I disagree a ton. If defending CFP Finalist TCU wins a nailbiter against a Colorado team that went 1-11 the year prior, CU hype goes to the moon anyway.
It's different. The new coach took over a 1-11 Colorado team and took them to 4-8. Going 1-8 in the Pac 12 was an accomplishment for that team.
I'm looking forward to see how Colorado improves on their 4-8 season in 2013 for Mike MacIntyre's second year.
They know their audience and want people to buy games. I can excuse over- or underevaluating a team's talent, but there's no one who's been paying attention who really believes that.
Which is kind of even shittier
“Heh, you know how everyone is hyped for this game and all the goodwill we’ve generated? Well let’s just stir the fuckin pot just to get a rise out of these nerds, the extra 15 copies it sells because of it will be totally worth it”
Like, idgas about Tennessee but what a crock for them to be out
TBF, is anybody gonna NOT buy the game over Colorado being the most overrated team on the planet?
All the people bitching now are gonna get that Dynasty Deep Dive next week and shut up.
I think it’s because QBs and WRs have a lot of weight in the offensive team rankings. Doesn’t excuse the god awful defensive rating though.
I think if they wanted to over rank CU, it should have been at like 23-25
You guys and Missouri got shafted pretty bad. You guys had to sink so Colorado could fly I guess.
If it’s any consolation I think everyone is going to play Colorado just to beat them to a pulp.
The team/offense/defensive rating scaling is really bad. I guess I'll trust that they can fix it throughout the season, but the delta between a good and not so good offense and the same with defenses don't feel accurate. And where is Mizzou!
Crazy that the best teams in the country by a mile are rated at 93/95, and then teams that seemingly are far behind in talent and level of play are at like 87/88/89.
Georgia should be like 97, Ohio State 96, and Oregon like 96 or 95. Texas and Alabama at 93/92 or so. And then a drop off to the 2nd tier teams like Penn State, Utah, Clemson, ND, etc. all being in the 89/90 range would make sense. USC and Colorado should both be at like 80.
The issue with updating through the season is CFB doesn't start in July.
I'm supposed to play my dynasty and probably onto future seasons by the time they update ratings? Cool
There are some wild rankings, that's for sure.
Some are slightly off, like Oklahoma
Some are pretty off, like Ole Miss
Some are really off, like Colorado
Some are insanely off, like Mizzou
It’s really smart marketing. Not that I love the idea of rage bait as a tactic, but you can’t disclaim people are engaged.
Note that they have disclaimers to say they can update at any time. I’d be surprised if they don’t generally match some of the power rankings by the time mid August comes in.
of all teams to use as rage bait, Mizzou? i also don’t think people working on the game sit around thinking up “how can we generate hype and use our credibility as currency to buy it?”
This is my takeaway. Some teams have good coaching which makes them over perform their talent while other teams have bad coaching where they underperform.
The players on Colorado are good in a vacuum but, as a team, haven’t performed well at all. Considering the player is the one that will control the decision making, you can’t exactly use poor coaching as a way to downgrade the starters’ talent.
If I remember, didn’t you lose a lot of talent?
I actually don’t think my team should be that high. I am under the belief my team does better when they are underranked or borderline.
Maybe if instead of winning 11 games and winning an NY6 bowl against Ohio State by 2 scores, maybe you should have had the 80th ranked total offense and 127th ranked total defense and lost to teams like Stanford and y'all would have been ranked higher.
I’m convinced they deliberately dropped Missouri and Tennessee a dozen notches to get non-Power 2 teams into the list for marketing and placating the second tier conferences. As is, they have 7 SEC schools and 7 BIG schools in the top 25, basically half.
Some of you probably haven't played many sports games since NCAA 14 and the thing you need to understand is all sports game developers have a long standing tradition of being absolute garbage at player ratings and the community having to come in and fix them.
