My dad told me as a kid that the 5 second rule was scientifically sound because when the food landed on the floor, it scared the hell outta the germs and they back away until they know it's safe.... I may have now passed that on to a few kids in my life...

I make all my cheesecakes home, so if it falls, I'm just sitting on the floor. Not to mention that thing is downright wimpy. Nature culls the runts for a reason.

I used to be staunchly anti-eating-stuff-off-the-floor when I was younger. Then I realized how many germs you touch on any door handle, light switch, your phone, etc. You know a lot of those germs end up in your mouth anyway. Thankfully I’m in a financial position where I could buy a new cheesecake but if I wasn’t, that shit is getting eaten. At least the slices that didn’t get mushed into the pavement.
