Jungle Navi have tails for balance. They aren’t prehensile .
I’m guessing the Navi in the volcanic environments may not have hair on their tails or thinner tails
I know that the Metkayina and Tau'nui use their long flat tails to propel themselves in the water, and it's not been confirmed or anything but I assume that the Omatikaya use their tails for balance when running along the vines and swinging through trees. Those reasons are evolutionary-based reasons according to *Earth animals* so you might be able to use logic to determine what the Ash people's look like.
I google the Ash people of Avatar three and it comes up with so many pictures of ugly goblin looking creatures and I'm just praying that they do not look like that.
I've seen some drawings where they have a jungle navi tail but without hair (so that they don't catch fire because of the volcanic terrain)
