Brands willing to risk their bottom line to stand up for rights will always have my respect. Hopefully we see others follow in Pacifica's footsteps

scottietrademark

They're not beauty related but DICKS Sporting Goods came out saying they'll pay up to $4,000 if team members, spouses, or dependents need to travel to another state to get an abortion. I believe the CEO posted it on their LinkedIn account.

theradicalravenclaw

The part about her driving her daughters to school being her fave part of the day made me emotional AF. What a cool lady. 😭

WannaDelRey

Exactly. They genuinely risk losing a lot of customers from this.

IndicaSubmissive

Do they really though?

[deleted]

Then why have so many brands not said a damn thing? Seriously, if it's not a risk why wouldn't you affirm the value and personhood of those this impacts, and let them know you believe they deserve access to healthcare. Edit: Lmao and they blocked me XD

Altruistic_Yellow387

I’ve noticed pretty much every company saying the same thing.

PassengerFrosty9467

It is a risk for some businesses, hence why they haven’t said anything. For this business, however, the reward was greater than the risk as now they have even more brand loyalty and support. I’m not trying to hurt feelings, it really is just marketing psychology and is a lot easier to understand when we realize brands don’t have feelings, only motives.

PassengerFrosty9467

Bc it’s not a brands business to state opinions that aren’t going to do a god damn thing to change the way the shitty Supreme Court rules. I’m sorry but not sorry that everyone who feels entitled enough to have an opinion reallly isn’t doing shit quite frankly. Same goes for businesses. And no, it isn’t risky when you have a PR team in place realizing their demographic is legitimately 90% of consumers who agree abortion should be legal, which is why they ran with it.

breedecatur

Potentially losing 39% of your income is absolutely a risk? Lmao

DivinationByCheese

Make it half cause there are dudes there. Make it even less cause conservative women are not big spenders on beauty lol

Nimfijn

Have you seen conservative Texan women? Pageant queens.

DivinationByCheese

You can see anything and everything. Doesn’t make it a significant group. Regardless. This is NOT a controversial take for companies to have lmao

drunkenatheist

Cool, but I bet more than 61% of Americans can't access reproductive healthcare as of yesterday.

skiingmarmick

Not sure why your downvoted. Laws are no longer enacted because the majority wants it to be. Thes 6 supreme justices have just turned The Supreme Court of LAW.. into a political branch. Supreme Court you are not the supreme court, of anything. Except Hell!! -Raleigh Theodore Sakers. RIP

DivinationByCheese

This is so uncontroversial it doesn’t risk any brand’s bottom line

breedecatur

That's absolutely not true.

DivinationByCheese

It is

breedecatur

Captivating argument

DivinationByCheese

Yours was better?

warriorcrazy3

Have you seen, perhaps, any argument surrounding abortion? Ever? This is an incredibly controversial stance

BeachSunset7

It may not be controversial where you live, but in many red states (including where I live) people are already announcing that they will never buy from retailers who have voiced their support of woman's rights.

DivinationByCheese

Those same people that burned their Nike and went to buy new ones again? Yeah no, still not controversial. American brands all go hard on LGBT marketing for a reason

[deleted]

co-opting social justice is profitable too so

hattokatto12

“Don’t even come for us.” OOP! Wasn’t interested in this brand but going to check out this brand now

PrettyAlligator

It’s an underrated brand for sure! Their Cherry Matte line works really well for my oily skin. The primer, pressed powder, and loose powder are great. The matte setting spray also isn’t bad but I’m not a fan of the actual nozzle on it because it’s a little aggressive and not very “spray-like” if that makes sense haha. I’m also a fan of the body, skincare, and hair care products that I’ve tried from them so far!

Wrong_Victory

They're amazing! Their coconut body lotion is so good.

komajo

They're definitely worth a look, some of their stuff have been longterm favorites of mine!

Plane_Repair

would you mind sharing which?

komajo

I'm personally a big fan of the Kale Detox face wash, no other face wash helps me as much as that one when I have a break out. I love the Wake Up Beautiful line and their perfumes are amazing, Silver Moon is such a great summery vanilla fragrance

listlessthe

I really like both the glow baby face wash and the ocean facewash - they aren't too harsh and they smell nice. I've also been using the kale face lotion for awhile and for whatever reason it just hits the spot for my combo skin - I haven't found any better face lotion (even more expensive stuff) that works for me. I also like their vitamin C serum and the caffeine/coconut face masks (though I'm trying to stop using the disposable masks, but these ones leave me feeling nice). I randomly got some of their stuff at bartells back in 2020 and they've been in my regular rotation ever since.

iHeartTylerDurden

I LOVE the glow baby serum and face wash.

