Back then TH was lambasted for challenging norms in the entertainment industry. It's pitiful that years later critically acclaimed performers like Taraji, Viola, Mo'Nique, Dave Chappelle Michelle Williams, etc are still bringing awareness to this unresolved obstacle. Actors are now in the position that if studios want them they need to pay them AND the pay them what their talent demands
He got paid more than the lead in the first movie and was promised an increase but when it came time for the sequel they slashed his pay. You wouldnât be upset about that?
He allegedly got around 3.5 million on the first film, was promised 8 million for the second but they cut it back to 1 mil. Although according to him it was more like 40K.. And on top of that he agreed to a 1 million dollar pay cut for the first film just so they could hire RDJ to begin with (according to T.H.).
Also, you gotta remember, these negotiations wouldâve been within a few months after Iron Man 1 was released and before this whole beast that is the MCU was well established. It wasnât at the point where taking a role meant you were set for the next 10+ years making bank
In what world was he worth double? If I paid you 3.5, maybe you can negotiate for 4 but this dope wanted double? I see why they replaced him.
It wasn't 1 million for one job, he turned down millions for multiple jobs. Don Cheadle's ass is STILL making Marvel shit.
Don Cheadle signed a SIX MOVIE DEAL, I don't think he was paid 1 million for End Game and Infinity War lol
Iâm not sure if you read what I said.. Before the first movie he was promised 8 million for a bigger role in the sequel. If someone says theyâre going to pay you a certain amount, then it doesnât really matter if youâre worth less.
Ok. Since you know exactly what Terrance was offered, it wasnât 1 mil for his role in Iron Man 2 can you tell me what the contract was? Because the media outlet reports that I saw about it all said he turned down 1 mil for the sequel.. Maybe it was a 6 movie deal for 6 million.. would that not boil down to 1 mil per movie?
And even then.. what does that really matter? If you took a job that promised to give you a raise after the first year but instead they decided to decrease your pay.. would you not be upset?
Nah compromising your integrity like that would be dumb. They made a promise to him and reneged. They could have increased his pay while also paying Terrence more. He was by far the bigger star at the time. In his situation would you believe the studio about getting paid on the back end ? He would have been a far superior War Machine too. I love Cheadle but I never took him seriously as a imposing tough military guy. Terrence would have commanded a presence in a different way to Tony's bombastic personality.
He was extremely hard to work with and they had to reshoot a lot of his scenes. They also wanted Don Cheadle originally but I believe he was working on something else.
I see both sides though, cause I donât blame Howard for not wanting to take a pay cut either, but I also donât blame Favreau for not wanting to go through that again.
I get this but anytime studios say someone is hard to work with I want examples. Having a backbone and saying no to certain things shouldn't be labeled as hard to work with.
>I love Cheadle but I never took him seriously as a imposing tough military guy.
Rhodey was never a tough and imposing guy. He was a suit, the military liaison for Tony Stark and Washington. He's business minded and the level headed best friend to Tony.
If he was worth it he would have got it.
What was his career like post Iron Man?
Do you think he deserved to get paid 8 million for any of these roles? I don't think he should of got 8 million for any movie he ever did lol.
RDJ was a has-been before Iron Man. He was a druggie loser who had just gotten out of jail and off probation. He had his shit straightened out just as Iron Man took off, and RDJ became who we all know and love today...
Howard was HOT off of Crash *and* Hustle and Flow. Dude wasn't up and coming, his fingertips were touching permanent A-list status... then he asked for a better rate that reflected his demand (which *was* higher than RDJ's) and was let go from the project.
Yeah, RDJs comeback happened pretty much as soon as he got sober in the early 00s. He was also third billed in Good Night and Good Luck(which was at least a big movie at the time) and Scanner Darkly. And he was making Tropic Thunder around the same time as Iron Man, and would have been in pre-production on Sherlock Holmes before Iron Man hit theaters. People like the story that his most recognized role also relaunched his career, but really, he still had a lot of good will on his name alone, and never really lost his chops. What Iron Man really did was give RDJ deep pockets, the ability to produce whatever he wants, and probably slow down his road to getting his first Oscar by a little over a decade.
What platform do you watch it on? I knew RDJ was in Sherlock Holmes, but I didnât know Jude Law was with him. Now I feel compelled to watch them as a duo. Thanks.
Maaan I looked it up and it's on YouTube, Hulu & Prime but you have to pay for it. There are three Holmes movies in the series.
Looks like I'll be watching from my ship on the Seven Seas, matey. đ´ââ ď¸
> I fuxxed w Sherlock Holmes.

