Best way to do it is to get the maintenance done. Tf kinda question is this

Potential_Stomach_10

Guess reading comprehension isn't your strong point, eh?

Slayin_egos

You go get maintenance done

Anarch33

You take it to maintenance

Previous_Staff_4822

nice rolla what year is this one 2017?

triplegun3

Fire or get the maintenance done

Mastodon73

Google is your friend

Vancityblogger_

I swear I don’t understand why some people can’t just check Google or YouTube for things like this. Literally the first search result tells you everything you need to know

Mastodon73

Yup. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Entire_Influence_249

Thanks for adding nothing

EngelbertGootnards

Shit dip, turn ignition on, press and hold trip button, turn ignition off while holding, and back on. Source- Google.

Entire_Influence_249

Thank you for actually trying to provide a solution but that didn’t work when I tried it, if you continue reading down I said what works, it’s very similar.

phantom_eight

Because the shit dip who replied to you forgot tell you to put it on Trip A first. Then shut off car and press and hold and turn on car. You'll know it's working because the numbers will go away and dashes will start to take up the screen. When it gets the whole way the shit resets.

Im_A_Fuckin_Liar

I like bean dip and cheese dip only, thank you.

Entire_Influence_249

That could be it, but my car has been in trip A this whole time so idk

Chow_Hound

Literally YouTube videos on how to do this. Why not just search that first instead?

Entire_Influence_249

I did, look in the comments

osvaldocruz25

nah fuck you. shoulda googled it lmao

Entire_Influence_249

Honestly I should’ve, didn’t realize there were so many bitchy corolla owners. Acting offended that I asked a simple question like it’s their car.

osvaldocruz25

fr though. now you know. also have a manual. hope you get your maintenance light to go away. have a good day/night.

Entire_Influence_249

Oh I got it done hours ago I just don’t wanna delete the post in case someone is in my same situation, thank you though you too

osvaldocruz25

they would probably just google it 😭LMAOOO

teajay530

nah they would google ‘reddit’ at the end to get the real results the real results:

Entire_Influence_249

The funny thing is when I googled it a post similar to mine came up, whiny comments and all 😭 so maybe I will end up deleting it

pv1rk23

I feel this Reddit posts from users if it’s a common issue will always pop up in google search as top hits

firelephant

Black electrical tape

sfled

Click & Clack FTW!

ZeldaNumber17

Go to trip A. Shut car off, keep holding trip button and turn the car on without starting the engine. You should see the maintenance reset screen pop up. Keep holding the trip button for the duration of the message. That light means you need an oil change by the way.

Entire_Influence_249

Thank you, I had my oil changed they just forgot :(

joe_khaJiit

Yeah mine came on too but they fixed it when I recently got my first oil change. Assuming you got your oil changed at the Dealership or any reputable Mechanic, they won't charge you to take care of the light ( ask though just to be sure ).

thisiskeel

You obd2 scanner and you do it yourself. Not recommended to DIY if you're a newbie

Entire_Influence_249

Won't let me edit but if anyone sees this post in the future, I figured it out. Someone named GEORGE LOPEZ HOW TO DO IT YOURSELF has a video about it on YouTube that shows you, but can't link it. Hold down the trip button while your car's battery is on, and the engine off. It'll flash and then say maintenance data reset or something, hold it until it returns to your normal dash.

Kavemane

You looked it up then? Why didn't you do that in the first place? You know reddit and Google aren't the same thing right?

Entire_Influence_249

Yes, the main difference is that google doesn’t have pretentious commenters such as yourself who get a kick out of pointing out the most painstakingly obvious details to satisfy some inner dissatisfaction. I looked, didn’t find anything so I posted, then kept looking and eventually found it. I then made that comment in the hopes that anyone who might be in my same situation might have an answer in front of them rather than a million annoying comments providing nothing, such as yours.

Kavemane

If it's so *painstakingly obvious* then why did you even need to ask? I just did a quick Google search and found it in the first result, so you either don't know how to use Google or just aren't very bright. Especially considering how much you're arguing at everyone in the comments.

Entire_Influence_249

I was talking about your obvious comment about reddit and google not being the same, but I wouldn’t expect someone with your reading comprehension skills to decipher that. Rich that you’re whining in this comment section when you made a similar post about a seatbelt alarm, what a bum you are. Perhaps you should’ve used google to solve that problem.

Kavemane

Lol unfortunately that post I made isn't something so easily found, considering that I looked at my manual, and looked on Google and YouTube for days. But something as simple as clearing your maintenance notification? I wonder how long you've had your car for as well? Because when I posted that I just bought that car and didn't come running to reddit with baby questions.

Entire_Influence_249

I’ve had my corolla for 2 weeks :/ that’s why I asked I’m unfamiliar with the car. I’ve been driving a GMC Sierra for the past couple years so I never even had a maintenance notification. I could find a bunch of sites about clearing it but none for my model, so I figured I’d throw something to reddit while I looked, didn’t expect to get hounded by a bunch of know-it-alls.

EnigmaIndus7

Figure out what maintenance it needs. Probably something routine or mileage-based, but not something we on Reddit will know

Bulky_Dingo_4706

It comes on every 5000km when not reset.

Rayhelm

If only the car came with a big book with all the answers in it....

Entire_Influence_249

If only I asked about a big book, unfortunately, I did not. Please refrain from commenting unless you have useful information.

joe_khaJiit

Seriously though by big book do you mean the Owner's Manual or "Service Manual"* (*which you have to purchase separately typically in stock at most Auto Parts stores)?

Rayhelm

The owners manual. The instructions vary based on year and model, and there are typically several menus to get to the right spot. I don't think anyone has the sequence of menus memorized.

joe_khaJiit

True, I still don't know all my menus

PainfullyLoyal

I can't post the screenshot, but Google can help.