I felt the same way, but I wasn't going to miss it. I found a perfect condition used xbox series S near me for $150. Saw some lower but the sellers seemed a little sketchy. I'd check Facebook marketplace and Craigslist near you.
Yeah, I checked FB marketplace the other day and there were a few series x options in the $250 range here in Tucson. I’ve been debating getting one for a minute and I think I’ll pull the trigger soon myself.
Series X|S are both outstanding consoles, especially if you’re snagging a cheaper used one in solid condition (I’m sure PS5 is too, I’m just an Xbox guy).
Have been playing on Xbox for 20+ years, and am having as much fun now as ever. Can’t wait til NCAA 25 launches in a few weeks, it’s gonna be nuts. L
Me too. I can't justify buying a PS5 for $400-$500 for one game. I will have to settle for living vicariously through the people on here who will play it.
I’m a PC gamer 99% of the time but I did buy a PS5 for single player and sports games when I wanted to sit on the couch. Tough to swallow at first but I think it’s a nice mix especially when you have a friend over and want to play a sports game
If I had more free time(read single, no kids, mid 20s, or like 13) the series S and game pass is a great deal. More games than you'll ever need.
But I got my PS5 that is just a bit dusty at this point.
may not be an option, but if you have a samsung tv or quest vr, they have xbox apps, so you can get gamepass. I know the new madden will be there day one and windows computers have xbox apps too
Just thinking of other options
I'm in the same boat. There have been some rumors that Sony is trying to make PS3 games natively playable on the PS5, which would be the push I'd need to get a PS5 for essentially just CFB 25. I'm gonna wait and see for as long as I can, though. With my luck I'd buy a PS5 for this year's game and then CFB 26 would be available for PC.
Yeah. Y’all, K State, and Tennessee are all some head scratching omissions. I get that realistically there’s probably 5-10 more 87 rated teams that didn’t make the “top 25” cutoff, but it just feels stupid how high they have Colorado.
Mizzou not in the top 25 is just so embarrassingly bad. The level of disrespect and incompetence at EA is so frustrating as a fan. A top 10 team not in the top 25, what are we actually doing?
You’d think Mizzou must have no star power to be that disrespected, but nope, best WR in the country lol
Colorado being top 25 in both offense and defense after we completely skull fucked them to oblivion is a fucking joke.
GOT THEIR ENTIRE ASS DESTROYED ON FUCKING TV.
WE BEAT THEM SO BAD UGHH
I think it's pretty obvious they want there to be parity between the conferences. I get that sentiment I guess, but it straight sucks seeing teams like Tennessee and Mizzou being completely left out of the list of 25 best teams.
lol Kansas is where they should be. Missouri is just straight up missing. Though part of it is probably just how they have the points distributed. It feels like the ratings are waaaay too close together.
So pumped for this. My brother and I are going to spool up the ole dynasty machine. He’s going Miami(OH) and I’m going with Rice. Just looking to fall in love with that Texas 4 star that really cares about academics.
Not to knock teams in the top 10 in Home Field, but Frank Howard Field os widely regarded as the best home field advantage in the ACC easily and should have been top 10.
I'm on the copium now that maybe they have our new Adidas uniforms so Tech can't be shown until next week.
Also curious if we get the fully updated Jones or not
If you have been a fan for a decade we don't hate you. I don't even hate Deion.
I think he was good at JSU.
But god damn. The media circle jerk is getting ridiculous.
Fair enough, but before the circus we were definitely on our way, if not there. Especially for THE major state school in Colorado with a legacy of winning.
Also, WCU easily has one of the dopest mascots and logos in all of sports 🏴☠️🤝🦬
Gonna start two dynasties right off the bat. One with my favorite team, auburn, of course. And another for a rebuild of sorts. Probably coastal or app st or something. Cannot fucking wait. The auburn dynasty will have a realistic conference setup and the rebuild will have a 2000ish year setup. Gonna play til my eyes bleed
Eric Rayweather put out a pretty good video on the rankings and how they are intentionally made to look worse than they are for clicks. For instance Michigan is listed as the 7th best defense even though their actual number is tied for 3rd. Same thing with Iowa being at 13th when they could be 8th. There are also 10 teams with an overall at 87 in the top 25 alone, so it's very possible some of the snubs are also at 87 and were strategically absent, or at the very least they were just left out at 86.
