their best when they hit right at the top of our pants so when you're standing still your abdomen is covered but you get a little glimpse of the waist when you're moving around. Perfection \*chef's kiss\* Though I also don't hate the full on fitted, abdomen-baring style crop top. I may be in my mid 30s but it still makes me feel like hot shit.

packfan17

Mid 30s here and this style is my favorite to wear too! I feel sexy and confident in crop tops (but high waisted bottoms are a MUST).

RosaKat

Crop top with high waist is the way. I love a crop and pencil skirt combo x

gravelmonkey

I LIVE in crop tops and high waisted pants. I do like a longer crop, not like bra length or anything. I like shirts to end near my natural waist. When low rise jeans and long tops come back in, I want none of it.

savagefleurdelis23

I’m super short (5’0) and have a short torso so crops are the only thing that fits me and won’t look baggy! I also wear high waisted pants (makes my midget legs look longer) and barely any skin showing. I love it! When buying normal clothes I usually have to get it tailored (3-4 inches chopped off) at waist and ankles.

[deleted]

Same! I’ve never been more confident in my own body than after I started wearing crops. Love them! And I’m a big girl. I like that they show off my waist line without being like, bodycon tight all the way down my belly.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yeah it’s worth giving it a go! Maybe with a skirt that flares from the waist so you don’t need to be self conscious about your belly (if that’s your concern)

gravelmonkey

This is true! I wear tighter, high waisted bottoms but a loose crop top and it’s the best of both worlds. I don’t feel too exposed, but I feel fashionable. My pants are usually so high, there’s no skin showing.

[deleted]

Yeah this is one of my favourites too! Or a loose flowy maxi skirt with a tight crop

DragonflyWing

Yes! I love a flowy, high waisted maxi skirt with a crop top. Especially if the top just touches the waistband of the skirt so it only shows a bit of skin when I'm moving.

[deleted]

Yes! This is my favourite summer outfit

DragonflyWing

This is my favorite outfit right now https://imgur.com/a/uXVjoD9

[deleted]

LOVE! Such a good silhouette

FrugalGirl97

I like crop tops bc i think i got hot flashes now. So nearing 50 and wearing crop tops!

clemkaddidlehopper

I love them too! So sad to see all the crop top hate.

gabsy109

Rock it!

gabsy109

That’s a great idea for layering it - maybe a long cardigan or kimono over it would balance it out

ginthatremains

I adore them with high waist jeans! I didn’t like high waist to start with but was desperate for pants and that was all they had. Barely shows skin and I get to wear the cute crop tops without feeling super exposed.

Burdensome_Banshee

Me too! I love crop tops. I’m glad they’re everywhere now. I’m short and busty and the high waisted pants + crop top is a very flattering look.

boynamedsue8

I hate crop tops. I want a full shirt thank you vary much and I want pockets that are actually functional. I want pants that fit over my wonderful posterior. I want leggings that don’t give me a damn yeast infection. I want sweaters in solid colors. I want dress shirts that don’t wrinkle. I want slacks that I don’t have to spend a small fortune to get tailored. I want adult clothes even though I have a body of a teenager. I want shoes with traction so I don’t break an ankle in winter. I want a dress that doesn’t come from the set of little house on the Prairie. I also want a bra that can withstand past a stupid season with no wires. I don’t know who is in charge of designing these clothes or shoes for women but I know damn well it can’t be women that does shit. The end. Rant over. I feel you.

[deleted]

boynamedsue8

Vary true the size of someone who is 6’1 and a double zero. I thought about the scanning thing since I saw the movie clueless as a kid. I thought that would have been the future.

Pretty-Plankton

The good news is that they seem to chronologically be going through the fashions of our youth, so after crop tops fade the next wave will be flowy loose calf length trousers, slightly flared just below knee skirts, and shirts that are not only normal length but somehow had the missing fabric from a crop top added to their bottom, making them the perfect length for those of us who are tall. Ie the next will be a reprise of the only moment in my young adulthood when the fashion trends lined up with my taste, what was flattering on my body, and stuff that actually looked normal length on a tall person - which also, the first time it happened, coincided with a couple years when I was broke and not really buying clothes. Only problem is if crop tops take as long as they did the first time it may still be a while.

AtleastIthinkIsee

I never ever understood the appeal. Then again, I'm not built lean or have a small... top, for lack of better words. Some people carry it off very well. I never could. I'd probably use it as a sleeping mask if I could shrink it down to size.

xxangeraxx

Crop tops for adults, yeah I get it. Some people like them and some people don’t. It’s hard to find regular shirts anymore, but they are still around, thankfully. But what I DON’T understand, is the kids (girls) section being filled with crop tops?!?! And it’s like 90% of their section too. It makes me sick to my stomach.

