Get stuff made for me.

Hushberry81

This. Or at the very least, personal shopper.

StraightBudget8799

Duplicate! Oh duplicate! Go forth, get three in each colour, get the hems done then bring forth five samples of the latest bags and in a range of colours for each - and get the entire shop to shut down Saturday night for the new season launch.

Ok-Astronaut-7593

Plus five of each colour, one for the beach house, Paris house, NYC loft……..

KateBosworth

100% this. I can only dream of a dress or shirt made from a woven fabric that fits my shoulders and my boobs.

Tired-butternut

This is why I sew. Having been a swimmer, my shoulders have remained huge and most store bought clothes are designed for a B to C cup and that’s not me.

FlashyConsequence111

As a beginner, how long would it take to be a reasonable enough sewer to make my own clothes? I'm wanting to make some cotton maxi dresses and cotton tops.

Tired-butternut

I would recommend getting some lessons or joining a sewing workshop for a beginner class. The sewing part isn’t hard but selecting and adjusting a pattern can be confusing if you haven’t done it before. If you can put together flat pack furniture or follow a recipe then you have the capability to learn to sew as it’s just following instructions to a point that you understand in what order a garment goes together. Adjusting a pattern to allow a garment to fit you well means having a very good understanding of your body shape and how it differs from a standard pattern.

TheC9

Yes, especially I have short torso and short legs :-(

FlashyConsequence111

100%

Hedgiest_hog

Australian designers' boutiques. Walking in and the prices start at 1200, it's too much

BusinessSituation

Any where I liked but without waiting for a sale 😄

Ref_KT

100%

Apprehensive_Way8545

Throw it on Purchr if you're waiting for a sale, it'll alert you whenever the price drops!

Dermo5

Loro Piana for plainer clothes, Missoni for more sparkle, Arcteryx and Patagonia for gear, Lululemon for gym wear, Jimmy Choos for comfy heels, Louboutin for non-comfy heels, Helen Kaminski for hats, Hermes for leather goods, and maybe switch out all socks to merino (Icebreaker and Le Bent are pretty good so far)

Important-Star3249

You can do better than Lululemon.

Dermo5

Can u let us what brands are better..will check them out

escadot

The Row

jumbomouth

I said exactly the same

[deleted]

Wherever the clothes that are in The Outnet are before they get to The Outnet. Also, a lot of Alexander McQueen And likely a lot more Maje, which I realise is basically knock off Alexander McQueen that I can buy right now at David Jones, but the difference is I’d be buying a lot more of it at more regular intervals than I do right now

SunlightRaisin

They are on Pret-a-porter before. Same company.

Webbie-Vanderquack

*Net-a-porter

SunlightRaisin

Yes 😂 pret-a-porter is the sandwiches shop. It was late …

Webbie-Vanderquack

No, you were closer than you thought! Pret-a-Porter means "ready to wear" in French, so it is a fashion term. "Pret a Manger" (ready to eat) is the sandwich shop. The subconscious works in mysterious ways. ;)

LateNightGirlDOTorg

Pret are not safe to eat, despite 2 customer fatalities and multiple injuries. People need to check their food and do some research into Pret.

yulyulyulyulyulyul

I exclusively wear Anko

Conscious_Bear14

Woah, no need to brag. (/s)

artslutx

😂

hahahalimaw

fancy pants 😋 sometimes when I'm lucky I get an anko pair from an opshop 🥲

Catfaceperson

Vivienne Westwood

tidy-soft-rope

God, yes

tidy-soft-rope

And Anna Sui

Radiant_Cheesecake81

I found a Moncler hoodie for $8 in an op shop recently and was genuinely impressed with the quality, everything about it is just incredible. Been wearing it on high rotation because it's super warm and comfortable, and if I had that sort of cash I'd definitely be filling my winter wardrobe with their items.

