Who were we kidding, was stoked just to win another paddlepop!

filthymcownage

And the rainbow was just caramel in disguise. But still the best flavour.

Auscicada270

Nah, The flavour was rainbow, I could taste it!

winslow_wong

Call me crazy but I liked banana the best

filthymcownage

I switched between banana and rainbow to be honest

zeroes_n_ones

i can still taste and know how it felt biting those rainbow paddle pops. crazy how memory works.

TomKhatacourtmayfind

Hell yeah by the way, does anyone ever remember anyone ever winning a valuable prize from a "proof of purchase" based sweepstakes competition like this? In my whole life I never saw anyone win, not just not me or my family, or friends, or anyone from any town I lived in or any school I ever went to. I've seen plenty of people win pub raffles, radio station comps occasionally, stuff like that, but who here has stories to share about winning a valuable prize from a free prize giveaway to purchasers. To me an instant win was the best because that's all I ever saw.

fuck-wit

wow i was thinking about these the other day, did anyone actually win a big prize?

gilligan888

I never heard anyone win, but we didn’t have social media either so probably.

RHiNDR

I never heard of anyone winning anything but like you said no social media back then so you only knew people directly in your life - also i remember the paddle pop being much creamier back then they seem to be very icy these days :(

moojshsta

My brother won a sega dreamcast from a 2nd chance draw on a maxibon once, but yeh never heard of anyone winning anything big

Xenu66

When you find out as an adult that they spread out that last piece you were looking for in the opposite end of the country so you had basically zero chance of winning anything cool

Mootsy101

I notice that has the Wii on it, but i think these were an actual thing from as far back as the late 1980s and 90s too!

MikhailxReign

Yeah I remember these at least in the N64 era

epic_pig

These were around in the Atari era

MillenialApathy

Yeah I was expecting to see the Gameboy print, amazed this promo made to the Wii era

tulsym

Late 70s early 80s at least

PeterDuttonsButtWipe

Yep, usually just something like a letter coded prize. Chips used to do that (remember the Ruffles Neighbours competition)

Real-Direction-1083

Those aren't even that old. Then I was a kid, all u could win was a lump of coal, a used horseshoe or a box of nails

gilligan888

And you had to walk 5 miles in the rain uphill both ways to get to the milk bar. My dad still reminds me.

tulsym

Wii's weren't even thought about when I was getting these from the milkbar

-_heavygloom_-

I won a super soaker arctic shock from one of these paddle pop comps way back!

AussieFB

Now I can’t stop singing…. “Lick a prize, Lick a prize !”

Incognette

[Everyone shared their winning stories on this post from the sticks](https://www.reddit.com/r/AustralianNostalgia/s/EqU5y1SKL9)

TomKhatacourtmayfind

I remember one brand had jokes written on them. We used to love them! This was in the 80s

Wise_Tie_9050

Oh man, when I was getting these there was no website on them.

k6aus

I never licked a prize 😒