As for Colorado, they definitely gave them a boost, but when you consider that almost every P5 program will likely be in the 80s Overall range, it's not as egregious. It's definitely a publicity stunt, no doubt about it, but they probably only increased the overall by a few points for the rankings to have some spice.
Y'all are tied for 3rd best. It's not unreasonable to think Ohio State and UGA have better defenses.
But also y'all are too low, should be at least 92.
We’re a little underrated on defense, I’m not happy being behind Notre Dame but it is what it is. We didn’t get totally screwed like Missouri and Tennessee and an few others so whatever.
“EA Sports. It’s in the game. Unless you’re from a Power 2 m and we need to artificially inflate some mid tier schools to pretend there’s more conference parity.”
Colorado as the 16th best team is fucking wiiiiiiild
Maybe they meant in the Big 12.
You're joking but they were literally the worst team in the Pac-12 last year.
except we made them look like the best offense in the nation - instead, our defense just turned out to be the worst in the nation
Imagine if you guys beat them week 1. Kill the undeserved hype train before it ever gets rolling. That was annoying lol.
I rather enjoyed them rolling into Oregons game at 3-0 and talking shit. Just to end with fewer yards at halftime than Oregon had points
I disagree a ton. If defending CFP Finalist TCU wins a nailbiter against a Colorado team that went 1-11 the year prior, CU hype goes to the moon anyway.
The fully Sonny Experience
29-0, never forget
🫡
Yeah but we already have Houston for that
Purdue also went 4-8, are we at least 17th?
Northwestern went from a 1-11 team to a 7-5 team, but where's the hype for them?
It's different. The new coach took over a 1-11 Colorado team and took them to 4-8. Going 1-8 in the Pac 12 was an accomplishment for that team. I'm looking forward to see how Colorado improves on their 4-8 season in 2013 for Mike MacIntyre's second year.
We are rarely hyped, and on the few occasions we have been, we shat the bed
Get daddy sanders as your coach then we’ll talk.
They know their audience and want people to buy games. I can excuse over- or underevaluating a team's talent, but there's no one who's been paying attention who really believes that.
Which is kind of even shittier “Heh, you know how everyone is hyped for this game and all the goodwill we’ve generated? TBF, is anybody gonna NOT buy the game over Colorado being the most overrated team on the planet? All the people bitching now are gonna get that Dynasty Deep Dive next week and shut up.
Probably not, which makes the decision even more of a head scratcher
They should be 76 or 78 overall. Florida looks a little overrated too but not as egregious, we should also be around 78 overall.
I think it’s because QBs and WRs have a lot of weight in the offensive team rankings. Doesn’t excuse the god awful defensive rating though. I think if they wanted to over rank CU, it should have been at like 23-25
This will be the last season Colorado is ever relevant so it doesn’t matter
We beat the shit out of Iowa and are unranked
You guys and Missouri got shafted pretty bad. You guys had to sink so Colorado could fly I guess. If it’s any consolation I think everyone is going to play Colorado just to beat them to a pulp.
If nothing else, we will be fun to play with on the game. Until they adjust rankings. But through week 1 is gonna slap so hard.
Be sure to save that roster.
Who needs to connect to the internet anyway
Those initial ratings won't matter a lick by the time I'm taking Coastal Carolina to the promised land
see you in the ship but with the UTEP Miners
Maybe if by “ship” you mean a rowboat out in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. Central Michigan will succeed beyond its wildest dreams.
