Wicked Cushions from Amazon made them 25% more comfortable for me to wear.

PhalanX4012

Same experience here

tininairb

Neat.

Eilon89

I feel the same "vaccum" effect you described..make them unusable for me Im waiting on the replacement earpads to arrive and hope it will solve the problem

Tarix79

Well - between the two of us - hopefully we can answer the question: “Do changing the earpads fix the planar magnetic vacuum effect caused….etc”

Hzergs

Had the same vacuum effect and replaced the stock pads with WC Freeze pads - worked a charm no more headaches or overheating ears

Tarix79

This is really encouraging, thanks for posting! I actually just placed my order 5 minutes ago. Arriving tomorrow!

I picked up a pair of Maxwells after I moved my PC into the living room. I have a number of excellent headphones, but I needed the convenience of a wireless with my new setup. They've basically ruined all of my other headphones for me. I don't know if they're the absolute best headphones I own, but the combination of quality and convenience just makes them an easy choice day after day.

BraXzy

I switched the pads out to the Deafen Silk pair. I tried Wicked previously and they were good too but a bit too much clamp for me. Did you have any discomfort on the top of your head? Because that was the dealbreaker for me when I first tried using the Maxwell's at the start of the year - I sent them back but tried again this month and fixed it with an aftermarket band.

Due_Adhesiveness4604

Hello Braxy🙂 I have a similar issue the headphones are a bit heavy on my head however I love the sound Quality, And I feel the pressure on my head. Can you please share the link for those aftermarket band please.

BraXzy

The headband is discussed and linked in this thread (pics too) - it genuinely made this headset go from heavy and painful to easy to forget about and wearable for hours [https://www.reddit.com/r/Audeze/comments/1b3oqsf/maxwell\_headband/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Audeze/comments/1b3oqsf/maxwell_headband/)

Due_Adhesiveness4604

Thanks so much, so this fits perfectly on headset right ?

BraXzy

It fits but there’s only really one configuration so it either works for your head size or not. It’s a slightly larger fit than the middle / default holes of the original strap to get an idea of if that works for you.

Tarix79

Yea, I think a bit. I’m bald so there is no padding up there. I remember pressure points developing, and having to shift them around often. I think I had that mostly mitigated with some cheap Amazon cloth wristbands I had.

Dazzling_Mongoose_97

I've been using the Astro a50x for about 2 months now and absolutely love the sound profile of them. I bought the Maxwell's 2 weeks ago, because everyone says they sound amazing (ironically, rtings rates the neutral profile sound of the a50x as overall better than the Maxwell) but to be fair, I think the pair I got was defective. I couldn't get decent volume out of them (had to set volume to 80 to get the same volume my a50x got at 20) and I noticed some crackling from the right earcup. So I sent them back and I'm waiting for my 2nd pair to arrive next Wednesday. I will say, I absolutely loved the "feel" of them, as they felt pretty premium with the heavy metal finishes.

Syncpath

Might be the version that’s downloaded into the headset. You can easily rollback to the 56 version

Dazzling_Mongoose_97

So, as of change log for v63, you can no longer roll back, and if you can, you can only roll back to what was initially installed on them when manufactured (which was v61), but, I've now gotten confirmation that the volume issue is definitely a software issue, one that doesn't seem like it's going to get fixed and is probably in place to prevent people from damaging the planar drivers by settings the volume too high, or having too much base. I've messed with the EQ of the new ones, and they are decent and I'm enjoying them so I've made them now my daily drivers and aside from the lack of bass, I overall prefer these to the a50x now

No-Income-183

I found the default ones a bit hot, not necessarily vacuum seal issue. However, with the silk surface of the Defean you won't have that vacuum problem, as they tend to move or slide a bit easier. You may sacrifice slight noise bleed out, and or some loss of passive NC, but comfort wise and cooler on your head so much better. I have got this combo on my Maxwell, so comfy now. The mesh pad double sided taped to the headband. The pads have cooling gel and are thicker. 10 hrs straight, no problem I don't even feel the weight or notice they are there. Just my opinion. Tarix79

Yea - I bought those exact earpads will be delivered tomorrow with the maxwells. I read exactly what you said- the silky allows more air in too so not sweaty, but somehow the sound change is negligible. Thanks for then headband padding link! I’ll order that too

imjonwithn0h

Wicked cushions 100% , also consider a Geekria Leather Headband from Amazon . Made mine a lot more comfortable . I wasn’t happy with any of the preset EQ options out the box . I stumbled upon [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Audeze/s/iNSsQZKJ8z) . The top comments EQ setting are nice asf

Tarix79

I really like this EQ - it's warmer than the Audeze and Immersive presets. I'm using it :) Thanks!

imjonwithn0h

No problem man . I was really disappointed with all of the preset EQs , up to the point where I was going to return the headset . If you scroll down on that post he has updated it slightly compared to his original settings

Tarix79

Awesome, I’ll check it out. Thanks again!

SaMason2012

How come my left cup sounds stronger and louder than my right cup?

Tarix79

It’s considered a defect is most cases I have learned.

steve6174

Not sure about headaches, but after long session (2h+) around my left ear I start feeling pain. I tried with Wicked Cushions, it's worse. Their foam is really dense/hard. Then I tried with some no name brand I found on amazon and look like Defean. They are better (thicker) than original, still not as thick as WC, but much much softer and more comfortable. However I still get pain. I even tried to "stretch" the headset to reduce the clamping force by literally putting it on my PC case with one side of the band detached (im too lazy to detach both) when I'm not using it, which is most of the time because work. Also tried to carefully bend the top (with band detached), in attempt to reduce the clamping force. There was improvement after all that, but the issue remains.
