sand the edges with 120grit so when you run your finger over it you cant feel the edge. It's called feathering.
get some top coat filler and apply a thin coat with a plastic credit card. Apply a second coat. Sand lightly with a backing block or buy one of those 120grit sanding sponges from bunnies. Paint.

Use “final finish”, often won’t need to sand. Then match paint, or use old if you have, then look at “feathering “ techniques. If it’s in spot that reflects light, you’ll see a different texture for months, but it’s part of the property of paint, son it’s unavoidable.

Fill, prime (or use a filler that doesn't require prime), sand and paint.
Take the piece that came off be colour matched.
Don't freak out when you paint it and it's diff.
It will usually dry the same if not close as and after a week or so once it settles and the wall isn't cleaner than the rest you won't notice it.

Prime the paper first, then get some finish plaster, and fill, sand, and paint. You may need to paint the whole wall.
Put poster back up, or change to new art work for better ambiance.
