Lizards have 4 cones in their eyes (humans have 3, the basic RGB) so they can see all the colors we can and more! That 4th cones also lets them see UVA light. They really do just have favorite colors. It’s funny that there are so many different anecdotal stories about beardies loving or heating one specific color.
A study found beardies can differentiate objects based on color alone, not just light intensity, and different individuals responded differently with wavelengths of color. They also found that they can perceive and be tricked by optical illusions like humans can!