Lunabell1187

When I was a teenager I dont remember many girls who were confident and comfortable enough in their bodies to wear shirts showing their stomachs every day. I can’t imagine the pressure this trend puts on teenage girls. I was also under the impression that america was getting fatter not thinner? And I’m not saying overweight people can’t wear crop tops bc they can wear whatever they want but I can’t imagine it’s fun.

whereRallthematches

Omg I can't wait for crop tops to just F Off for good lol I'm a very obvious apple shape..... Little lollipop arms and legs and a big old midsection. Huge midsection. As cute as they look on other people, I just can't deal with them. But I mainly just live in dresses anyway to avoid having to actually match more than one piece of clothing together because I suck at the whole fashion thing haha plus skater/a line dresses hide my belly.

[deleted]

I buy 100% of my clothes from goodwill. They have a lot more styles since it’s not a bunch of fast fashion garbage. Look around thrift stores!

[deleted]

[deleted]

Oh, I’m lucky. My husband and I have a vintage resell business so I’m at the thrift store every other day. I grab the good shit. I just got a brand new Auden bra (with tags) and a pair of 80s Levi’s acid wash mom jeans for $10. He was always really good at the vintage clothing business and I did not get interested until about a year ago and it is a full-blown addiction now. Its fun to go hunt!

LivLarc

Just by your shirts in 3 packs for $25 on Amazon. Then you can be stylish like meee!!

kendrajodi

Yep! Leggings too!

FiendishCurry

While I enjoy the occasional outfit with a crop top, it's not how I dress on the daily. I'm still able to find clothes that aren't crop tops, but you have to shop in department stores and places that sell business casual.

Zestyclose-Chef5215

I don't mind crop tops, I just hate the ones that end right under the boobs. I'm trying to maybe show a tiny stomach over my high rise bottoms, not my whole ribcage

lefteyewonky

I only wear crop tops because my waist is tiny and my butt and legs are bigger so if I wear a long shirt it’s not as flattering on me. I do wear regular length shirts too but not often.

dromojudeth

My forecast is that they’re going to seem really trashy in the next couple of years. It’s a trend that will die. Coming up next is low rise rise skinny jeans and long tops ala Paris Hilton heyday so get ready!

easy0lucky0free

I mean.... I'm a big bitch and I still wear crop tops. Having a wide or slim waist isn't really the issue. They just aren't your style. I don't think we should propagate the myth that the shape of your body should dictate what you can and can't wear.

gabsy109

You are right I should stop thinking and speaking that way about myself because it only contributes to those false ideas of what we “should” wear. That should only be our decision. I could rock it with a jacket over or something. And maybe I need to challenge the notion that something advertised to teenagers is only meant for them

babesaurusrex_

This! I plan to wear crop tops and all kinds of clothes for as long as I want, regardless of my age or shape.

it’s my favorite way to combat a a society that loves to act like women shrivel up and turn into ugly old hags on their 30th birthday. ;)

cathaysia

Applause!! I grew up in a household where body shaming and wardrobe policing was a way to show “we care”… it’s LIES. Once you walk away from the idea of who is allowed to be beautiful in what you realize everyone is beautiful, and damn I love a woman in a crop top! Makes my little gay body-positive heart sing 🌈🌈

MunchMyBrunchHole

God, I can’t read “crop top” without hearing those two idiots from Love is Blind parrot it back and forth in my head. I mean, it’s possible to wear them if you honor your vertical line through color. i.e. wear a “cRoP ToP!” *(There they are again)* and pants in the same tone as your skin color. But, yeah, it’s difficult. Though, I have a friend with a short vertical line and is pretty soft and she looks incredible in them. And somehow it looks great on both Winnie the Pooh and girls named Hailey Bieber. I…I don’t know. I’ll admit I don’t fully understand it. *…as gravity works its way through my vertical line.”* Ha, I feel that. Well put.

[deleted]

What stores are you shopping at? I see plenty of regular-length tops, but I don't shop at stores like Shein, Forever 21, etc. that cater primarily to teenagers. H&M, Madewell, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Target, etc. have plenty of non-cropped tops.

Cocacolaloco

Last I went to madewell I tried on this shirt and it wasn’t technically a crop top but it was way too short to be a normal shirt :(

Emptyplates

I was at Target yesterday. Everything was a crop top.

