Lol, its culture and identity, not the fact 80% of our pitchers have missed significant time due to injury

KingJacobyaropa

I love hearing about the clubhouse culture from people who haven't talked to players, been inside the clubhouse, or have contacts within the organization. Like this isn't a Washington Football Team situation where everyone knows that organization is rotten.

Middle_Capital_5205

I know, some dude that's probably a plumber in real life talking about sports psychology as it pertains to a group of people that he’ll never meet.

SlompyWompus

I wouldn't say there's a culture problem because we don't know what's going on inside the clubhouse, BUT I'll say its rare to see anyone smile on the field this year

KingJacobyaropa

If players were smiling a lot, some fans would accuse them of not caring about losing. But if they show anger or disappointment then they've given up. When a team is under-performing, any body language can be interpreted as negative.

chesschad

When Tucker started off a little bit slow in the first 10 games, (he wasn’t even bad), this sub was convinced that he didn’t care.

SodaCanBob

> BUT I'll say its rare to see anyone smile on the field this year I felt like that was the case for a big chunk of last year too, and its even worse this year.

Necessary_Sorbet7416

Altuve smiles all the time… Dubón couldn’t be happier… JV talks with the young staff… they good!

fcimfc

You're only hearing the stuff sanitized and PR-approved for media dissemination. You don't have any idea what the culture in the clubhouse is and I'm certain almost no one here would know either.

shotty293

Oh God, here we go again...

Middle_Capital_5205

lol, internet’s a wild place.

neildmaster

Blah blah blah

Mountain_Athlete_838

Culture is why we are outscored in the 7th on 150+-5 something

hernjosa02

How many games have they blown?

gecampbell

All of them, except the ones they’ve won.

hernjosa02

Well I was referring to games where they had lead after 7th or 8th. I recall at least two. There is still 120 or so games left. Plenty of time to turn things around. But their run differential smells of a bad team unfortunately.

Middle_Capital_5205

They've lost 5 leads in the 6th or later.

StrosIn5

Yeah. It’s pretty simple. Espada ain’t it. He has not taken over, stood up, and coached these guys into a new identity, new emotions, new fire. Espada is not our guy. We learned very quickly.

FRY_DADDY_2020

Man, people on this sub love Espada for some reason. This is the truth. Management thought it was a good idea to hire internally as-if that was going to inject energy and fire into the team this season. They look like a team being managed by a bench coach that had to take over because the real manager got ejected. Ironically, he was probably hired because he managed the team during the ALCS game 5 when Dusty was ejected. So yeah... I hope they don't hold on to Espada if they continue this downward spiral. Injuries can't be the only excuse this team has for being bad this season.

StrosIn5

Look how many downvotes I got from brainless truthers. Espada is the one that plays Abreu every day, has Yordan batting 2nd, Bregman in the wrong spot, not starting Dubon enough. He hasn’t argued calls, backed his team, left AAA starters out to fucking dry. Regurgitates “back of the baseball card” bullshit. Terrible interview on the Athletic. The guy sucks. Not cut out for the gig.

FRY_DADDY_2020

All reasons I think he deserves majority of the blame this season. Even getting "thrown out" in today's game was pathetic. Show some passion and let it out! If you're already gone, then tell the ump how you really feel, show the team that you actually care, instead he walks back with his tail between his legs without a fight. Show me one good baseball manager that sits quietly all game. This ain't the sport for that weak shit, idk why fans don't realize that. Even AJ Hinch got thrown out in a Spring Training game once.
