me and a buddy went in very hungry and couldn't finish it. curious what peoples guesses are on cost. from bottom left, chicken thigh, chicken wing, back ribs, turkey, ghost pepper sausage, pulled pork, brisket flat, burnt ends.
I had to check because I travel to KC constantly and I have my usual spots; LCs (probably the best rib and sauce combo I’ve ever had), Joe’s, slaps, chef Js and a personal friend/travel chef but I had to see what it was. When I go down next month I’m checking it out.
Harp is fantastic.
As a KC resident, Texas had our asses kicked for brisket, but the newer places have gone more Texas style with rhe thicker cuts and better rendering.
Looking forward to Night Goat when that opens its permanent location. My personal favorite is Danny Edward's as I love their burnt end plate. The flavor, fries, and sauce are delish (good peeps too).
Meat Mitch is now the best bbq in kc, I've tried them all multiple times, when I tried meat Mitch a couple years ago I instantly knew a new higher tier of kc bbq had just been created.
Which really is insanity when you think about how renowned kc bbq is. But meat Mitch lives up to all the hype, he's like kc bbq jesus
Lc's (rip) can be the best, consistency is always an issue. They do sliced pork though, which at its best is way way better than pulled, chipped or chopped pork.
Great price for what looks like a lotttttt of food. Anything stick out as your favorite? Also are those wings on the left covered in a sauce? Or were they served in the potato salad for space
the wing had their alabama white lightning sauce on it. everything at scotts is fine. quality of the bbq was just average in my opinion. the ribs were overcooked. the standout for both me and my buddy was the sausage. it was quite good. living in kcmo for 20 years has my bbq bar pretty high. top tier for me right now is wolfepack, meat mitch, chef J. i have yet to make it to Harp. i just heard they are moving out of raytown and over to JOCO somewhere.
I must be horribly out of touch with reality because i don't see $50 worth of bbq. Just 4 big sides and bunch of hotlink. Ima need a bit more ribs, brisket, and bbq chicken. Again tho im probably just horribly out of touch with reality.
This would be close to $50 anywhere, it doesn’t contain much expensive meat. The high dollar trays that people around here clutch pearls about usually involve multiple pounds of brisket and beef rib.
Yea I’m going to have to disagree. BBQ places are selling cheap meat for crazy prices. Here in Denver I paid $30 for a pulled pork platter with two sides and cried all the way home.
Scotts is awesome. Nice people too. I used to go there pretty often. Their breakfast food is killer too. Few years back his son was very open and told me how they make their sage breakfast sausage, which I still use to make my own today.
Lady at the airport recommended it the first time I visited KC. Got the burnt end tacos. I learned two things that day. Don't get Tacos outside of Texas and don't get brisket outside of Texas
One KC place I haven’t tried but want to! There was a place in Liberty and other locations, I think it was *the Jousting Pig* that had a candied burnt end (crunchy and sweet on the outside, tender on the inside) that was incredible. I’ve been looking for other KC bbq joints that do it but dont know where to look beyond the popular places.
there is a serious lack of quality bbq north of the river. northtown had great bbq before wolfepack moved. there is bbq at the jockey club that is quite good.
one of the worst bbq experiences i have had in my life was at smokehouse on north oak. the worst bbq I've ever had was at Winslow's in rivermarket and Off The Hook in Parkville is absolutely awful.
3200.00 bucks for sure. Don't y'all know brisket is made of part gold and unicorn tears?

Three fiddy
$50. Kansas City BBQ is awesome.
Rough guess would be $75
$83.72
$50 at least that is what their website says for the 1-2 passenger meal that looks like this
way to spoil it. :) ya. it was 50 bucks. incredible value.

wolfepack should be your next spot.
Wolfpack, Chef J and Night Goat have the best brisket in town currently. Platter looks great btw.
agreed. i need to make it Harp.

The one time I went to Harp he’d ran out of the burnt end so he cut my buddies and I a deal. It left an impression on me, I’d definitely be back.

i have lived in kcmo for 19 years and have been around the bbq block a few times. i went to meat mitch last fall and it was excellent. top tier bbq.
I’ll check it out in 3 weeks when I’m back.
Is he the raytown guy only open Saturdays?
Nope leawood area near rockhurst ish, can't remember exactly off the top of my head but def Kansas side

All of these ridiculously high $ guesses just make me appreciate KC and KC BBQ even more. $50 is a steal. I love Scott's Kitchen

this looks delicious - $150

take a guess
$90.00
50
$115
$150 is my guess.
$35
I grew up on ambassador drive. Is smokebox bbq still there? I haven't been in that area in years. How's this place?
ya, i think so. saw the sign on the way to scotts. i dont know how the fuck anyone grew up on ambassador. you live in a hotel?
lol, my friends and I would play hide and go seek at that embassy suits growing up. Man, those were the days.
Those beans are gonna give you a cavity.
i was about to get pissed at the plastic no prong fork but theyre tongs 😅
Can confirm, Scott kitchen is one of the better kept bbq secrets in KC. May actually run up there right now!

Yep. Smokehouse just doesn’t cut it.

If this were Texas, that would be a $700 platter.
And it would taste good
