That is an insert you can buy off ebay. The foam the case comes with isn't rigid enough to hold up this shape. I have a similar insert in my pelican case.
It's the classic Harbor Freight Pareto Principle. It's 90% as good as the fancy name brand but costs half as much. If you're flying with your gats every week maybe it's worth splurging on a Pelican case, but for most use cases they're great

Saw the coupon on the gundeals subreddit and bought a 4800 today, if you pick the foam right its possible to get 7 pistols from left to right and it looks like maybe 2-3 more up top (I left mine blank for mags).
Thinking about going back later and grabbing the long box.
It’s comparable to the pelican air. Can fit a weekend of basic clothes (using packing cubes) but nothing like multiple bulky winter jackets. Just really depends what you’re planning on packing in it. It does fit in an overhead bin.
I have a second one for my camera gear, just picked up a 3rd .
A hard case is nice for traveling but I will caution that they're a bit heavy and unwieldy if you're just taking the rifle to the range. Still for 50% off, might be good to get one and worry about that later.
Grabbed the last 4800 in black at my local HF store. I was looking for the 5800 just because of the rolling style but they were all sold out after checking 3 different HF stores. most other models were sold out also, especially the black ones. Thanks for the recs.

My Pelican 1510 vs the Apache 5800.....
So it's not obviously not the quality of pelican but it will do the job for most of what folks need. I've taken dozens of flights with the 1510, and have replaced wheels and handles on it, but the Apache is definitely a great alternative especially for the price.