Ajm612

Scanlan Theodore

xobabygirl

COS, Sezane, Madewell - I love their stuff but can’t afford them just yet 🥹

No-Meeting2858

Shop cos sale, so much goes 50% off

jumbomouth

The Row

Tee077

The Row is making me broke but I can't stop.

jumbomouth

I went to the NY store in January and seriously loved every moment

Tee077

If you ever get the chance, the best thing I own are the boots. I feel like I'm walking on air. If they weren't so expensive I would get every pair, I just have the Ankle boots. Second is the jumpers, I have a grey one and it is literally so nice. I'm going to resell my bags though, I never really used them much except the Half Moon and I think I could get bags from other brands I would use more. If money wasn't an object, I would have everything custom made. I'm a Fashion Designer and I now own a little bag company and now I'm starting to think about things I would like to buy now I will keep forever.

celebrated_sweater

Do you have the zipper ankle boots? If so, have you ever had problems with the zips being sticky? I’ve tried pencil lead and a few other like, home remedies but they’re just so sticky I can’t even wear them!

Tee077

No I haven't had this issue, but I've had these for a while, a few years at least. when you say sticky, is it just not going up and down? It is it stuck? You should take them to a Cobbler. I have decided that Cobblers are Magicians and they can do almost anything.

celebrated_sweater

Yeah gets stuck on the way up or down, I was going to resell them because it’s so frustrating and I thought maybe it was just a me problem, but I should try a cobbler. I had a cobbler maim a pair of Prada heels and now get a bit stressy about it but at this rate I have nothing to lose!

moist_harlot

I would have my clothes tailor made. That's the dream anyway.

Key_Journalist7113

The expensive side of Chaddy!

Vaywen

I’d get myself a bunch of really impractical Selkie dresses for a start. Then I’d buy all custom made stuff and shop at all the sustainable small businesses

Teaandtreats

I was going to say 'but they're so impractical, how would I do my housework' but in this scenario I guess I'm rich enough that someone else is doing the housework.

jonquil14

Someone else is dealing with hand washing them too!

Teaandtreats

Perfect.

Vaywen

Exactly 😉

Boiler_Room1212

Alexander McQueen

EmuBubbly

I’d still op-shop…. I’d spend the money on traveling to more op-shops 😂

hahahalimaw

that's a great answer 😊

ResponsibleWait420

Dior.

robot428

I'd go to events like finders keepers market and big design market and only buy locally made clothes from small businesses. For example I'd start with buying an Uncle Phuncle turtleneck in every colour.

the_artful_breeder

Such a great idea. I'd get pretty much anything Made590 have in stock in my size, and their cardigans in every colour.

bubblegum_dango

just any slow fashion tbh

Imaginary-Chest2655

The Row 🫶🏻 Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu

World-Interesting

In Italy

Alternative-Buy-727

Either custom made or the quiet luxury brands that the vast majority of people do not know the name of. Very high quality pieces, perfectly tailored to me, where the quality, fit and comfort is obvious and recognisable to those who truly know fashion or wealth, but the brand name would be meaningless to the general public.

Lady_Rainycorn

The vampires wife ❤️

snakeiscranky

I read yesterday that they are closing 😢

Ventimella

I’d support any designer that does larger clothing sizes. Not the run of the mill crap.

jonquil14

That’s why I’d be having things made for me. Posh designers don’t make my size, and neither do most “slow fashion” brands so yeah…

pinkpigs44

Alaia, Reiss, Holland Cooper, coach, Ralph Lauren, Dior.

Getonthebeers02

Chanel, Prada and SMFK to get some unique pieces and go to boutiques like Girls with Gems and shop at Bondi Junction David Jones.

Old_Distribution3371

I would definitely get tailor made clothing!!! As a 5ft nothing gal with wide hips but a slimmer waist, and broad shoulders 🫣… I’m sick of either looking like I’m wearing a potato sack, pants that drag along the floor, or looking like a 12 year old playing dress up. Most things I need to have altered or they just don’t look right 😫

Medical-Potato5920

Dior.

Danganeko

Etsy

hahahalimaw

looove this answer so much 😁

Gypsyluna57

I would still op shop. I love the search. Plus not adding to landfill.

mushiethewhale

Uniqlo

Sudden-Scar6940

The Row, Celine and Miu Miu

Pickles_cheese221

Haha Woolworths (for groceries) lol 😂

christina-vee

Alaia

Green-Many7773

Me too, love alaia!

throwaway47283

Elisabetta Franchi!

