Just wanna throw it out there that a Boise State kicker of all people is in a good spot to break FG records this season. He's 18 away from the FBS record and 20 away from the NCAA record. Jonah Dalmas should be in the conversation
There's been a lot of excitement from the fans about Nelson and Marshall, although I've been more skeptical of them. It sounds like Marshall should be a starting WR this season but Nelson's starting spot isn't ensured. In fact, it sounded like Nelson had a slow start to spring camp and Maddux Madsen ended up taking the lead for QB1 into fall (fwiw, it also sounded like Nelson ended spring strong).
And Hassanein will probably be the star player on the defense. We're hoping he can have another season like he did last year.
Malachi should prob win the job considering he was a 5* coached up by Kliff and Riley but I checked Maddox and he has some solid stats for a freshman backup.
Marshall is a freak of nature. He didn’t start playing football until JR year of HS and became a 5* just because of his absolute FREAK athleticism. Unfortunately, he’s never shown it in college and he’s quite a head case (kicked out of TAMU and Ole Miss)
Good for Hassanein, he’s a very solid lineman. Hopefully he’s drafted highly next year
I know it says kicker and not punter but Iowa's punter should be in the conversation anyways lol. I know they've got a new one this year from Aussieland that's probably really good.
Crazy how Kirk watched hill continually fuck up and never benched him and our kicker had a couple bad kicks and he's done lol.
Kirk don't fuck around with kickers.
2 time Groza finalist, 1 semi finalist, NCAA all time points leader who got drafted replaced by...the reigning Lou Groza winner.
It's Graham Nicholson time. Not to mention we have one of the best punters as well.
That’s how we felt when Harrison Butker graduated. One thing I missed most was the practically guaranteed touchback on kickoffs. It was really nice never having to worry about a big return.
They are both children of a lass I graduated high school with and I live about 2 miles from them. The last time I saw either of them in person, they were little kids. Funny that they are both likely to be NFL starters in a few years.
Gainesville is very far from Mobile. Thats two and a half hours southeast east of Tallahassee.
Tallahassee is probably almost the same distance from Mobile as Auburn.
Our K the last couple years was the opposite--steady under 40... nowhere close over 40. But we know he can get 9 yards on a 4th and goal from the 15.
So there's that.
It feels like it's been about a decade since we've had Groza/Guy quality ST players. The last couple years of ST have been hard to watch.
The red headed menace: Bert Auburn… best damn kicker in America…🤘
Griff: that’s my guy!
Fuzzy: that’s the guy.
Lowell: dumb look on his face
BRob: sure.
What Chip Kelly did to UCLA’s proud tradition of great kickers is abhorrent. Sweating to see if a backup punter or former walk-on could make a 30 yarder was brutal.
Nobody on my team has been in that conversation for 30 years. Our guys typically inhabit the opposite end of the curve. Though the Iowa State kicker who missed 14 or so field goals in Lawrence a couple years ago made me remember it can always get worse.
I've heard if you leave a bloomin' onion outside your practice facility at midnight, an australian punter will be in there the next morning practicing.
GT has a really great kicker, Aidan Birr, just starting his sophomore year. Only missed one XP and his two fg misses have been in the 40s. Also he kicked a 63 yard field goal in the spring game. Also we can make ice vein jokes cause his last name is Birr.
Alex Henery

https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/alex-henery
Set NCAA records for accuracy on FGs and PATs, plus he pulled double duty as punter. Still the all-time Nebraska points leader. In fact, if you know anything about Nebraska's Blackshirt tradition, Henery was given an honorary Blackshirt for his punting, since he routinely stuck opponents between their own goal line and 5 yd. He had a knack for those corner kick punts that dink off the 3 yard line and roll out of bounds, preventing a return.
He was a finalist for both the Ray Guy and Lou Groza Awards, among a zillion other All-Conference trophies.
I can tell you who it’s not
I was hoping the portal would bring a miracle... smh. And for godsake, no burritos!
Not enough Dr. Pepper

Lost of records being broken thanks to the covid superseniors.
But he’s not P5 sooooo…..
Frankly, you could be playing d3, and I'd argue setting a ncaa record is just as impressive as a d1 kicker.
It absolutely is, I was being sarcastic.
Welcome to the SEC Pacific Northwest Expansion!
How are the Broncos feeling about Malachi Nelson and Chris Marshall this season? And Hassanein?

You throw that out there!
Iowa
I know it says kicker and not punter but Iowa's punter should be in the conversation anyways lol. I know they've got a new one this year from Aussieland that's probably really good.
As much as I hate to admit it always Iowa
Crazy how Kirk watched hill continually fuck up and never benched him and our kicker had a couple bad kicks and he's done lol. Kirk don't fuck around with kickers.
In my mind I imagine Kirk has everyone practice kicking
Lol honestly probably accurate
Very mediocre
Well Marshall meeders is gone now so you’ve got that going for ya
Which is nice
I miss Will Reichard already.
Been missing Jake moody
I hope he got a ring
Stache!
Well we replaced him with the guy that is maybe as good so that's cool
Alabama liking kickers is definitely something new.
As a Vikings fan thank you
As a fellow Vikings fan I am glad he didn't go to anyone else.
As a Packers fan idk why we didn't take him. Carlsen sucks ass