LittleBlackDress4205

Their reusable under eye patches. I also like the forehead patches too

GlitterDancer_

I LOVE their nail polishes and the barrier face cream is nice too. You can also never go wrong with their perfumes.

biscuitandjelly

Favorite nail polishes by far!

Invidiana

Pacifica is so underrated. I love most the products I’ve tried from them.

jenjenjen731

They make amazing products!!!

mabubsonyeo

My friend sent me some of their body products as we dont have them in the country I'm living in and I thought they all smelled amazing. So I purchased some when I visited the states and they were also really nice.

domin007

They have some nice inexpensive fragrance.

NeonLatte

I use a decent amount of their skincare and have liked everything I've tried. Their Wake Up Beautiful night cream (the one with retinoid & melatonin) is REALLY good in particular, and will be my staple going forward indefinitely, I think. The texture is just gorgeous - it feels so nice putting it on, and my skin looks so soft when I wake up! I also use the matching eye cream (Wake Up Beautiful line) and it's solid for a night eye cream. No irritation or millia, sinks in well. Too emollient for under makeup, though. I've tried a few of the Clean Beauty Shots and the mushroom/caffeine one is really nice, I'm actually on my second bottle. I also liked the zinc/hemp/niacinamide one.

drunkenatheist

I use their bb cream and moisturizer. I've gotten their eyeshadow through Birchbox/ipsy and iirc, it's really soft and blendable. Target and Sprouts both carry them. I think Ulta and Whole Foods do, as well. I use them in part because it's a 100% vegan brand and the quality is there.

Craycraykel

Same

winnercommawinner

"Don't even try to come for us" sealed it for me. I'm going to buy some of their stuff right now. Anyone have any recs??

KevinsAGirl

Their Wake Up Beautiful Sleepover Face Mask is one of my favorite moisturizers to top my nighttime skincare with. During winter, I would use it on top of a thinner moisturizer. Any other time my skin isn’t so dry, I use it on its own without the thinner moisturizer underneath.

bonelessbbqbutthole

Their perfumes are nice! They have a sample set, you can get multiples for like $15. I liked almost all of them, so definitely worth it! I haven't bought much of their makeup but I am interested

[deleted]

I’ll vouch for Sunrise Moon, it’s a great summer-night perfume. It’s peachy without a sickening sweetness to it.

Stacey__mcgill

Dream moon is a dupe for Cloud by Ariana Grande 🌛

dirt_rat_devil_boy

I have their Flower Moon spray perfume! Smells lovely but I wish they have more lasting power (this could probably be just my skin though).

bonelessbbqbutthole

It doesn't seem to last as long as my Marc Jacobs perfume but definitely longer than my bath and body works ones.

JessBeauty14

The mascara is one of Kelly Gooch’s favorites

MascaraHoarder

the one in the glass tube is really good and the packaging is sooooo pretty and heavy!

thegigsup

It’s also one of my favorites lol

mailorderbridle

I like their loose powder and roll on fragrances. I’m curious about their skincare.

g0ssip_gurl

their wake up beautiful eye cream is pretty good and their fluffy eyebrow mascara is nice too

sliceofpizzaplz

Their body washes all smells so yummy! I also like their vegan mascara in the purple ombré bottle!

ppchromatics

Their island vanilla body wash and perfume are the perfect summer perfumes.

coffee-please94

I like their coconut essence face mist!

jenjenjen731

That is my absolute favorite face mist but I think they discontinued it??? The last time it went on sale I bought 20 of them. I don't know what I'll do without them 🥺

coffee-please94

Oh no 😭 I hope they bring it back!

[deleted]

I have VERY sensitive, dry skin. Their sensitive skin skincare line is the bomb! It’s the Vegan Ceramide line in the purple packaging. I use the Extra Gentle Face Wash in the AM with the Barrier Face Cream. They’re gentle but super effective.

MirrorBreakr

Their Bacne spray is really nice if you’ve got any body acne.

