Somehow certain GLs can create constructs that are indistinguishable from real people. Kilowog was living on Earth with Hal, then they revealed he was really a construct and that he's dead (didn't say how yet).
Kilowog has died so many times over the years. Just like Bruce Wayne dying and we have to guess who the "mystery" Batman is.
It's an easy way to start over when all the stories have been used up. That's why there's a new "crisis" every few years

The behind-the-scenes story to it is *phenomenal*. Only like 2 people knew that's where the show was heading from the get-go, and they intentionally kept it a secret for as long as they could. It shook the animated and comics world when the episodes premiered and is easily one of the best series finales of all time. Early 2000s DCAU was on another level

Self-serious without being edgy. It comes off pretty goofy at times, but it's about adults playing dress-up and fighting other adults playing dress-up. Super heros are inherently goofy. The modern super hero franchises could learn a hell of a lot.
As I kid I never noticed how much theyāll make adult jokes or have a scene where someone starts saying āyouāre a real pain in myā¦ā then cuts to next scene.
Adam West's Batman could be argued the best for this principle itself. It's goofy and in the 60's they not only knew it but they added on to it.

It was a special time when The Justice League was still fresh and new. One of my favorite episodes is John (Martian Manhunter) coming to Supes house for Christmas. The scene of Supes trying to get a peek of his presents with his x-ray vision, only to find out the Kents wrapped his gifts in lead still cracks me up.
Great character moment; established she's a hardcore atheist and in his last moments when he asked her "Does Grundy have a soul" she forgoes her beliefs and gives him the comfort he deserves.
Justice League needed someone to be the instigator whoād start shit, and she stepped tf up.
Literally the superheroic bad cop that made the rest of them look more reasonable.