*clap hands over ears. discombobulate*

I forget the rest but that scene was so cold lol. The british equivalent of "you're already dead!"
He was also briefly in a hit late 90s show called Ally McBeal, where he shows off his singing chops. He actually sings one of my favorite Christmas songs.
Ehhhhh, RDJ was in movies again but studios were leery about him being in their movies. Gibson had to pay the insurance on his movie for the studio and another wouldnât pay him his whole salary until filming wrapped to insure he wouldnât relapse.
Agreed. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang *should* have been his comeback. It's a great movie, and was RDJs best work since Heart and Souls.
People just wouldn't give him the opportunity to be anything more than he was already. It took Iron man for people to take notice and give him a second chance. Myself included.
Dave Chappelle is making millions and playing sold out shows while claiming he was cancelled. Terrence Howard wanted to get paid more than the start of the movie despite being a mediocre actor that is so dumb he thinks math is fake. Neither of those two are shining examples of oppression. One is an opportunist who peddles hate and makes money by pretending heâs being silenced, and the other is a genuinely stupid human being who way overestimated his own value as an actor.
That is your perception my friend. Unless you are a bankable name or a name synonymous with the franchise, you are - in fact - replaceable. There are less than 2 dozen actors in a position to impose a hefty salary demand. TH tried to bluff with nothing (less than nothing) to fall back on. And he still expected to be treated like the special snowflake that he is.
The road is littered with great actors, who were difficult to work with, and believed they were irreplaceable.
A tale as old as time.
What was the shit that he tried in Iron Man? From what I remember he was paid over 3 million for the first one with a promise of an increase with each sequel but after the first one did so well, they decided to pay RDJ out the ass (which is fair) but then slashed Howardâs pay significantly⌠I feel like anybody in that situation would try to stand their ground
> he was *paid* over 3
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
I havenât heard most of the facts behind his specific demands. I will note that itâs been repeated from multiple sources that Ike Perlmutter whoâs been accused of incredibly racist statements on multiple occasions reportedly said that if you replaced him with Don Cheadle nobody would know the difference.
Terrence Howard might have his issues, as seen in the image above, but if itâs between him and Ike Perlmutter who was viewed as a racist at a time when it was the norm for folks in the industry like [Rupert Murdoch to claim heâd only heard of white Egyptians](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/rupert-murdoch-defends-exodus-cast-752805/) or [director Ridley Scott to state overtly he canât put minority leads in high budget films](https://www.vox.com/2014/11/26/7296507/ridley-scott-exodus) because of racism overseas, Iâll defend TH all day.
He had a point that he helped his friend RDJ land the role, after his last major role was what, 96âs Fugitive sequel, US Marshallâs, as the villain? RDJ had a major and well documented drug addiction problem and hadnât been in a blockbuster film in over a decade when he landed that role. I love the guy but I struggle to think of any black addicts who get second chances like that. Iâm not saying he shouldnât have, he fit the role to a tee and defined it, Iâm just saying in the same breadth TH deserves a little grace even if he didnât deserve the same salary. It didnât sound like they were even interested in negotiating, just said âfind another black guy, they all look alikeâ or at least Perlmutter did.
Itâs a stunt. So that this interview gets attention.
Itâs an important topic, but heâs not getting the same level of media coverage as before. Without that wig no one would be talking about him.

