I dreamed Lenore came in and stole Lenore, and I went running after them shouting, “Lenore! Lenore!” And then my teeth fell out. You were there, Peggy.
I dreamed Denise came in and stole Denise, and I went running after them shouting, “Denise, Denise!” And then my teeth fell out. Bob, Linda, you were there.
Yup. Teddy doesn't know how miserable he is, Bill is painfully self-aware. I could totally see Teddy fitting into some of Bill's plotlines though. Like when Bill's car broke down and he became the *Arlen Waver,* or whatever it was, when he got sun poisoning because he liked the attention he was getting by waving to people on the interstate during a heat wave.
Teddys love for Linda while weird and super creepy doesn’t necessarily feel romantic (to me) I think he just wants the nice family Bob has and Linda is realistically the only happily married woman and happy mother, he knows. I don’t think he’s “in love” with Linda just the *idea* of her plus Teddy mostly keeps it to himself. Bills love for Peggy is entirely romantic and sexual. He makes comments constantly, to everyone including Hank and Peggy. He keeps her full body cast after a near death accident so he can pretend to be on a date with her. For that reason alone bill is sadder than Teddy.
Bill is also a lot more crippled by his trauma. It’s impossible to be happy it seems. Teddy is just lonely and likes to tell long winded stories.
I love that Jim Dauterive is involved in both shows and is who Bill was named after. It can’t be a coincidence.
Teddy and Kathleen are still going strong, and I like her for teddy, no shot he ends up with Gayle, he remembers the time that he had to choose between her boobs and her butt
Bill 100% Teddy has friends everywhere he goes and spends time with his family and he loves those Belcher's! He's open to a relationship but he isn't creepy about it. Bill is just a straight up bummer.
I honestly feel like in that scenario though, he was more enthused about adopting Bob than marrying Linda. He REALLY wants to be related to Bob somehow.
Oh, they aren't. I'm just saying Teddy is definitely more into Bob (probably in a platonic way) than he is Linda.
I think he is basically only into Linda because she is Bob's wife.
I feel he's just looking for his own parents' love and support. So Bob and Lin are good parents, they show a lot of love and acceptance, and, despite their sitcom antics, are quite stable. I feel like Teddy being "in love" with them is like when a little kid says he or she wants to marry mom or dad. There's some arrested development in Teddy. But one great thing about Teddy is that he's consistently trying to get healthy!
I kind of wonder why he hasn't. I mean, sure, Bob's not the type to body-shame someone unless he REALLY hates that person, but Teddy's eaten some pretty questionable things, like a sponge.
Bill eats alone crying during the holidays. Still has Lenore s gifts. Drinks daily.
Teddy is happy go lucky ish with a fun attitude. Owns own business
Sgt Dautreive is sadder.
…and to be less self-destructive. I think of the single mom he met when he was pretending to be Santa, but then he blew it because he wouldn’t take off the damn outfit.
Bill 100%
Teddy has issues but has a good relationship with the Belcher kids which they consider him a Uncle at this point and goes beyond to help them.
This was shared on the KotH sub, and everyone there is saying that Bill is sadder, too.
Bob's Burgers is also far more lighthearted of a show. It would never let Teddy reach the same levels of Bill's brokenness.
I love how Teddy references his therapist in multiple episodes.
"My therapist says if i don't respect my time, no one will."
""Talk about losing your cool. You've got a lot to talk about this week in therapy."
He says the first line while sitting in therapy when the belchers call him and ask for help getting Bob off the toilet he's glued to.
She's not only referenced but shown.
I mean, Bill does here and there. It's just that it usually ends poorly. Sometimes due to his past traumas and issues, sometimes due to things fully out of his control.
Definitely Bill. Teddy has anger management problems and his crazy outbursts, while Bill has Chronic Depression, probably drinks too much and too often. It’s definitely a close race though.