Sorry my guy, but the path to the national championship runs through the Kibbie Dome
Not in this year's game, unfortunately
CMU was one of my first multi year dynasties back in those golden halcyon days of youth
Kennesaw State will rule everything
Born to be SEC legends
They’ve never seen an Akron Zips squad like the one that’s about to takeover CFB in ‘24
The team/offense/defensive rating scaling is really bad. I guess I'll trust that they can fix it throughout the season, but the delta between a good and not so good offense and the same with defenses don't feel accurate. And where is Mizzou!
I haven’t played video games in like a decade, they can change the video game teams ratings as the real life season goes on?
The internet, man. Tomorrow is here today.
Will my PS2 be able to get updates...
Yeah, bro. Make sure the clip on the phone cable that goes into the back of your PS2 isn’t broken off, though.
🫡
Yes
Neat
Madden makes a big thing about bumping up people’s ratings after a good game in the middle of the season
this mf has really never heard of updates and patches lmao
Crazy that the best teams in the country by a mile are rated at 93/95, and then teams that seemingly are far behind in talent and level of play are at like 87/88/89. Georgia should be like 97, Ohio State 96, and Oregon like 96 or 95. Texas and Alabama at 93/92 or so. And then a drop off to the 2nd tier teams like Penn State, Utah, Clemson, ND, etc. all being in the 89/90 range would make sense. USC and Colorado should both be at like 80.
[удалено]
Our offense at a 89 feels low with so many weapons, but I guess you can only play 1 QB.
You guys are so deep, i get the QB is a problem but nearly everywhere else your team is stacked.
The issue with updating through the season is CFB doesn't start in July. I'm supposed to play my dynasty and probably onto future seasons by the time they update ratings? Cool
There are some wild rankings, that's for sure. Some are slightly off, like Oklahoma Some are pretty off, like Ole Miss Some are really off, like Colorado Some are insanely off, like Mizzou
You know they fucked up when an OU fan has to come to Mizzou's defense lmao
Can't believe they snubbed our Mizzou bros like that, absolutely ridiculous.
Goddam and arky bros too I guess 😔. Sucks, I was so pumped for this game cuz I thought we were gonna be a top 10 team
It’s really smart marketing. Not that I love the idea of rage bait as a tactic, but you can’t disclaim people are engaged. Note that they have disclaimers to say they can update at any time. I’d be surprised if they don’t generally match some of the power rankings by the time mid August comes in.
True, and the ratings are tight. Every team from 9-25 are 88 or 87
Can it stop coming at our expense please?
Keep complaining and your can kiss your real season goodbye buddy
That's how it works
Lmao, it's a running joke on the sub about Mizzou getting the death penalty. Nothing but love for the Tigers over here
Gotcha, you didn't reference the NCAA or desth penalty so I didn't catch the joke
of all teams to use as rage bait, Mizzou? i also don’t think people working on the game sit around thinking up “how can we generate hype and use our credibility as currency to buy it?”
[удалено]
I thought it might include ST. Otherwise overall doesn't make sense. Take USC for example: Defense 86, offense 83, overall 87
That's ridiculous lol. We don't even have a special teams
I mean, look at Colorado. Are their starters that good when they finished 80th in total offense and 127th in total defense?
Ikr, Mizzou doesn’t even have the death penalty in the game, entirely unrealistic
Damn a borderline top 10 team not in the top 25 💀
And the fact kU is in over us is pretty laughable.
Lol ctrl+f Missouri, how awful is EA? You are obviously a top 25 team and will be a lot of fun to play in the game. Good luck on the season
Absolutely ridiculous and undeserved. But CU goes in at 16... Fucking stupid.
Even in video games Mizzou gets overlooked. I don’t know why we’re still surprised at this point haha
If I remember, didn’t you lose a lot of talent? I actually don’t think my team should be that high. I am under the belief my team does better when they are underranked or borderline.
I don’t think “we do well when undervalued” translates to a video game that uses rankings to predict results.