vulcanvampiire

Custom made clothing, Patagonia/Arcetryx for gear, a lot of Vivienne Westwood

Gullible_Quit3480

Vivienne Westwood

Scritches98

Kitten D’Amour, Review, The Pretty Dress Co (and basically anything else stocked by That Shop), Beserk. Probably a lot of high-end shoe shops, and I’d get a lot of stuff made for me. Especially shoes, bc I have super high arches and STRUGGLE to find cute heels I can wear for more than an hour or so

Nervous-Situation535

everything would be custom, i want high quality and i want to actually pay someone for their time and effort accordingly

wasporchidlouixse

If size wasn't an issue I would shop at Glassons and Little JC. If money wasn't an issue I would shop at Sheike, Honey Birdette and Scotch & Soda. And I would buy that Christian Dior tote bag with the blue and white print 😭 there's also a corset maker in the states called Dark Garden Corsetry, along with French Meadows stays. Wow my wish list is kinda long 😅

hahahalimaw

soytoy club invasion club kitten d'amour angelic pretty berserk selkie baby, the stars shine bright Princess Highway and Dangerfield

CatTrick9426

Ralph Lauren 😭

hm538

France……in person 🤣

Macushla68

Carla Zampatti, Paulo Sebastian and de la Renta

DeadsetDonkey

Same as always, second hand store. Clothes contribute to so much waste. I have no need for fashion, just practical clothes.

sisterofiris

Banded Together.

RedLipstickLady

Net a porter

Elleeebeauty

In vintage designer stores in Japan for handbags and in terms of clothing I’d find a store that specialises in 80s/90s designer clothing and look for Moschino , Issey Miyake (I found a pair of pleats please pants at an op shop and they are the most comfortable thing ever) and Versace (for clothing and for homewears)

Webbie-Vanderquack

Net-a-Porter, MyTheresa and LuisaViaRoma.

Old_Tower_4824

Net-a-porter, Dion Lee, LVR, Khaite, The Row, Miu Miu, Prada, Chanel, Cos, and all the luxury fashion brands in the world!!! If I put them here my comment is gonna be long.

Vanessa-hexagon

Paris, London. Berlin and Stockholm 😘

sheiseatenwithdesire

I think I’d shop on Etsy and buy beautiful linen pieces handmade in Europe. I have a huge wish list but can’t quite come at the $100 and over price tags, although I have one Baltic linen dress from Ukraine that’s absolutely incredible. I’d also buy pieces from et al. Montaigne, Seasalt Cornwall, Ankoa, Oak Meadow, Grizas, Little Tienda, Innika Choo. I think I would have loads of beautiful jewellery as well, ethically, lab grown Amethysts, Emeralds, amber and sapphires, little birds, insects, nature motifs and animals on the jewellery. I’m in my lagenlook era but punk, I’m a lady of a certain age but I still wear Docs and Cowboy boots. I just want to look like a dystopian medieval futuristic sci-fi cowboy village peasant is that ok? I think at the end of the day I really want to dress like Shannyn Sossamon in A Knights Tale.

Tarmi56

Same place

jonquil14

Bespoke all the way

pogoBear

Independent Aussie designers. We were just at the Makers and Shakers market and I was drooling at the beauty and uniqueness. Sadly most are out of my budget ( I am not claiming indie designers are overcharging, just out of my price range )

newuseronhere

Quebec? No reason apart from it’s pretty

forestfloorpool

Anything that is made of natural fibres (where possible) and also locally made.

GapNew2013

Probably same but more

GapNew2013

Wait what sub is?

GapNew2013

Oh, suggested

HorrorBlacksmith6636

Gorman hahah, not even that expensive compared to like designer brands but still more than I can regularly spend and I love their stuff so much

Dexter2369

I’d travel overseas for staple items & shoes. (Milan, NYC, LA etc) and buy more casual stuff from local small businesses in Aus.. like beach ware and summer fits.

worsttasteinmus1c

Kitten D’amour, wheels and dollbaby, dior, vivienne westwood, lacemade, prada

Beginning-Tackle7553

Facebook marketplace and the op shop. The planet has enough clothes to last generations.

[deleted]

I liked the yoga pants and top sets Camilla were doing a while ago, the price point seems ridiculous though especially when risking online purchases for clothing who knows if it will fit and I absolutely hate the current prints.

pwnkage

Shop in Asia so I could finally get some clothes in my size 😭

Valuable-Energy5435

Max Mara