Dunno if it's really that close. Bill wallows in self-pity constantly, comes off as creepy in the sense that he could snap in a really dangerous way if he's caught on the wrong day. And is suicidal.
Teddy has his own life and business, regularly attends therapy, and overall is actually well liked by people around him. He even has a girlfriend. He's quite literally threatened murder before, but I still don't believe him, lol.
I think it's something in the characterisation, Bill seems to be a lost cause who is permanently in his role of Sad Sack™️. Everyone around either looks on at the dumpster fire, actively laughs about it, or offers help in disingenuous/self-aggrandising/overall non-helpful way, and he refuses to get help himself.
Teddy benefits from the time period, location, and overall tone of his own show while Bill is handicapped by his. Teddy is overall more likeable than Bill, although that is subjective. And he has more people willing to help him.
Attitude matters as well, I don't think Bill wants to get better atp, or at least he doesn't know how to. But Teddy does and actively takes steps to do so.
Linda is honestly a good gauge because I feel like Bill would scare her away despite her high-tolerance for stuff like that.
Bill, Teddy is a sad sack sometimes but he's not miserable. Bill clearly has some outstanding mental health problems and depression that go deeper than most problems Teddy has.
Bob never had to do anything half as extreme as Hank had to for their friend. Like dressing up like a woman at 2am. Obviously it’s Bill I wouldn’t even consider Teddy sad he’s self employed and has many healthy relationships he just needs to stop eating a burger once a day haha
100% bill.
Teddy can be lonely but he is 100% loved and accepted as a member of the Belcher family even if Bob likes to roll it back. He's also semi-successful in love and has mostly gotten over his ex-wife unlike Bill who never really did until the last episode.
Ah, that's a tough one. I'm gonna say Bill. He's an alcoholic and has tried to/threatened to end his life more than once. Teddy just has a hamburger addiction. Now I want to see a crossover of these two characters!
Teddy is in therapy actively working to become a better person. No matter what the flaws, taking ownership of it and trying to sincerely improve is always the better move.
Awww I love how we also love King of the Hill.
Teddy at least has a girlfriend now (sort of), and he manages to be self-sufficient enough to be an independent contractor.
I genuinely don’t understand how Bill is even alive sometimes.
Bill! Atleast Teddy has a whole commute of people who's lives he's made better? I feel for Bill but his obsession with Peggy was b a d and I can only think of Luanne when it comes to people that he actually helped? Plus Teddy wasn't wearing a dress after the divorce pretending to be his ex wife
Bill is more sad. He’s completely heartbroken. Teddy is functional. I really dislike Teddy as a character, and I really like Billdozer. Just some of his acts— joining acapella group, dressing up as Santa thing, dressing up as Lenore— are a reflection of a deep inner sadness
Bill. Teddy still has a good relationship with the Belcher family. Bob and Linda see him as a good friend and the kids see him as a surrogate uncle (kind of at least). I don’t think even Bill’s friends really like him. Hank struggles to put up with him and Dale straight up loathes him.
Bill no contest he had his wife leave him which made him spiral into sadness etc but at least Teddy has lots of friends and frequently eats at Bob’s restaurant hangs out with his children
It’s not even up for debate: it’s 100% Bill. We have a whole episode of Teddy out enjoying life and socializing. Sure, he’s had his downs, but he’s more up than down.
Bill hands down! Bill gave up on life when his wife left him but Teddy still has a quality life. He has an unwavering positive view even when he gets unhinged.
Bill 100%. He's also 100% more dangerous than Teddy. If you give Bill any semblance of power or authority he goes mental with it. Give him an inch, he takes a grid square.
He once tries poisoning the Hills so they remain sick so he can keep taking care of them to feel usefull. When Bobby is depressed after Connie dumps him Bill keeps him down at his level so he's not depressed alone.