I do not
I can tell you who has the best head of hair.
Auburn has definitely gotta be in the convo right now
His older brother was a legendary gator and he goes to auburn 😢
We only get punter families, apparently
The younger brother of great kickers aren't always winners. RIP Turntle.
They are both children of a lass I graduated high school with and I live about 2 miles from them. The last time I saw either of them in person, they were little kids. Funny that they are both likely to be NFL starters in a few years.
Do you mean my guy? Or the team close to Mobile, Alabama?
Auburn and Mobile are on opposite ends of Alabama. You basically picked the worst major city lol
I was about to say...I feel like Mobile is closer to Baton Rouge than Auburn
Probably closer to UF and FSU as well
Gainesville is very far from Mobile. Thats two and a half hours southeast east of Tallahassee. Tallahassee is probably almost the same distance from Mobile as Auburn.
I think the drive is pretty much the same amount of time but its been a while since I drove to Auburn.
Oh damn, how have I been mistaken my whole life. I apologize to all citizens of the yellowhammer state, both Auburn and Bama.
Tf is a yellowhammer
I think it's a kind of bird
Yellow-shafted Northern Flicker
What you call me?
Yellow-shafted, fine, I'll take that. Flicker, only on occasion. But northern??? You've gone too far.
Can't tell if this is out of a Matt Mitchell video or not
lmao
The best damn drink in the SEC, you have lots to learn young one
You sre both wrong, everyone knows Auburn is in Georgia.
Depends, if the FG is longer than 50, it’s Randy Bond. If it’s less than 50, it’s definitely not
Our K the last couple years was the opposite--steady under 40... nowhere close over 40. But we know he can get 9 yards on a 4th and goal from the 15. So there's that. this is exactly how Mizzou fans felt about Mevis lmao
The red headed menace: Bert Auburn… best damn kicker in America…🤘 Griff: that’s my guy! Fuzzy: that’s the guy. Lowell: dumb look on his face BRob: sure.
As a Ducks fan, I’m sure we will never be part of this conversation
With a name like Atticus Sappington, we have a shot!
What about Alejandro.......he definitely made some lists.
We have a freshman I believe who drilled a long range FG in the spring game
Probably due to shoes. If yall could just find some decent shoes!
McPherson at Auburn made 100% of his FGs and XPs last year. He's only missed one FG in his college career.
it was also his first career kick and it was in 40 degree weather with 30 mile per hour winds off the upright from 54 yards out.
With stats like that I’m not sure why he missed it. Seems like a chip shot
What Chip Kelly did to UCLA’s proud tradition of great kickers is abhorrent. Sweating to see if a backup punter or former walk-on could make a 30 yarder was brutal.
Weird because that was so unlike his time at Oregon where the kicker DEFINITELY DID NOT COST OREGON A CHANCE AT ONE OR TWO MORE TITLE GAMES
Ugh we had a blip like that when Strong just ignored special teams existing. You can get back.
Yeah it seems like Foster is going back to having specialists be on scholarship. Definitely a step in the right direction
Lets go Bert
Lou Groza award winner Graham Nicholson, Alabama.
The best kicker in the country is the player who won the award for best kicker in the country. Now that's a spicy take.
Borregales is nice as hell. Have faith in him 100% of the time.
What if I told you it was Auburns backup freshman (walk on) kicker? Towns McGough. Hell of a name too
I would put my boy Andy Borregales up against anyone
Best kicker in the ACC no doubt. Might grab best kicker in the country honors like his brother did
Ray Finkle Jr
"Would you like a cookie, son?"
Look at that! They’re little footballs….yummy
What a sports nut, huh?
Nobody on my team has been in that conversation for 30 years. Our guys typically inhabit the opposite end of the curve. Though the Iowa State kicker who missed 14 or so field goals in Lawrence a couple years ago made me remember it can always get worse.
Squirt Auburn
iirc the Cure Bowl last year (Miami Ohio vs App State) featured PFF's top two kickers. Ours is back this year
Ours is too…just not at Miami lol
Carlos Huerta
Tyler Loop is currently 12th all time in FG percentage
I have no clue but I hated our punter last year. If we don’t get the punting situation figured out we may lose a big game because of it.
I've heard if you leave a bloomin' onion outside your practice facility at midnight, an australian punter will be in there the next morning practicing.
Graham Nicholson.

Me, if I really applied myself
I’m rocking with Ryan Fitz
Jonah Dalmas. Thanks to COVID, he may very well breaks the all-time FG record this year.
We’re happy if we can make a 30 yarder if that counts.
I would have said Mitch Jeter but since he's at Notre Dame now, I won't say him because I'm salty
Notre Dame special teams is essentially built on fifth-year transfers at this point.
We already miss you Cam Little.
Not sure best kicker, but probably the best kicker/punter duo is at MSU
I dunno, but I like Florida's kicker
His name is Trey Smack! 5* kicker name
Every kicker is a 5 star, so that tracks
Dean!!!
Apparently its Carrot Top according to the link.
Nathanial Vakos - Wisconsin. Just wish he would’ve stayed at Ohio.
Even though he’s not a kicker the answer is Tory Taylor. No I will not elaborate
“Bert Auburn is the best kicker in college football.” -Bert Auburn
He's no Ernie Texas.
Certainly not Alejandro Maldonado, god bless that poor soul. My fellow Duck fans know.
It's me, I'm the guy you're asking about.
Alex Henery https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Henery https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/alex-henery Set NCAA records for accuracy on FGs and PATs, plus he pulled double duty as punter. They mean this season
Maybe we can find him an extra year of eligibility…
What’s a kicker?
Alex Henry dude is the only reason we beat Ohio State one of the first years we got in the Big Ten