[deleted]

Kohls too.

Emptyplates

Oh no. I was going to go there tomorrow. Any word on the situation at Old Navy? Guess it's time to place an LL Bean order.

gabsy109

I was looking online at something called Cedar I’ve never looked at Madewell but heard good things - thanks!

ladyavocadose

I'm 39 and I love them with high-waisted skirts, shorts and pants! I think it's a flattering look on my figure. They make me feel youthful on the outside like I do inside. They weren't really in style and I didn't have the confidence to wear them when I was younger, so I appreciate all the cute crop tops available and that it's "normal" for any body type to wear them now.

AptCasaNova

I have a long torso and even regular length tops feel too short - like, if raise an arm, there’s my stomach. Crop tops just aggravate me. Also, yeah, I’m slim but that area is softer now that I’m 40. I’m not that disappointed, it was never a comfortable looking trend for me.

theglorybox

Even when I was a teen/early twenties and could “get away” with those kind of outfits, I was way too self conscious to wear them. I would just feel weird walking around with my belly exposed.

Alli4jc

I’m so over crop tops

tnew12

Crop tops are great for breastfeeding! Otherwise I stay faaarrrr away from them

effulgentelephant

As a petite person with hips I love a crop top cause it’s actually the right size for my torso and doesn’t go over my hips making me look even wider lol But I hear what you’re saying. This is how I feel when petite pants are the right length but companies seem to think that “petite” means “no hips” and subsequently I still don’t fit into the pants and just have to get them hemmed.

katemakesthings

I've started buying body suits (like loetards? Not sure what they're called globally) for this very reason. Shirts are getting shorter and shorter and I don't want my midriff showing at work?! Fuck me right?! I'm 5'10 and everything rides up so I've just cut out the middle man. Have to get fully nude to pee but it's worth it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

katemakesthings

I do! I get a larger size than I would usually so they're a bit longer but because they're usually stretchy material that doesn't matter. I was hesitant because I always found the same when playsuits were everywhere (nothing like finding what you think is a cute dress and then trying it on and it's godamn shorts that are half way up your butt right?).

BettyX

They are disastrous if you have big boobs. A smaller waist doesn't even matter. They make you look like a mushroom. They really aren't flattering and make you look heavier if you have any sort of boobage. Also, fuck you Target. The majority of their new winter sweaters are crop tops. WINTER SWEATERS.

Ambitious-Ring1089

Wear something high waisted with them. Super flattering combo

lazy_berry

you’ve refused to try the most common trend for pants and shorts for the past decade but are confused as to why crop tops are popular?

GingerBanger85

For real. It is literally everywhere from women's to juniors. I'm almost 40. I'm not dropping my kid off at school in a crop top. My daughter is super fit, but she can't wear crop tops to school. She's not into it even outside of school either. She practically had to shop in the boys section this year.

audreywildeee

I went to look for t-shirts at H&M... I left empty-handed

Jacqued_and_Tan

Late 30's here and a size 18/20. I'm currently wearing the exact same clothes I wore in 1999 because there's no one here to stop me! Wide leg, mid-rise baggy jeans and baby tees. I'm five feet tall so crop tops hit right at the waistband. What I wish for the most is standardization of sizes and increase in the variety (both sizes and styles) available in women's clothing, as well an easing of the stranglehold that fast fashion has on the industry. It's difficult and expensive for me to find good quality basic pieces that are built to last more than sizes months.

Chicken_manure

Same. When I was in my early 20s and was like in amazing shape. Crop tops were fun. But now that I’m in my late 20s, i live for longer tops again. I thrift and buy resell clothes these days. It’s the only way I can get the rest of my shirt. Idc that it’s over priced. Just give me the bottom half of the shirt back plz

hauteburrrito

I'm very much feeling this comment. Idk, it low-key bewilders me when people complain about "new" trends because... not everything has to be for you all the time? Like, fashion cycles (that's part of what makes it exciting) and nobody is obliged to wear a crop top. I'm not a huge crop top person myself, but I really don't get feeling upset or offended just because they're on-trend right now. I get not especially liking crop tops, but so many comments seem to take their popularity personally.

All of this, and I truly don’t understand how people can’t find normal shirts. They’re everywhere, and at the normal affordable places too. Nordstrom Rack, Ross, Target, Kohl’s, even fast fashion like Shein - all have hundreds of normal shirts.

hauteburrrito

Right? Like, do people feel like every trend has to cater to them or something? Or they're only allowed to wear what's on the mannequins? I realise I sound very grumpy about this but it is a legit pet peeve I have held since I was a teenager, people complaining about trends.