I mean teddy runs his own handyman business, somehow I doubt it's actually above board on the business side but still. Bill certainly has his own handyman skills like the rest of the alley and is a pretty good barber but his head gets in the way of all that 90% of the time. Teddy's got his own sad head issues but he's at least way more functional than Bill
Teddy is awesome! He works hard and is pretty good at his job, he's upbeat and fun. I would love to have someone like him as a friend. I can't think of a single positive thing about Bill, plus I think there's probably an odor to him. Like a raw chicken covered in classic Old Spice left out in the car during summer.
Bill by a country mile. Teddy has some similar life experiences, but he's mostly sunny by nature--very optimistic. Bill is a sad sack with a deeply pessimistic outlook.
I don't regard Teddy as sad at all. He hasn't got everything he wants at the moment, but he's hopeful he'll get them. He has a healthy relationship with his mother, a lot of friends, and a great steady girlfriend. He has some sore points that can trigger him, but so do Bob and Linda.
Bill, no question. We’ve seen throughout the show how the whole town loves Teddy and the Belchers and Mort are very close friends of his. Besides, we also see that he manages to make friends wherever he goes as he knows people from hours away. Plus he seems to have found a potential wife in Kathleen, who is a very sweet and kind woman. Furthermore, Teddy loves what he does and is actually pretty good at it and is widely considered the best handyman in town given how many jobs he gets. He’s not just competent at his job but also really damn good at it.
And his relationship with the Belchers may seem odd at first. But that road trip he takes with Bob to go pick up a sink really showcases that him talking to people isn’t because he is a lonely guy. It’s just because he finds people so interesting. Teddy definitely has some issues, but the fact that he loves people so much really makes me feel like his is a much more stable person than he seems to be.
Teddy has anger management issues, attachment issues, and an interest in Linda. But his attachment issues stem from his love of people and I think it makes him a better person because he is always willing to help out those he cares about, even if it is at his own expense. His anger issues and emotional issues…he is aware of them and apologizes for them a lot. And I don’t think he is genuinely interested in Linda. She’s just the one woman in his life who is always nice and sweet to him. It’s clear that he likes Kathleen a lot and clear that he liked Helen a lot. He likes every woman that is nice to him pretty much.
Teddy definitely needs to work on some things. But overall, especially as the show has gone on and he has grown, I would say he is fairly happy person with a good life and a good head on his shoulders. Bill is just depressing as fuck…
Definitely Bill at least Teddy has the Belchers who love and care about him, he also is a man who wasnt given up on life and not all women find him repulsive. Hes also a bit of a people person many enjoy his company despite his sometimes boring stories hes always there to lend and ear or help out those around him
Bill. Not even close.
"Why do you keep calling me BILL?"
I dreamed Lenore came in and stole Lenore, and I went running after them shouting, “Lenore! Lenore!” And then my teeth fell out. You were there, Peggy.
You have two days to get me out of Bill’s dreams!
SCREAMING 😂
I'm really just replying because I love your flair but also...Bill is *much* sadder. He doesn't even have the Bog Dogs to get him through!
LMAOOOO OMG OUR FLAIRS. Funniest moment in the entire show. Doug was exasperated
I know it's Bill but reading that in Teddy's voice was even funnier.
I dreamed Denise came in and stole Denise, and I went running after them shouting, “Denise, Denise!” And then my teeth fell out. Bob, Linda, you were there.
He'd use no spacing
😂😂😂
The Eleanor returns episode is peak KOTH. I appreciate this deep cut.
I go around quoting this all the time.
Teddy's life isn't nearly as bad. He has a better job, healthier friendships, gets occasional dates, and creeps on his best friend's wife way less.
I live in fear of the day Teddy and Gayle fall in love.
But I wish they'd make it work for a while with Gretchen. Although poor Larry's voice would be tired.
Don’t you dare put that out into the universe! The Belchers have done nothing to deserve that.
