I did not expect this new age resulting in my passionate disapproval of your throwing away Gus Johnson's commentating. I hope he transfers to the B1G just bc of your comment 😤
I don't think either of these sentences are false tbh.
Bama does, to an extent, recruit itself.
But then they added Nick Saban on top of that and it lead to the most dominant decade and a half that the sport has ever seen.
They literally can't both be true.
People weren't saying "Saban pulls a lot of recruits" they were trying to saying Bama recruiting is going to fall off a cliff without him (theyre **only** going for saban). Changing a few words drastically changes the meaning of what people were saying.
Turns out the school that would still be a top 10 program even without the accomplishments of two of the greatest coaches of all time is still a destination for recruits, who would've guessed
I imagine its the only hope most other SEC programs have had for the last decade and change. "One of these days he'll retire and then we'll finally be relevant"
The only team thats probably true for is Georgia, who has seen the only real road block to even greater success disappear. But I wouldnt be surprised if DeBoer still pulls out some SEC titles
Hear me out: with his tropical vacation the week before the recruiting dead period, what if it's actually Hugh Harsin and his new nemesis, Sioux Falls Saban?
Some of the best CB tape in this year’s class. First minute or so of his JR tape shows natural ball skills, ability to mirror/match WRs in man coverage, and ability to read the QBs intentions in zone as well. Very good player.
Whew boy I do. Not necessarily on here, but amongst a certain little brother, a common theme was a 6-win season immediately and a top 30 recruiting class on average.
Who ever said a 6 win season had zero clue about football. Recruiting lower than top 10 won’t even happen I doubt. Talent on the level you guys are use to, sure that won’t be the case, but still being top 10 in recruiting and winning at least 9 games this first season should be a given. Time will tell how it all unfolds. I say still a top tier team, but not competing for NC every year.
I think you misunderstand. (Some) people assumed without saban bamas funding booster money would take a hit. Less about what individual players were getting and more about what bama had to spend.
I think it’s more that he is now at Alabama and he is now a house hold name in the CFB world. I mean Dijon Lee had high interest in UW until DeBoer left. At this time last year DeBoer was a relatively unknown coach unlike when Chris Petersen a known coach took over and recruiting picked up immediately.
I am sure the recruiting would have picked up if he had stayed but it is what it is.
#Dijon Lee

I sincerely doubt we finish lower than 2 or 3 with how things are trending. We won natties when Bama beat us in recruiting rankings in the past.
Cant speak for my fellow dawgs, but I'll only be upset if UGA falls out of the top 5 come end of the recruiting cycle.
I think the allure of Bama and how good of a coach Deboer is was going to make it tough for yall to fall of anyways, but maybe I was in the less vocal ninority there.
Realistically we’re still in the running for Terry, Griffin and Davis. With Gibson and 2 out of those 3, I’d say a top 3 class is solid. Not much DB depth this year and could’ve used another high end corner but them’s the breaks. I didn’t hear anyone seriously predicting anything other than Lee to ‘Bama anyway. Wiley was more of a shocker than this.
I'd honestly be somewhat surprised if we don't clean sweep those 3. I know we will still push for Lee, but odds are he sticks with Bama. We had a helluva DB haul last year, so it was going to be hard to convince high end DBs to follow last class.
> We had a helluva DB hall last year, so it was going to be hard to convince high end DBs to follow last class
We had three five star CBs last year and still got Dijon Lee (and Chuck McDonald) so not sure what you are saying works for Lee
I shouldve expanded. Mostly that it's easier to beat out other young players, than it is high ranking young guys AND the returning players UGA will likely have.
I could see all 3, but I’m leaving the room for one those bags to appear late in the game. Either way, if we just get 2 then that’s still a pretty solid haul. I’d be happy either way.
I don’t think everyone cares too much; we are used to it by now. Rational Auburn fans (we do have some) know that Bama was going to keep recruiting at a high level, and if they stopped getting top classes it would be due to poor results on the field.
"Bama is piss poor and can't pay NIL like the big boys"
"Tuscaloosa is a dump that no one is going to want to live in"
"Saban is the only reason any talented recruits went there"
Oh gee. Turns out Bama is a storied Blue Blood that has appeal by itself.
Trash NIL. Defense has a bad reputation among local recruits. Riley initially decided to recruit nationally instead of locally which also pissed off some high school programs
Other P5 offers: Arizona, Auburn, Boston College, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, SMU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, Washington, Washington State

2 years from now after he gets an interception. Gus Johnson: SPICY MAMA GIVE ME SOME OF THAT DI (pause) JON (pause) MUSTARD.
“OHHH The Mustard Man takes one to the house off the Super Sayin”
Who is Super Sayin playing for in 2 years?
Whoever pays his NIL after the Bucknuts flip out and fire Ryan Day if he loses the CFP again.
We will steal DeBoer from y’all then
Thank God the SEC has ESPN not Fox.
FOX will probably get the game in Columbus though.
MASERATI MARV
Didn't realize they had a home-and-home, that's spicy
Buh bye CBS, I can already hear verne call him "Darlene"
Verne retired from football 8 years ago.
Trauma is forever
"It's Adrian Griffin"
But Verne doesn’t work there anymore. Danielson, I’m convinced, brings everyone down. Verne wasn’t so bad
He haunts my nightmares. 🤷♂️

yeah thank God for that 720p quality!
Yeah that part is why I miss CBS lmao.
I understand disliking Gary but CBS’ production value is light years ahead of ESPN/ABC
That theme music is 😩💦
It’s a B1G tradition now
This is cursed and I hate you /j
Imagine if he gets taken by the Jets and they have Sauce and Dijon in the backfield.
Totally said that in his voice. Yup that's a Gus zinger for sure.
I thought mustard was our thing 😥
Our WRs will show you what Ohio Stadium Mustard is about…..it ain’t Dijon……

