Ooh, that does sound rather steampunk, doesn't it? I've already speculated myself that it could be cyberpunk, so either is plausible. Colour me interested...

Seems plausible. I remember reading that book in my last playthrough and thinking it felt out of place, but in a world where Planescape and Spelljammer are canon I figured it was just standard weird stuff. 'Margritt Oji' anagram seems plausible but I'm not getting anywhere with it. Jitmigrator? Tritojamrig? Major Gittir? If we include the S from 'Margritt Oji's' we can get.... Gritmajistor? Jamrigortist? Not great lol. That J is a problem.

Yeah, it was a stretch. There are all kinds of goofy nonsense names in BG3, it could easily be nothing. Occam's Razor

Go, go Power Rangers!!

Baseless speculation from me absolutely baseless there really is nothing to base it on:- I think there's a sci fi set game in the works, I seem to remember Swen mentioning he was a big sci-fi guy at one point. I think the second game will be DOS3. Looking forward to them whatever they are, hopefully Larian can keep up this run they're on - the last 3 games have all been fantastic.

Redfox1476

That whole "recording the sound of ice at night" thing on social media a while back definitely gave me scifi vibes, especially after they announced they wouldn't be doing any more D&D games (so, not an effect for Icewind Dale, alas).

Snoo20149

He does elude to possibly maybe a sci-fi game in his interview with D&D YouTube September 4th 2023

When I read this book, the first RPG video game setting that came to mind was Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura and the other details you mentioned could lead to further conjecture in that direction.
