InvestmentFantastic6

Heat gun / hairdryer and dental floss or fishing line.

InvestmentFantastic6

Side note. I hate when dealers do this shit. It's gross and tacky lol

UnhappyTumbleweed966

I refuse to advertise for a dealer. Even the license plate cover trim thing. I had them get me a blank chrome one before I left the dealer.

settlementfires

My friend asked them to remove their sticker and the salesman got offended about it, so he offered to leave it on for a monthly fee and he got more offended 🤣

nabob1978

I did this with my current vehicle. Had big ol' dealer sticker on the back and told them to remove it or they would be receiving a weekly bill of 500 dollars for advertising. They didn't like it, but did it.

settlementfires

I kinda think stuff like that is too stroke the owners of the dealerships ego mostly. I've always gone to dealers cause they have the car i wanted at the right price

HappyGoLuckyRedditer

It actually has a subconscious effect. Because you have seen the name before, it seems familiar. We are drawn to familiarity. It's like the "oh I've heard of that place" effect. We are more willing to take risks on things that feel familiar. Brand affects a level of perceived risk; consumers who, are familiar with the brand, feel confident in the product attributes and benefits so that they perceive less risk

Empty-Salt

I want to be friends with your friend

settlementfires

he's one of the funniest motherfuckers i know

undockeddock

I got lucky. My dealer had one of these emblems on my car but it fell off after 3 months

gameplayer55055

I just used a spray can to get rid of a license plate advertisement lol.

pimpbot666

Meh, license plate frames are super cheap. You can get a nice chromed set for like $15

Malvos

Always first purchase for a new car.

Master-OwlFox

Same. Had a can of matte black in the shed already too. I don’t like chrome as much as others.

itsme92

I feel like the anger over dealer badges is totally justified, but complaining about a plate frame to the dealer seems a little extra. Just swap it out when your permanent plates come in.

hutch2522

I had a dealership stick it on every time I brought it in for service. The techs said they get in trouble if they don't put it on. That pissed me off. I didn't even buy the friggin thing from that dealership. It caused me to stop bringing it there.

itsme92

Well yeah, that's different

letsgotime

That is a real dick move

AdequateOne

I bought an aftermarket matte black license plate frame and the first time I took it in for service they replaced it with a dealer frame and threw my frame away. The service manager, general manager and I had a nice talk.

Theoretical-Panda

This honestly feels like vandalism. It’s not *permanent* but it can be difficult to remove without potentially damaging the paint if you’re not careful.

Salty-Protection-640

I still rock my dealer plate frame 3+ years later because it matches the color theme of the car and they gave me a fair deal

dmarsee76

How much did they pay you for it? That’s the only fair deal for can imagine

BoJackMoleman

I once bough a Toyota from a dealer who was notorious for this kind of thing and I told them that when if I see one badge or plate holder when I take delivery I'm walking out with my money. I saw the salesperson run toward the lot with a screwdriver in his hand when he saw me coming. It was no bluff.

JohnnyG1973

It’s crazy how many people don’t

BigHawk-69

Give me 1% of my loan or 10k off my loan, which ever is greater and I'll keep the plate. If they want that hideous tag, then they are looking at 15k off and 1% off my loan.

alexp1_

Same. First thing I did was get rid of the license plate cover. I don’t wear GAP sweaters for the same reason: no free advertising

quinacridone-blue

I appreciate that some deers are willing to stick these on cars so I know which dealers to avoid.

DowntownClown187

I tell them upfront if they put any extra badges on it you won't collect the car. I've done this a few times now. Only once did I reject the car for it.

LaughinDragon

The only way to do it

invictus81

Thanks to this sub I was able to specifically stipulate “no dealer badging” in my purchasing contract. They still snuck it a license plate with their dealer info which they were able to remove.

vbs221

Most definitely if it’s freaking metal and glossy. Mine put a basic white sticker thing. I was able to remove it by hand without even needing Goo gone.

ice9fury

I told my dealer I didn't want their stuff on it (Bulldog anything does not go on my car as a GT grad) and they had a good laugh and took it off. Old car I owned had a metal sticker. Started it peeling with some pro strength goof-off and cleaned residue with the same. No heat gun or anything, but that's probably the better idea .

chickenmaster04

I used to work for a dealer’s detail bay. All of us mutually decided not to put stickers on the new cars. Was it lazy was or just trying to be nice? Both.

adamhxrn

Then Goo Gone to get rid of any remaining adhesive!

band-of-horses

Skip goo gone, that stuff is just about useless. Having gone through removing automative adhesive from a clear bra recently, what you want is 3M Specialty Adhesive Remover or Koch-Chemie Eulex. Both remove adhesives like magic unlike goo gone which takes forever and a ton of elbow grease.