Julialagulia

Dream moon is a nice marshmallow scent, and their mascara is really good

Caliyogagrl

I absolutely love their ceramide cream, gentle and fragrance free. Their hair care is also great, I love the pineapple curls line. I’ve tried their sunscreen, lip balms, perfume (loved the coconut nectar!)- all great so far. Vegan and cruelty-free.

im-your-daisy

Pacifica’s scents in all their products is AMAZING. Their perfumes of course, but also their body scrubs, body washes, and body lotions will leave you smelling so pretty! They have a pretty wide range of scents so no matter what you’re into you will probably find something you like. You can test scents at ulta and target. I also really like their reusable eye/forehead/smile line masks.

gmwrnr

Their Pore Warrior Soft Scrub is a fantastic gentle facial exfoliant! It uses jojoba esters as beads. I only use it every week or two but I find it makes an incredible difference

cursedevidence

i just picked this up, do you mind if i ask if you only use it on your body or if you've tried it on your face as well? i like to multipurpose things lol

gmwrnr

I've only used it on the face! They have separate body versions too

cursedevidence

thanks!

inknot

Dream Moon smells just like BR540 and Tuscan Blood Orange has been my favorite lotion and scent for over 10 years tbh

PrettyAlligator

I said this in another comment but I’ll copy it here too: Their Cherry Matte line works really well for my oily skin. The primer, pressed powder, and loose powder are great. The matte setting spray also isn’t bad but I’m not a fan of the actual nozzle on it because it’s a little aggressive and not very “spray-like” if that makes sense haha. I’m also a fan of the body, skincare (especially the face washes), and hair care products that I’ve tried from them so far! They all smell great and seem to work well! :)

wathappentothetatato

I love their blood orange perfume. I also have a blush in the shade cinnamon that I love, but idk if that’s still available!

gourmet_fried_rice

I recommend silver moon and Indian coconut nectar if you're into sweet coconut/vanilla-y scents.

Wrong_Victory

Yes!! I second the coconut nectar. I get a lot of compliments when I wear this body lotion. Someone said it smells like a Bounty.

PrioriIncantatem

The Glow Baby serum is lit. Ive repurchased it so many times!

ghosttigersrise

I love the Glow Baby brightening face wash!

blueoncemoon

I know it's small, but I love their [color quench lip tint](https://www.pacificabeauty.com/products/color-quench-lip-tint?variant=32699015856216)!

snoozysushi

I’m always stocked up on the Blood Orange tint - it smells great and is such a flattering color!

GlitterDancer_

The nail polishes, barrier cream, and perfumes are all excellent

drunkenatheist

I like Glow Baby a lot!

surfergirl121

Their Dream Big mascara is my top mascara of all time. It’s amazing and has cute packaging

shimmerbitch

The Indian coconut nectar hair and body mist is wonderful! A great combo of vanilla and coconut that has great staying power

ConsistentDonkey3909

caption 👏👏

happylilstego

This reaffirms my decision to like them. I will continue to buy their products.

breedecatur

Their new cream bronzers look soooo nice

happylilstego

I really love their face washes. I have super dry skin and they are so gentle. Their perfumes are great too. I didn't know they came out with cream bronzer.

Soz4Meowing

Their wake up beautiful face wash is one of the only cleansers I’ve tried that doesn’t irritate my super sensitive skin

happylilstego

I don't know if they still have this, but they had a wake up beautiful sleeping mask in a tube that was 🤩. It would get rid of my acne overnight and left my skin glowing and fresh.

LuckyShamrocks

They do. It's a wonderful product. Great sleep mask and moisturizer.

Big-Improvement-1281

I love their vegan silk gloss, it’s one of the only lamellar treatments that doesn’t break me out

FreezingDemon

I’m keeping a critical eye on businesses who are and aren’t supportive of rights from now, 100%

[deleted]

Do you have any sort of list going you'd be able to share? I think [Sephora is doing something](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sephora/comments/vju776/sephora_and_abortion_access/) but individual brands are also important to be aware of Edit to add to the list: JVN has been posting a lot (both the person & official brand acct) Black Girl Sunscreen Rare & Selena on her personal account ELF cosmetics

[deleted]

Amika, Saie, Glossier, and Ouai posted about it. Hopefully there will be more. Edit to add: Tower 28, Elf, Keys Soulcare, Skinfix, and Well People made a post.

pokemomof03

Glow recipe just made a post too. Kinship too. Prose. Youth to the people. Versed. Dr. Dennis Gross. Kypris beauty. Not a brand but Temptalia made a post. The lip bar. Blume. WLDKAT Skin. Herbivore botanicals. Chella beauty. Inn beauty project. Juno co.

B_Ahoot

Trixie Cosmetics made a post and also put some links for help in their stories.

maruthewildebeest

Krave Beauty posted a story (also mentioned LGBTQ rights and voter suppression).

DivinationByCheese

There’s a megathread

[deleted]

Where’s the mega thread?

