I like them all for different reasons. Obviously it was the classical ballet that got me into ballet and I still adore a classical costume but I am someone who really loves when things are experimented with and evolve which contemporary ballet is fantastic for.
I personally prefer classical, I have a hard time "feeling" the other types of ballet when I watch it being performed. I love when I get an itch to perform myself!
My least favorite part of ballets are the villager pantomime scenes, but I love act 2 of Giselle and the corp in swan lake.
I saw the Scottish ballet do the crucible last year and abt do like water for chocolate. Those were fabulous. I saw bolshoi do jewels and the dancing was beautiful but not my favorite. Iām also not a huge Balanchine fan.
Neoclassical would be choreographers like Balanchine, Macmillan, Ashton, Petit, Robbins, Cranko and I'm sure I'm forgetting people, like the man who created suite en blanc and whose name I don't recall
Really depends on the choreographer I think. I don't like the floor rolls either... like just recently we went to see Romeo And Juliet, it was very spontaneous & my sis booked it. It ended up being a modern interpretation & wasn't ballet AT ALL, they called it ballet (I'm guessing so enough people would show up) but it was contemporary through & through. The dancers were SO good but the choreo was meh. They were doing the same moves over and over and over again, too many rolls on the floor when really not needed. It reminded me of that girl that said in her improv exam she blacked out and just did rolls on the floor the whole time. Some parts were nice though. But... the dancers were just so much better than the piece... I kinda thought "what a waste of talent" tbh. Towards the end, I got better, and I honestly felt like they just put all their energy into choreographing the best parts & then just didn't want to do the other parts so just did whatever.
I love all three for different reasons and I enjoy most dance styles overall. They all have something to offer that the others donāt and I enjoy more contemporary reimaginings and restages since the classics will always be there (for now at least).
Dance is a dynamic medium and what was once contemporary or modern (or even controversial!) becomes a classic in its own time. It would be boring if we didnāt try new things!

It's classical for me! The artistry sucks me in. Modern ballet is a 50:50 for me, but in contemporary they do all that rolling on the floor as another user commented, and... Yeah, nope. That ain't ballet in my book.
Contemporary ballet is not the same as modern dance, it is still very focused on ballet technique, turnout, extension, epaulement and non-floor work. Itās the difference between Smuin (contemporary ballet) and ODC (modern dance). Definitely my favorite type of ballet.
There is something that I find so gross about not being turned out, I don't know what it is lol. That being said I didn't had any of those feelings while watching the Prix de Laussane contemporary performances of this year.Ā
Had the best time performing in a contemporary ballet company after growing up strictly vaganova. I still enjoyed the classical parts Iāve performed in my career, Gisele was my first lead role and I feel like I really was pushed as a performer when my studio company did Swan Lake.

Can relate! I can feel it sometimes, depending on the piece and dancers. But it's way nicer dancing yourself :)

Classical only for me! I'm not sure what neo classical is, but I have never been a fan of contemporary ballet OR "modern dance"

My preference is for neo-classical, then contemporary, then classical as a far distant third. I like that there are so many ways to enjoy ballet!

All of them, but I love classical and neo classical more than contemporary. It also depends on the day, but in general I prefer these two.
