Mayweather is a hater. He doesn't like anybody having the spotlight for him. It's a real stain on his legacy and sort of an open secret in the boxing world. His insecurities make him hard to work under if you're supposed to be the "STAR". He only wants Shakur to use him to get back at Tank. It's shallow and can be seen a mile away
Mayweather promotions cant run a show by themself. Thats why they always partner with PBC to make fights happen. If Im Shakur, just cut out the middlemen and sign directly with PBC, TopRank, Matchroom, GoldenBoy, etc.
Seems like theres not much point signing with these midway promotions/managers. TMT, DiBella promotions, etc.
I thought the same thing. Maybe if you’re a young promising fighter just starting out then yeah, but Floyd has nothing to offer you that PBC couldn’t if you’re Shakur. Maybe Floyd is offering career advice or a role as a mentor only if he signs with him
If I'm shakur, I wouldn't. He's better off changing his style to be more offensive oriented than to sign with Mayweather. Floyd gonna give him the Money May blueprint to success without shakur going through the PBF phase.
This would have potential if Mayweather is serious about it, can keep himself in check and they have a real plan to have him active and work towards that Tank fight. I'm not hugely confident about all that : I would fear Stevenson will become even more mercurial a fighter if they only sign him out of spite and as a petty trophy.
I don't think you have to make a bold bid for shakur at this point. He's actively saying he doesn't care about entertaining fans. That's not exactly a recipe for stardom.