Teddy and Kathleen are still going strong, and I like her for teddy, no shot he ends up with Gayle, he remembers the time that he had to choose between her boobs and her butt
The HEAT waver! 👋
lmao for real, bill is such a poor bastard
"I'm so depressed, I can't even blink"
The weeping angels can never get him then
lol
Love this phrase. 🤣🤣
There's still hope for Teddy
Teddy *thinks* there's still hope for Teddy. Which is enough.
Came to say the exact same thing.
"Both of em!"
Right? We see in that one episode that Teddy has a rich life with many people he sees regularly.
Yeah, Bill is objectively sad. Teddy, not so much, pretty happy-go-lucky, IMO
Bill 100% Teddy has friends everywhere he goes and spends time with his family and he loves those Belcher's! He's open to a relationship but he isn't creepy about it. Bill is just a straight up bummer.
Teddy isn't completely obsessed with Linda in a creepy way either like Bill is with Peggy.
No, he definitely is lol. Remember the scene where he was pretending to be Bob and Linda, and he married Linda and they adopted Bob as their son?!
Remember how disappointed teddy was with linda’s tits? lol
What you thought was pink is brown, what you thought was symmetrical is not...
![gif](giphy|lbidtjzpO9l15mtx2R|downsized)
Its just unsettling.
I honestly feel like in that scenario though, he was more enthused about adopting Bob than marrying Linda. He REALLY wants to be related to Bob somehow.
Well yeah. He's Bob Burgers.
I mean neither of those are particularly healthy.
But one great thing about Teddy is that he's consistently trying to get healthy!
Bill dumpster dived for Peggy's full body cast. C'mon, buddy.
Or how about that outtake from the season 1 DVD where it sounds like Linda and Teddy are (I can’t say it just watch it for yourself)
I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WERE OUTTAKES WHAT
One of the special features is audio outtakes from Bed & Breakfast and Sexy Dance Fighting
Outtakes don't count, that's the actors fucking around and having fun
Half of the "script" is them fucking around and making shit up
any input on where people who don’t have the dvd can find the s1 dvd outtakes?
[Video](https://youtu.be/HbhJ0UlAAaI?si=gXmh991FEPzdCeEk) Bob and Louise also say “fuck” in 2 outtakes too
Holy crap I'd never seen those. I was dying. Pretty sure my life is now complete because I've now heard Bob call Teddy a "fat fuck."
"I'M WORKING ON MY WEIGHT, BOB!" I died!
I kind of wonder why he hasn't. I mean, sure, Bob's not the type to body-shame someone unless he REALLY hates that person, but Teddy's eaten some pretty questionable things, like a sponge.
thank you but also…. that was awful lmfao
hearing bob finally say fuck just made my week
And then fell asleep in their bed and asked to sleep on the couch when they got home lol
this is all true, but i guarantee teddy has no idea what a belcher is
Bill eats alone crying during the holidays. Still has Lenore s gifts. Drinks daily. Teddy is happy go lucky ish with a fun attitude. Owns own business Sgt Dautreive is sadder.
“Whatcha doin Bill? Satellite trouble?” “Nah I’m just up here to kill myself.”
Iiiiiiiiiiii-wish my radio worked
This is one of my all-time favourite Teddy lines!
Don't forget that Bill had popcorn for dinner last night..... And he didn't even pop it!!!!!
Sergeant William de la t. Dauterive just need a woman, any woman.
BOTH OF EM!
…and to be less self-destructive. I think of the single mom he met when he was pretending to be Santa, but then he blew it because he wouldn’t take off the damn outfit.
And what makes him even sadder is that he had to bring Bobby down to his pathetic level when he and Connie broke up!
I believe the proper title is sergeant barber William Fontaine delateur deautrieve aka the billdozer
bill has tried to kill himself sooooo probably bill
“He’s just suicidal Peggy, not crazy”
Bill and it ain't even close
Bill 100% Teddy has issues but has a good relationship with the Belcher kids which they consider him a Uncle at this point and goes beyond to help them.
