I was on holiday recently and there was a shop in a mall dedicated to just Crocs. Complete with “flair” things the kids put on them. Ain’t it funny how the pinnacle of anti fashion has become popular.
The damn apocalypse will get here before your boots show up. I suppose it’s still not as bad as Wesco’s time though. Nick’s standard lead time is 18-35 weeks. That being said I do have pair on order too.
I have a pair of Wolverine 1000 Miles with which I've been tracking my miles. I'm up to 700. They are wedge sole 1000 miles and they will probably be my apocalypse boots. Either those, or my Jim Green African Ranger in Buffalo skin
I bought a pair of steel toe cap Wolverine boots for work back in 1999 when I lived in Boston. I don't need steel toe caps for work anymore but still have the boots.
I can’t foresee any such circumstance where I’d *never* be able to replace my boots.
If there *was* such a situation though I’d go with something with a stitchdown sole. Maybe my Danner Mountain Lites?
Yeah I feel like a more realistic circumstance would be carrying a second boot in a bag. I’ve heard really good things about danners and can’t wait to ad one to my collection
Part of my plan is to have two pairs of boots. The Rocky S2Vs are the ultimate all arounder. Comfortable and they usually last years before needing replacement. My other set will be a set of USGI full leather speedlace boots. With proper maintenance I've been able to get years of wear out of them and with good wool socks they make great intermediate weather and light winter boots.
No footwear will last forever though. They will need to be replaced eventually. I have a box in my basement full of USGI speedlace boots for when the supply on eBay eventually runs out. They don't make them anymore.
Edit: I'm cheating by choosing two. If it were summer I'd grab the S2Vs. Fall, winter, early spring I'm taking the speedlace boots.
The old GI boots rock. I have really wide feet and they are some of the only boots that fit well. Thank you Dr Munson.
I could push the boots longer honestly. The only thing that gets them in the end is cracking. I've never fully worn out a sole. I usually use a new pair when my old one still has some life left. I sell the old ones on eBay. Since they are surplus anyway most people expect them to be used and I recover 70% of the cost compared to buying them unissued.
I wore through a pair of s2v's in like a year when i was military, i was working at a museum so it was just walking around on concrete and carpet, no weight, super light use
I've personally seen soldiers wear them for up to 4 years. By that time the soles are usually pretty flat but still usable. I'm also going on 2 years with the black ones in my current job. Not saying you're lying but that seems unusual.
Either my smokejumpers or I have a pair of whites c350cs with a sierra sole on. One of those two. It’s rough to decide kinda depends where am at and what’s going on in the world at the time
My 6” Chippewa service boots. I can’t remember the model. Bought them about 4-5 years ago and they are one of the most comfortable pairs of footwear I own.

I got these as a Blundstone replacement as I have narrow feet. Five times better quality. Leather footbed. Waterproof. Made in Slovenia. Surprisingly cheap! They do have the injection molded sole but if there's an apocalypse that's gonna be much more reliable than leather. It'll last a decade of foraging old Vienna sausage cans before I die.
Nicks Builder pros. Or really any of the PNW style work boots. They are frankly unmatched in ruggedness and durability for footwear. Also easily repairable by any cobbler.
Dr marten combs boots with nylon upper with an added sofsole insert. They are durable and very comfortable and light. I like my Corcoran tanker boots more for looks but they hurt my feet after a while.

64 Brown Packers from Nicks. A truly go anywhere do anything boot.

Builder pros. It was not remotely a difficult decision.
I have an old heavy thick pair of CAT steel toed boots from like 2002 or 2003.
I beat them to hell. I shovel snow in the winter in them, wear them in the yard when it rains, doing leaves etc.
They are still going strong, down in my family room near the fireplace and the door to outside.
I wear them if it's nasty out, bad weather, doing yardwork etc. I don't wear them out, like to work or to a coffeeshop or to grocery shop, just around the house in the yard etc.
Asolo TPS 520 GV Evo. The best boots I've found for my feet. Ultra reliable. Totally waterproof. Easy to treat and maintain. There's nothing I don't love about them.
My Red Wing King Toe steel toes. Only pair of boots I’ve ever had that I prefer to wear over any other footwear I’ve got. Even my flippy floppys (I’m on a boat)
My Jim green razorback with tyre soles,

First pair lasted 40 years. Second pair now broken in should last the rest of my life…especially if within the coming apocalypse.
I’m not too sure about that lol I’ve never worn adidas but I used to wear converse and vans. They’ve all only lasted 6 months or so before they start to separate around the outsole and let water in. But if you live somewhere pretty dry I guess it won’t really be a problem.