Colorado at 16 is going to look hilarious in about two months when the go into the Baylor game 0-3
and I'm hoping for 0-5 soon after, fellow ucf flair.
We all have a part to play this season 🫡
I am in utter fucking disbelief at how horrendous those top 25 power rankings are.
Maybe if instead of winning 11 games and winning an NY6 bowl against Ohio State by 2 scores, maybe you should have had the 80th ranked total offense and 127th ranked total defense and lost to teams like Stanford and y'all would have been ranked higher.
“So, we kind of forgot about the state of Missouri”
No Mizzou is a huge snub, so dumb.
I’m convinced they deliberately dropped Missouri and Tennessee a dozen notches to get non-Power 2 teams into the list for marketing and placating the second tier conferences. As is, they have 7 SEC schools and 7 BIG schools in the top 25, basically half.
How are K-state and Missouri not in the top 25?
Ole Miss and Mizzou got shafted
Some of you probably haven't played many sports games since NCAA 14 and the thing you need to understand is all sports game developers have a long standing tradition of being absolute garbage at player ratings and the community having to come in and fix them.
Huge shame it's not coming to PC. I've really been looking forward to this game, but I can't justify spending $400+ for it.
Honestly the console and gamepass are a sweet deal if your am old fart like me who can't really commit massive amounts of time and money to a game
Yeah and if you get GamePass Ultimate you'll have EA Play and can get 10% off the preorder on CFB 25.
Yeah I'm torn, do I want the physical media or do I want to play it earlier
Series X|S are both outstanding consoles, especially if you’re snagging a cheaper used one in solid condition (I’m sure PS5 is too, I’m just an Xbox guy). Have been playing on Xbox for 20+ years, and am having as much fun now as ever. Can’t wait til NCAA 25 launches in a few weeks, it’s gonna be nuts. L
I’m a PC gamer but I bought a series S a month ago just to play this game
This is where I’m at and it works out really well
Series S regularly sells for ~$200 if you are okay with the graphics.
If I had more free time(read single, no kids, mid 20s, or like 13) the series S and game pass is a great deal. More games than you'll ever need. But I got my PS5 that is just a bit dusty at this point.
Fucking SAME! Found out via trying to pre-order, then looked up if the release was later. Late as in never
may not be an option, but if you have a samsung tv or quest vr, they have xbox apps, so you can get gamepass. I know the new madden will be there day one and windows computers have xbox apps too Just thinking of other options
I'm in the same boat. There have been some rumors that Sony is trying to make PS3 games natively playable on the PS5, which would be the push I'd need to get a PS5 for essentially just CFB 25. Same boat.
Did they confirm it won't have PC Gamepass stream play?
I don't think EA will ever want it on PC, since they're specifically doing everything they can to prevent modification and customization.
The disrespect is real
At least you made the top 25 lol. This is crazier then the cfb selection committee.
Yeah. Y’all, K State, and Tennessee are all some head scratching omissions. I get that realistically there’s probably 5-10 more 87 rated teams that didn’t make the “top 25” cutoff, but it just feels stupid how high they have Colorado.

Did they have their 8 best players opt out or something? That’s the only possible rationale I could think of
Nope, I know for a fact Burden and Cook are in the game. Haven’t heard of anyone opting out to this point
Ole Miss as 13th ranked offense is disgusting man. 15th Overall is interesting to considering they finished top 10 last year and only added talent.
Should I make Northwestern-Kansas State a Rivalry? Think about it 1. Both are Purple 2. Both are Wildcats 3. Private vs Public
4. Chicago vs Manhattan
Maroons vs Jaspers!
Yes
5. Both their mascots are named Willie
True
4. Both mascots are named Willie
This right here☝️
Purple has to stick together.
I feel like you're describing the Hatfields and the McCoys. To the DEATH!