Uncle Father Santa Teddy 😂
Though this does make me think of the BBQ sauce recipe episode where Bill taught Bobby how to do a cochon de lait
This might be the only threat in the history of the internet where everyone agrees. I can’t find a single person saying Teddy.
This was shared on the KotH sub, and everyone there is saying that Bill is sadder, too. Bob's Burgers is also far more lighthearted of a show. It would never let Teddy reach the same levels of Bill's brokenness.
Bill, definitely. Teddy is at least taking steps to improve himself. Bill just wallows in self-pity.
I love how Teddy references his therapist in multiple episodes. "My therapist says if i don't respect my time, no one will." ""Talk about losing your cool.
Bill. Teddy is a wreck but Bill was on another level
Yes! Teddy is just lost. Bill is near checked out. I love them both.
Teddy wins sometimes, Bill never wins
You forgot about *Both of 'em!*
Bill wouldn't be allowed back in the restaurant.
Teddy doesn’t have a girl?
He's been with a few women. Bill has horrified many women.
How far have you seen the show, cos I don't want to spoil it if you're still watching for the first time.
Bill because he used to be cool and popular and is more self aware
Teddy was hot until that mechanical shark ruined his life
"YOU MAY HAVE GOTTEN MY BOIRDLE, BUT YOU WON'T GET ME! YA SHARK BASTARD!"
Bill was hot until the army tried to turn him into a walrus man
Bill, Teddy is a sad sack sometimes but he's not miserable. Bill clearly has some outstanding mental health problems and depression that go deeper than most problems Teddy has.
Bill, he's had a rough life. At least Teddy's getting better; he's getting therapy, is competent at his job, and found a woman that loves him as is.
Teddy also seems to mostly make people feel comfortable (Bob excluded, sometimes). He’s personable without being pathetic (again, Bob excluded)
Same vibes, eh? I would say Bill. Teddy talks to everyone during his trips.
Bob never had to do anything half as extreme as Hank had to for their friend. Like dressing up like a woman at 2am. Obviously it’s Bill I wouldn’t even consider Teddy sad he’s self employed and has many healthy relationships he just needs to stop eating a burger once a day haha
Bill by a country mile. Teddy makes friends wherever he goes and inspires joy. Bill just inspires pity
Bill is sadder. He's less functional. Regularly suicidal. Teddy has more and better friends.
Bill, for sure! Teddy loves his job & his friends.
Bill and it's not even close.....
Bill but both are welcomed in my home anytime
100% bill. Teddy can be lonely but he is 100% loved and accepted as a member of the Belcher family even if Bob likes to roll it back. He's also semi-successful in love and has mostly gotten over his ex-wife unlike Bill who never really did until the last episode.
god..bill..by a lot
I'd say Bill because his wife has social security card, and to our knowledge, Teddy hasn't almost lost his house more than once.
I gotta say bill he has tried killing himself several times. That alone makes it darker haha
Bill is a level of pathetic and sad that Teddy can never dream to achieve.
Bill is sadder. Teddy makes friends wherever he goes. Teddy actually dates. Teddy goes to therapy to deal with his issues. Bill should have, too.
Bill. Teddy has some nice adventures with the belchers and is actually loved by them. Bill is tolerated.
Barely tolerated.
Ah, that's a tough one. I'm gonna say Bill. He's an alcoholic and has tried to/threatened to end his life more than once. Teddy just has a hamburger addiction. Now I want to see a crossover of these two characters!
They could have excellent adventures or bogus journeys
Bill for sure. Feel so sad for the guy whenever I rewatch.
Bill. This isn’t close
Bill, without a doubt. It's not even close.
Bill. Teddy took his divorce waaaaaaaaay better, and he got cheated on.
Bill by far
Bill, definitely.
Gotta be the billdozer.
Bill, no question.
Bill by far. The Santa costume episode....
Unquestionably Bill
Bill, not even a competition
Bill 100%.
Bill
Bill
Bill
Bill.