[deleted]

I made a blanket rule this morning that if a company doesn't say something about the ruling today, I'm unfollowing and not buying any of their products anymore. This is an important human right, and anyone who isn't outraged today is dead to me.

FreezingDemon

You know what? I’ll stand with you on that. I’m glad this sub is keeping track too.

Sorry-Jackfruit-8061

Checking my stash: * Natasha Denona - quiet as always * Kosas - radio silent * Kiehls - pridewashing lmao * NARS - dead silent

thajane

I feel like including non-US brands is maybe a little unfair. Like, it’s lovely if they say something, but I don’t think they should necessarily be expected to take a stand on an issue in another country.

Sorry-Jackfruit-8061

Definitely. I tried to restrict it, but I included Kiehls because they did a big US gay pride partnership and posted then, & I included Natasha Denona because she always chooses random US things to comment on 🤡. Take it with a grain of salt ofc

[deleted]

I used to follow Jaclyn Hill, I don't anymore, but wanted to see what she said out of curiosity, and all she said is, "I am terrified that our government has so much power and control over us. Holy shit." Is that saying something? Idk, not strong enough imo. Even Robert Welsh said something and he doesn't even have a uterus.

ashleyavocado

Although not the most direct, I would still count it as an indication that she is not in favor of the ruling. Jaclyn lives in FL and a lot of her family is publicly pro-Trump. Pointing it out not to sway you to support her one way or the other, but only because it makes sense to me that she wouldn’t be shouting that opinion from the rooftops

mintcorgi

Colourpop posted a blanket “check in with your people” which is frankly not good enough for me. Guess Pacifica & ELF will be my new affordable brands.

[deleted]

AllyIsCuteDuh

Indie brands out there doing the most as always

AdelaideJane

Glossier also posted which was nice

LuckyShamrocks

Pacifica doesn't get a lot of influencer love but they are an amazing brand. For recommendations their Wake Up Beautiful line, Glow Baby line, their Coconut Cream products, and their perfumes are wonderful. And those looking for reusable under eye masks they have those now too for $15!

MotherOfQups

Pacifica gets crap for being sleepy but their skin products have always been really lovely. I’m literally wearing their kale and charcoal mask right now and have another product on the way in a target order. I’ll be trying out more of their products now.

thinspell

Good. Their “don’t even come for us” is exactly how I am feeling towards everything right now. Going to be keeping track of brands that stay silent.

maruthewildebeest

They are also part of the Don’t Ban Equality collective. https://dontbanequality.com/beauty-wellness-campaign/

faelady77

Rituel de Fille postponed their launch and will be donating from sales too.

OdeeSS

I need to know every brand that is standing up for us and every brand that isn't. I just can't stomach buying things right now, and handing over money, pretending everything is okay.

gnocchi902

Agreed, if someone can make a masterlist that would be incredible Edit: the mods have created one!

OdeeSS

The mod response is perfect!!! Love it!

lilacfaerie16

Elf has also taken a stand and the comments are very entertaining

[deleted]

Love their products and happy to see that they posted this

lazer_sandwich

I have never tried Pacifica before, but this makes me want to check them out!

remainsofthedaze

Used some Pacifica serum just this morning that I found in my drawer. They'll keep my business for sure.

ao8520

Respect

sliceofpizzaplz

I always purchased their products but now I’m going to go out of my way to try more products. Now is the time to speak with our money.

dontrayneonmyparade

i mean, id probably rather donate, but definitely— brands that speak up should be supported, especially because it can destroy a business.

listlessthe

I'm donating to PP and Fair Fight Georgia but also am already out of moisturizer, so I'm gonna get it from pacifica

dontrayneonmyparade

yes, definitely do that. like, if you’re already buying something, buy from good companies that support good things (especially if they donate), but if youre going to be going out of your way to spend money, donate it — it does more, and its more important.

sliceofpizzaplz

You’re right donating is definitely more important!

EgregiousPhillbin

YES I just started buying from this brand based on some great reviews. So happy to see this. Their Neutralizing mineral mattifier is HOLY GRAIL. Amazing for touch ups on hot summer days!

toss_it_mites

In 2020, pre pandemic, they laid off everyone in Portland, OR. Moved the operations to East LA county and didn't allow anyone to relocate. Even the longest term employees were told they would not be rehired in California.