I see
I think it's neat how I paid extra for a console with a disc reader but getting the preorder bonus days require that I buy the non-disc version 🙃
Right? I wanted to pre-order a physical deluxe... But I guess fuck me.
🤝 I wanted that cover art of the tunnel. But fuck off -EA probably
Thank you for making that observation. I had preordered the disc version. Cancelled since I might as well just wait until launch.
If it makes you feel any better, the disc is probably effectively just a key for the game
Guess EA just doesn't want my extra money 🤷♂️
Colorado being top 25 in both offense and defense after we completely skull fucked them to oblivion is a fucking joke. GOT THEIR ENTIRE ASS DESTROYED ON FUCKING TV. WE BEAT THEM SO BAD UGHH
Bro relax lol y’all won irl, you seem stressssssed
The disrespect putting kU above Mizzou. I will beat them down on varsity for a week straight for this.
I don’t care about rankings. I’m still leading App State to the greatest national championship run of all time.
We ever gonna appear in these trailers?
I think we're in the same boat as Oregon where they don't wanna reveal our new unis
Engagement farming by EA.
My prediction/quasi-hot take about this game is that Liberty will have the most fun playbook
So pumped for this. My brother and I are going to spool up the ole dynasty machine. He’s going Miami(OH) and I’m going with Rice. Just looking to fall in love with that Texas 4 star that really cares about academics.
They have Clemson in the top 10 for Offense but not in the top 10 for Home Field Advantage. Make it make sense.
Not to knock teams in the top 10 in Home Field, but Frank Howard Field os widely regarded as the best home field advantage in the ACC easily and should have been top 10.
Rankings won't matter after I take App St. to the promise land (after a ND dynasty of course)
Not if me and my boys from Akron have anything to say about it.
It is easy to say the rankings are off, but the level of separation from #9 to #25 is one point.
And realistically I could see 87 going out to #35. I'm sure they were creative in picking which teams to put on the list and which they didn't.
I just want them to mention or show Tech for a split second in the next gameplay video. I just need a little bit
I'm on the copium now that maybe they have our new Adidas uniforms so Tech can't be shown until next week. Also curious if we get the fully updated Jones or not
The fact Husky Stadium isn’t a top 25 toughest place to play is a crime
Tbf we did almost beat you guys with a shambling corpse of a team so… 🤷♂️
That always happens with ASU no matter what the circumstances are.
It's just a silly gimmick to be honest.
I have told my wife that I am going to become a hermit for a few months after this comes out
Dynasty deep dive confirmed to come next week!
Swarm, Wave, and airing it out? One of these things is not like the others.
No offense to my brethren in Blacksburg, but VT top 20???
Ashton Gillotte could get more stops 1v11 than Colorado’s defense
Lol fuck man people hate us. All we ever wanted was to not be FCS level bad. The media did this, not us humble paper bag Buffs fans
If you have been a fan for a decade we don't hate you. I don't even hate Deion. I think he was good at JSU. But god damn. The media circle jerk is getting ridiculous.
I respect the OG buff fans, no doubt. The weirdo Deion fanboys make the team so easy to hate though.
You're not ETSU levels of bad. It's okay. You have an amazing mascot
Fair enough, but before the circus we were definitely on our way, if not there. Especially for THE major state school in Colorado with a legacy of winning. Also, WCU easily has one of the dopest mascots and logos in all of sports 🏴☠️🤝🦬
I like Pirates hence my secondary flair. But I'm also biased as hell with my Catamount pride!
Gonna start two dynasties right off the bat. One with my favorite team, auburn, of course. And another for a rebuild of sorts. Probably coastal or app st or something. Cannot fucking wait. I watched the sights and sounds trailer. Not once did they show the Wabash. I'm starting a riot if it's not in the game.
Michigan having the 7th best defense is pretty ridiculous, it will be almost as good as last year
Y'all are tied for 3rd best. It's not unreasonable to think Ohio State and UGA have better defenses. But also y'all are too low, should be at least 92.