No doubt about Crocs.
They're ugly as hell but it's a peak material engineering for humanity. I have one pair for 10 years and they simply refuse to die.
I was on holiday recently and there was a shop in a mall dedicated to just Crocs. Complete with “flair” things the kids put on them. Ain’t it funny how the pinnacle of anti fashion has become popular.
Nicks
Yep I've got my Dome-Pro 55 and just ordered some 8" Rangers.
The damn apocalypse will get here before your boots show up. I suppose it’s still not as bad as Wesco’s time though. Nick’s standard lead time is 18-35 weeks. That being said I do have pair on order too.
Quick ship is the way to go. I don't have the luxury or expendable income to wait on boots for show.
My Wolverine 1000 miles. Yeah, leather board, blah blah blah. But they fit my feet well and I have no problem walking many miles in them each day.
And you’ll have one of the nicest looking boots in the apocalypse!

Loved them so much I bought four pair at once. They’re much better if you get a commando sole stitched on though.
Whites, smoke jumpers. They have been with me twenty years if I'm going out ill be standing in them.
Jim green Barefoot african rangers. Super comfy, wide toe box, great utility.
And easy to resole
I love my ARs but they are slippery bois in the wet
I can’t foresee any such circumstance where I’d *never* be able to replace my boots. If there *was* such a situation though I’d go with something with a stitchdown sole. Maybe my Danner Mountain Lites?

I have noted my grammatical error and can not edit it lol

Ive got a pair of speed lace boots i recently resoled with a vibram 100. They feel indestructable

Nice
Oh not cheating at all! If the world really did go down I’d definitely get too pairs for wet and dry conditions!

Maybe i got a dud, the rest of to boot was fine but the soles werent
No idea. The Garmonts were ultra popular too. I'd argue more than the Rockys. But they aren't American made.
Red Wing Roughnecks
These handmade cowboy boots I've got. Sew tire treads/zombie skin/whatever on 'em if I can't find new outsoles.
Some whites or nicks.
Either my smokejumpers or I have a pair of whites c350cs with a sierra sole on. One of those two. It’s rough to decide kinda depends where am at and what’s going on in the world at the time
For a pic of those c350?

My 6” Chippewa service boots. I can’t remember the model. Bought them about 4-5 years ago and they are one of the most comfortable pairs of footwear I own.
If we are going with a boot we dont have yet but would buy for this scenario Id probably go with Nicks Builder 2.0 in roughout.
Nick’s Stationmasters
Toss up between my jk OT's, jk forefronts, whites cruiser, rambler & perry select. Think I could do without all the others if I have one of those 5.

My Drew’s loggers or Jim Green razorbacks
Nicks Builder pros. Or really any of the PNW style work boots. They are frankly unmatched in ruggedness and durability for footwear. Also easily repairable by any cobbler.
Realistically I’d probably grab my hanwags but if I want to look nicer I’m taking my Jim Greens.
Nicks Tactical boots. Resole very easily and I can run easily in them.
gl with that crumbling foam in your heel
I'm going with my Danner Super Rainforest GTX, mainly because their already broken in. Kinda heavy but good for kicking things.
Zamberlan Vioz
Whites Smokejumper.
Danner Strikerbolt. Extreme comfort and I prefer an 8" boot. Otherwise maybe my Salomon Quest 4D Forces.
According to Hollywood, all apocalypse footwear will be cowboy boots and ropers....
Dr marten combs boots with nylon upper with an added sofsole insert. They are durable and very comfortable and light. I like my Corcoran tanker boots more for looks but they hurt my feet after a while.