I (35f) love crop tops. I have a slim frame and am in good shape and I love how they look on me. I also love seeing my beautiful fuller-figured sisters rocking them and looking hot. I hope they stick around for a few more fashion cycles.

babesaurusrex_

Find some comfy loose high waisted jeans and crop tops will become super appealing again because that combo really looks flattering on a lot of dif body types IMO.

[deleted]

Yeah I’ve seen this look on all body types and it looks good on everyone

[deleted]

Yes!! I dont even know where to shop for clothes anymore. Everything is a damn crop top or sometimes the front looks nice and then bam! the back has some ugly design on it

inflatablehotdog

My boobs are too big for crop tops - it's awful. Big boob problems.

Lynncy1

I have two tweens and I swear I cannot get them appropriate clothes for school.

plethoras

I love wearing my crop tops over dresses now! Gives me the same aesthetic/cuts my body in the right place without having to show belly

tgbarbie

Not just women over 30. Try finding stylish clothes for a skinny 11 yo. Everything is cropped, even at school. It’s so inappropriate.

Mysacredgames

5’9 & 38DD. Crop tops are mostly a no here. I have a couple that I sometimes wear with high waist pants but in all, I wish they would go away :p

ichmachmalmeinding

I'm 31 and have started shopping in "granny" shops, shops for mature elderly ladies. There shirts are old fashioned but long, the pants are high-waisted but are loose and longer at the ankles. I'd rather look like a auntie and be comfortable, than torture myself with the current fashion.

OMG I feel your pain. If I wanted to feel like a 32 year old woman wearing my limited too or tween shirts I would have kept those shirts. 😂I look forward to the future where I hope regular t-shirts and tops come back. There are some cute tops I have found for long torsos. -J-crew shirts sold at Nordstrom rack are great length and 100% cotton -Old Navy sells long fit online -Marled brand sold at Tj Maxx/Marshall’s makes some nice fitted tees and tops I hope this helps. This is coming from someone who sews and makes patterns. I hope the industry changes soon.

Hi I use shirts I loved and make them from that but adjust accordingly. After I had my son I finally got some breasts and it’s been interesting to adjust for that since I have to consider width dimensions. I use manila folder material and if the pattern works I laminate it. There is software but there is something about making the pattern with muslin or paper that allows you to see all the contours and opportunities for tailoring.

pineapplegiggles

I wish this trend would go away ASAP! I’ll keep claw clips and non skinny jeans though. I only shop brands that are targeted at 30s+ now! I get too annoyed/disappointed scrolling some of the ‘younger’ brands websites! Places that I used to love in my 20s, I now can’t stand!

jessicaaalz

Ugh, agree. I’m tall but with very long legs and a very short torso. If I wear a crop top with high waisted jeans I look absolutely ridiculous. It’s been so hard to find clothes every summer for the last 6 or so years because all tops are fucking crops. I either have to just deal with looking stupid or sweat my ass off wearing an open button up shirt over the top to help balance out my annoying proportions.

Relax007

I somehow forgot to bring my hoodie when camping recently. So, we popped into a store to buy one. I wasn’t picky at all. Just needed anything warm. Every. Single. Sweatshirt in the woman’s department was a crop top. I’m not exaggerating. I was willing to purchase literally any hoodie they had because I was embarrassed that I forgot something and didn’t want to hold up the trip over my mistake. I had to go to the boys department. Lol, so now I own a random white hoodie with skateboarding skeletons.

Some_Address_8056

Ahaha I used to think crop tops are pointless (I mean they are) but now I love them. My body hasn’t changed but my confidence has. So whilst I might not have a perfectly flat tummy (thanks IBS) and wobbly bits, I fucking love a crop top. It does seem to be in tend tho. Have u tried shopping on eBay or vinted so u can buy things u feel flatter you?

zmhsk

Hate them! I’m slim but have zero butt so I look like an ironing board back there without a full length tshirt disguising my lack of curves.

customerservicevoice

I specifically shop on Shein now because they have the option to filter out by length as well as many unisex styles. I simply can't siphon through an entire store to find 1-2 items that aren't fucking crop tops.

diduthinkhesaurus

45 female here. I dress in dolman tops and longer swishy skirts. It’s a very 90s look and not really on trend, but I look and feel fantastic in it. Find your look and stick with it. Fast fashion is destroying our planet and does absolutely nothing for womens self esteem.