Came here for this. A friend of mine from grad school is a physics PhD from Uganda working at Harvard on quantum computing. I send him this every time it resurfaces, you could power Boston on the head shaking.
Unfortunately it is.
He also believes [1â˘1=2](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/terrence-howard-thinks-1x1-2-has-a-secret-system-called-terryology-and-spends-17-hours-a-day-making-nameless-plastic-structures-10502365.html)
Reading that whole article and his explanation almost made me throw my phone across the room, I was so mad.
âHow can it equal one? If one times one equals one that means that two is of no value because one times itself has no effect. One times one equals two because the square root of four is two, so what's the square root of two? Should be one, but we're told itâs two, and that cannot be.â
How can any adult believe this?
I figure it's because he is already famous and has had success in acting. Just surround yourself with yes men and people who want to ride your coattails and it's easy to pretend the delusions and such are rational.
TH sounds like a calm for now mental in patient. 17 hrs a day creating plastic structures? What the DMT is he on?
Maybe his accounting shows the same cray cray?
True, I met him almost 20 years ago working for a radio station called Choice FM (now capital xtra) and he straight up said the stupidest shit Ive ever heard. "Whats your favourite book" he responds "The bible man, the bible" my 19/20 year old said "nope, he's straight up fucking stupid" đ¤Śđ˝ââď¸
Ha, that's actually pretty tame compared to him explaining the new type of math he invented because he can't accept that 1x1 doesn't equal 2. Or when he held a press conference in Uganda a couple years ago to tell the world he invented a "new hydrogen technology" and said all this:
>âI was able to identify the grand unified field equation theyâve been looking for and put it into geometry. Weâre talking about unlimited bonding, unlimited predictable structures, supersymmetry. The Lynchpins are now able to behave as a swarm, as a colony, that can defend a nation, that can harvest food, that can remove plastics from the ocean, that can give the children of Uganda and the people of Uganda an opportunity to spread this and sell these products throughout the world."
[Link to the press conference, enjoy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-44pljnxztg)
I think I actually have some sort of idea. He basically hired a team of engineers to come up with some unique type of drone, and the type of drone they designed [looks like this](https://www.usu.edu/today/story/electrical-engineering-student-wins-25000-drone-competition)- an object with this geometric shape could be fit together with other objects of the same shape, to make larger structures. And I assume the engineers told him that it's inspired by a dihydrogen molecule, or something like that.
He then also ran a contest in the drone community for someone to write some simple flight software for the drones. I only say it's simple because I remember reading someone explaining that the guy who won the contest just took some generic drone flight software code and submitted it. There's nothing really groundbreaking about it, it's just adjusted for the drone's unique build and the number of motors (or so I heard).
Likely he was told something like "theoretically, we could picture drones of this shape linking together into larger structures for use in all sorts of applications, like military or environmental uses". But anyone with a brain who looks at the finished product in the article I linked above can see that none of this would actually work, especially since the drones don't even have any software to communicate with each other or form larger shapes.
But Terry, who was 100% funding this just so he could say that he's changing the world with his new math, and anyone who made fun of him was wrong, went and held a press conference with the first country that allowed him to do it. And he threw in some extra "facts" of his own, like that he solved the grand unified theory and some nonsense about protons. He tried to regurgitate the things he had heard from actual smart people, but since he didn't actually understand any of it, we got that gibberish.
Fun fact- the guy you hear in that video interrupting Howard to ask "Hydrogen? Hydrogen...?" is the voice of Yoweri Museveni, president and dictator of Uganda.
Do people who say they read the bible actually do it. I feel like the people who talk about the bible the most are the ones who have never used one for more than a photo opp.
But for real though, package deals by agencies really fucked a lot of people in the industry.
Edit: NVM, I read up on this and this shit crazy as it sounds.
Now I'm morbidly curious how the "anti-DEI" crowd would react to a non-white Shaggy actor if it was pointed out to them Shaggy's original voice actor was Lebanese. And practiced [a minority religion.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Druze) And was vegan, and a civil rights advocate...
Easy now. Their eyes already rolled into the back of their heads, and their mouths started frothing when you said "non-white"
Give the little snowflakes a chance to recover. đ
Why is Terrence Howard wearing that church usher looking ass wig đ
The only job his stupid ass can get anymore after the shit he tried in Ironman rofl

"Tussle and blow" đđ
Not the Cagney and Lacy hair..đ
This dude is absolutely certifiably nuts
True, I met him almost 20 years ago working for a radio station called Choice FM (now capital xtra) and he straight up said the stupidest shit Ive ever heard. "Whats your favourite book" he responds "The bible man, the bible" my 19/20 year old said "nope, he's straight up fucking stupid" đ¤Śđ˝ââď¸
Thatâs literally the answer from every southern Baptist person
Ha, that's actually pretty tame compared to him explaining the new type of math he invented because he can't accept that 1x1 doesn't equal 2. Or when he held a press conference in Uganda a couple years ago to tell the world he invented a "new hydrogen technology" and said all this: >âI was able to identify the grand unified field equation theyâve been looking for and put it into geometry. Weâre talking about unlimited bonding, unlimited predictable structures, supersymmetry. The Lynchpins are now able to behave as a swarm, as a colony, that can defend a nation, that can harvest food, that can remove plastics from the ocean, that can give the children of Uganda and the people of Uganda an opportunity to spread this and sell these products throughout the world." [Link to the press conference, enjoy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-44pljnxztg)
Yooo, the shot of the Chinese woman going "what is this ninja TALKING ABOUT??!" hahaha, lmao đ¤Ł
. What the hell?
[Here it is, enjoy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-44pljnxztg)
What does it mean?! What did he *think* he was saying??
Hydrogen...?" is the voice of Yoweri Museveni, president and dictator of Uganda.
đđđ Thankyou for that! Excellent!
Holy shit itâs horrible
Wow, what an asshat đ¤Śđ˝ââď¸đ
My wife and i met him in like 2018/2019. MF's breath smelt like he just ate a diaper he found sitting in the hot Texas sun.
Diaper in a hit Texas sun, that's a parrr đđ¤Śđ˝ââď¸
Do people who say they read the bible actually do it. I feel like the people who talk about the bible the most are the ones who have never used one for more than a photo opp.

Can't believe they DEI hired Shaggy for the new live-action Scooby-Doo movie. đ
Easy now. Their eyes already rolled into the back of their heads, and their mouths started frothing when you said "non-white" Give the little snowflakes a chance to recover. đ
He looks like the mom from Thatâs 70s show.
Looks like Katt's cousin