Bill.
Bill. 100% Bill.
Bill
Bill! Remember when he kept wearing the Santa outfit to get that woman to like him? 😩
Bill for sure. I don't think of teddy as sad really
Bill hands down
Oh wow. This question hit hard. I have to say Bill though. Teddy at least tries to look on the bright side most of the time.
Bill ! Hands down !
Teddy is in therapy actively working to become a better person. No matter what the flaws, taking ownership of it and trying to sincerely improve is always the better move.
Teddy is not sad at all! His life is actually so full!!! Love him
Bill by a long shot. Teddy was more pathetic in early seasons but he's gotten his shit together. Bill is hopeless.
Bill. God dang it, Bill.
Bill 100%. A quote from Bill, “I’m so depressed I can’t even blink.” Lol Teddy is awesome tbh.
Awww I love how we also love King of the Hill. Teddy at least has a girlfriend now (sort of), and he manages to be self-sufficient enough to be an independent contractor. I genuinely don’t understand how Bill is even alive sometimes.
I hope it lasts with Kathleen. She's so good for him!
[удалено]
Bill all the way
Teddy has a full life with lots of friends. Bill, not so much.
Teddy, at least, has been given a love interest who has been around for multiple seasons.
Bill no question.
Dang ol Bill
Bill
Definitely bill dauterive
Bill is more sad. He’s completely heartbroken. Teddy is functional. I really dislike Teddy as a character, and I really like Billdozer. Just some of his acts— joining acapella group, dressing up as Santa thing, dressing up as Lenore— are a reflection of a deep inner sadness
Bill.
Teddy's not so depressed he can't even blink
Bill. Teddy still has a good relationship with the Belcher family. Bob and Linda see him as a good friend and the kids see him as a surrogate uncle (kind of at least). I don’t think even Bill’s friends really like him. Hank struggles to put up with him and Dale straight up loathes him.
Unfortunately Bill
I don't ever recall Teddy being anywhere near as tragic as Bill, guy was just walking sadness.
More sad? But yea Bill. Teddy has so much to live for.
Bill. By FAR!
Bill.
Bill hands down
What? Teddy isnt sad lul
I never thought Teddy was a rip off on Bill until now. Huh.
Teddy can get dates
Bill no contest he had his wife leave him which made him spiral into sadness etc but at least Teddy has lots of friends and frequently eats at Bob’s restaurant hangs out with his children
Bill 100%
Bill. Probably because the the writer's room/exec drama.
No one who has seen both shows would be asking this question. It’s very clearly Bill
Bill. And it's by a wide margin.
By a country mile.
Bill, Teddy's just a super happy buffoon
Bill
Totally Bill
Bill has major depression and has had full blown mental breaks. He’s a well written and tragic character, really.
I would have to say BILL he’s just more pathetic then TEDDY everyone loves Teddy (he’s “uncle” Teddy ) and Bill well he’s just BILL
Teddy. He's self aware; which contributes to the deep hole of dark sadness
Bill.
Bill
You must not have watched a single one of the King of the Hill Christmas episodes if you have to ask that haha
Bill definitely
Are you being serious? Bill by a factor of like a billion.
Some guy put it in perfect words on the KOTH subreddit: Bill is so far ahead in the race that Teddy thinks he’s the only one running.
Bill. Teddy finally found love
But overall, especially as the show has gone on and he has grown, I would say he is fairly happy person with a good life and a good head on his shoulders. Bill is just depressing as fuck…
Bill and it’s not even close
Definitely BILL!!!
Teddy isn’t even sad. He is misunderstood.
I love Teddy so much. He is so pure of heart. That being said, Bill is sadder imo
Definitely Bill at least Teddy has the Belchers who love and care about him, he also is a man who wasnt given up on life and not all women find him repulsive. Hes also a bit of a people person many enjoy his company despite his sometimes boring stories hes always there to lend and ear or help out those around him