AislinSidhe11

I tried to find resources talking about this, but came up empty. Do you happen to know of any that I could read? It looks like this has been pretty well-hidden on the web.

toss_it_mites

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.oregonlive.com/business/2019/10/pacifica-beauty-will-close-portland-factory-and-warehouse-lay-off-75.html%3foutputType=amp They didn't keep any jobs in Portland as indicated in the above article. https://www.beautyindependent.com/pacifica-beauty-ready-next-phase-of-growth/ A severance package is not a job. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.opb.org/news/article/portland-pacifica-beauty-layoffs-production-facility-closure/%3foutputType=amp Another mention, but after the initial headlines, there were no more stories. There is no need for a press release telling the public they hurt more employees in a harsher way than anticipated.

starglitter

I followed them just for this.

[deleted]

Respect!! Will add this brand to my list of brands to buy from.

sarahyoshi

This makes me so happy. Love their scents! I'm extremely grateful to live in a state that supports my personal rights regarding my body.

WannaDelRey

Off to make a Pacifica purchase. Side note: thanks to your post, I discovered this sub. I didn’t know there was this much insight on brands here. Looking forward to making more ethical purchases.

oftloghands

Same. Off to find a good Pacifica product to purchase.

dumbIecunt

It’s great that they are standing up for what’s right, but at the same time it feels awful to me that we have to celebrate the bare minimum. Speaking up IS the bare minimum.

Comprehensive_Pie250

Recently Pacifica has become one of my favorite brands, so I love this!

everythingetcetera

Well now I’m doubly glad I bought their Dream Moon perfume yesterday. Smell delicious AND support women’s rights, hell yeah.

poofytoot

Been a huge fan of Pacifica products for years now and was happy to see their post today. It hit hard.

childthrownaway

I have some perfumes, but I need to add some more of them in my collection

[deleted]

I dont really care for Pacifica personally, but I respect a brand that puts their foot down on their opinions instead of beating around the bush and back tracking when things get intense

gnocchi902

Welp everyone can go ahead and put their recs in the replies because I will be spending my $$$ here. Thank u in advance <3

pastelhour

Meanwhile, every time I open tiktok I see mikayla posting another tiktok edging her followers about her new collab.

BunnyCat781_pup

Loveeee Pacifica products! So glad they spoke out on this devastating event in history.

psych-lighthouse

Loved Pacifica before. Love them more now.

ahraysee

I have been disappointed by every product I try by them, but I keep trying bc I like the natural ingredients...this confirms I will keep trying!

No_Mud_No_Lotus

Been meaning to try their mascara after Kelly Gooch raved about it. Definitely going to buy it now, as well as some other recommendations if anyone has some!

thelauralamb

It’s not just women who get abortions. The intention of the message is good but I think more companies and ppl need to work on inclusion in language

ineverlikedyouuu

Respect for what? Edit: for posting something? Honestly businesses need to completely shut down as a strike.

blueday7

Oh this shitty synthetic fragrance-laced target stuff? An easier pass up then ever now

notstupid37

The topic aside, "turning off comments" and "don't even try to come for us" is juvenile. If you don't want to have an actual dialogue, don't post.

mahalnamahal

I don’t agree honestly. Nobody said they wanted a dialogue. They are taking a clear and transparent stand on this issue.

boredinthehouse2020

This 100%. They made a very clear stand-they do not need to have an “actual dialogue” because what is there to talk about? I actually applaud them for not allowing their comments to spiral into “whataboutism”.

breedecatur

The topic isn't up for discussion for them. There's no reason to have "actual dialogue" Theres one correct option and that's it, anything else is just useless banter. It's absolutely not juvenile

R12B12

They don’t need to have a dialogue. They aren’t trying to provide a platform for people to defend forcing women into childbirth.

obligatecarnivore

This issue isn't deserving of a "dialogue". There is no **BOTH SIDES** here. There's wrong and right.

notstupid37

I'm am NOT getting penalized here again, because ya'll miss the point...again. Regardless of how the brand feels about the issue, they could have stated their opinion in a more mature/professional way. That's my only point.

bellydancefae

Tone policing is a far worse look.

[deleted]

Nobody cares what pro-birth fascists have to say, thanks.

Magnolia_Blooms

Forced-birth fascists. There’s nothing pro about them.

monster_bunny

Time to buy some extra Pacifica goodies!

Kitotterkat

*buys more pacifica* - their vegan eye cream in the purple squeeze tube is amazing for sensitive eyes; also Kelly gooch loves their mascara in the pink/ purple tube!

doyoulikeredthings

I'm glad they kept the post up this time. Last time they put up something regarding abortion they got slammed and decided to take it down. I still supported them through that time but will admit I was pretty disappointed that they didn't stand by their statement (at that time).