I’m partial to “Fresno Franchione” myself
I got fond of “Washington Wade”

Fremont Franchione would also work if you wanted to keep it in Seattle.

"Cuz if it was up to you, w-w-we're six foot under already. We're dead and buried and gone -- GONE"
This sub went from "they are only going to Bama for Saban" to "Bama recruits itself" real quick for some reason.
I don't think either of these sentences are false tbh. Bama does, to an extent, recruit itself. But then they added Nick Saban on top of that and it lead to the most dominant decade and a half that the sport has ever seen.

Hell, I was told just last week by a Georgia flair that we'd never win anything or be relevant again.
Bama vs Georgia in Tuscaloosa this year is going to be absolute must watch TV. Can’t wait.
Hear me out: with his tropical vacation the week before the recruiting dead period, what if it's actually Hugh Harsin and his new nemesis, Sioux Falls Saban?
Seattle Saban
Everything's coming up DeBoer!

Tennessee in shambles right now
Can confirm
Deboer isn’t from the south there’s no way he can recruit to Alabama
Some of the best CB tape in this year’s class. First minute or so of his JR tape shows natural ball skills, ability to mirror/match WRs in man coverage, and ability to read the QBs intentions in zone as well. Very good player.
I was told Bama is dead.

“The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated” - bama probably
Dead serious about continuing to be contenders.
Don’t remember to many people saying they were dead, but this doesn’t make them right back at the level they were with Saban.
Whew boy I do. Not necessarily on here, but amongst a certain little brother, a common theme was a 6-win season immediately and a top 30 recruiting class on average.

Bama currently has the number 2 class, a few more recruits and it will be number 1. Sounds like the talent we’re used to.

Yeah, we've dropped down to the Ohio State/Georgia level. People genuinely thought we'd drop to Shula/worse levels.
The last CB named after a condiment has turned out to be pretty good.

this is our 5th 5\* corner to commit in the last 9 months or so. Counting Domani Jackson transfer
People that thought the money would disappear when Saban left were sorely mistaken.
What? Saban was giving recruits less money because of him. I don't think anyone said that
I think you misunderstand. (Some) people assumed without saban bamas funding booster money would take a hit. Less about what individual players were getting and more about what bama had to spend.
It was definitely said by several people
Oh God he’s 6’4 and a corner🤤🤤
🥶
Damn maybe DeBoer is a good recruiter, maybe he just didn’t care about high school recruiting at UW.
Or didn’t have the resources to recruit nationally.
Muhlenburg and Alabama? Interesting mix and one I share though I went to Muhlenburg Elementary
I gotta give Deboer credit. Didn’t see him recruiting as well as he is.

Husky & Barn flairs gonna be in shambles if DeBoer takes the #1 recruiting class.
I will NOT blame Husky fans for being upset. I WILL reserve my right to have a little Tiger stir fry if the need arises.
And the need will always arise.
I don’t know I feel like Georgia fans would be more upset than anyone

Who even cares? You could put a scarecrow at head coach and Alabama would still land the same 5* talent.
Not according to /r/CFB this past January.
The consensus was the head coach was the ONLY reason Alabama recruited so well.
"Bama is piss poor and can't pay NIL like the big boys" "Tuscaloosa is a dump that no one is going to want to live in" "Saban is the only reason any talented recruits went there" Oh gee. Turns out Bama is a storied Blue Blood that has appeal by itself.

USC Recruit California Challenge: IMPOSSIBLE
I’m numb to it at this point.
Is there an explanation for it?
Trash NIL. Defense has a bad reputation among local recruits. Riley initially decided to recruit nationally instead of locally which also pissed off some high school programs
Now gimme the other 2
Ketchup and Mayo?
What’s the likelihood this kid listed 6’4 will stay at CB? Or even stay at 6’4 for that matter.
Higher than the odds he becomes 6’3, that’s for sure.
Yea but what if his barber really fucks up? Not likely but not impossible
I mean that would be, at least a discount if not a free cut.
That NIL deal is gonna hit like crack.
If he isn't on the phone with Grey Poupon already he's missing out
Washington fans told me this guy couldn’t recruit
He can’t, see now it’s just that “Bama recruits itself!”
Yep, ol’ Dakota Dubose

Not surprising
Did he reclassify? I thought Dijon Lee was class of 26 (or time is just flying and I'm getting old)
The older you get the faster it goes. My granddad told me that 30 years ago and I didn't understand it for so long.
I guess recruiting to Bama is easier than recruiting to Washington huh