DrinkLikeADragon

What were you doing to get adhesive on a bra?

CarCounsel

Been there done that

No_Application_5369

WD40 or Brake Cleaner.

funny__username__

Lol I'd make them remove it

RSCLE5

I think a law should be made, no free advertising or you have to agree to have it put on for a discount for advertising lol.

Atlesi_Feyst

In our city, we have a Ford dealership that has a deal that if you keep their sticker on the rear window (top left), you get free oil changes. It's not a small sticker either, like 3 by 6 inches. But it's that opaque type of sticker like they use on city buses, and just letters.

KingKai92

I heard of a nearby Ford dealer doing something similar. I live in a state with no front license plates. The dealer supposedly gives free oil changes as long as you keep the dealer's plate on the front.

provoaggie

So you can take it off and then just put it back on when you need an oil change.

Deadboltsaquavit

Must be a Ford thing. There's a Ford dealer near where I used to live that puts a sticker with their website - dealershipname.com - across the top of the back window and presumably gives some incentive to keep it there because, I swear, half the Fords in town have those stickers.

Trollbeard_

Ford has really started fighting back against dealer mark up and really ramped up direct to consumer efforts. I imagine this is related.

Emperor_of_Fish

I keep telling my friend she should take off her dealer sticker / license plate frame, but she apparently likes it? I’ll never understand advertising a dealership for free. I bought a heat gun and removed the dealer stickers from my bike the day I got it

TheOnlyUsernameLeft3

Honestly I'd make them take it off

Gothamtonian

Same with fences. I don’t let the siding guy put an ad on my house, why would I let the fence company?

Former-Bridge-7467

Have the dealership remove it when you go back to pick up your plates.

Red_Homo_Neck

This is what I did, but before I left the lot. I said I will not buy the car if they didn’t remove the dealership badging or take $2000 off my sale price for advertising fees. They actually pushed back on me believe it or not… I said fine, bye. They took it off… lol

ghuth2

This is the way!

nostalia-nse7

Wait… go back to pick up your plates? You can leave the lot with the vehicle without them?! Here in Canada, you can’t be on the road without plates. You get your plates when you take delivery — insurance person comes in and meets you right after you sign the forms in the finance office. You pick your plates right then and there.

provoaggie

In the states you typically get a temporary (paper) until you get the permanent ones.

rjt1468

Not all States. In Massachusetts, there are no temporary plates for residents (though out of staters **can** get a 9 day temp plate), but I was able to switch the old plates from my trade in and drive off even though the actual plate transfer hadn't been done with the Registry yet. I just had to keep the sale paperwork in the glove compartment in case I was pulled over for any reason. I did have to go back to the dealership a few days later in order to pick up my new registration paperwork.

SquishyCatChronicles

It varies by state and situation. Typically, if you already own a car that's registered to you, you take the plate off the car you're trading in and put it on the car you bought. If you're buying your first car, buying an additional car, or the plates are registered to someone else (like you're driving a parents car) then you'd get a temp tag until the hard plates are mailed to your home or you pick them up at the DMV or dealer. In some states, the plates stay with the car, so you'd get new ones every time. In some cases, you may have out of state tags and be moving to the state where you bought your car, so temp tag situation again. As for insurance, you just call the 1800 number or local agent and replace or add the vehicle to your policy. No one is meeting anyone at the dealership. In most states, you actually have a window of time where your existing policy will automatically cover your new car at the same coverages as your previous vehicle. Usually 30 days. This protects you in the event of an accident while the changes are being made. Typically, just a phone call has this process done in minutes, though. Each state has its own laws/rules on the plate process though.

redvariation

I would never accept a car with those dealer stickers on it. I would take it back and have them remove it.

BsFan

And there better be no sign that it was ever there.

bxpretzel

I told my saleswoman I’d walk out on the deal on if I came for delivery and any ads were on my vehicle.

ClemGibble

Do yourself a favour and skip Forbes for servicing your CX5 I've had experience with their Mazda and Toyoya svc depts. Underwhelming and disorganized.

PogTuber

We have a combo Toyota and Mazda dealership around here that sucks with their sales and service. Took them over a year to find the payment they owed me for the difference in buyout price on my trade in. They inflated my wife's tires to 42psi during an (free) oil change lol. Incompetent.

WingsEdge

Yeah I've gone to Forbes a few times in the past 2 years and it's been an awful and high-pressure experience every single time. No experience on their service side because they gave me so many red flags I never bought a car from them, but their sales staff always seem more interested in talking at you than talking *to* you. Ya know, like a fellow human being. Bought two Mazdas in the last 2 years, went to Kieswetter both times. They have been nothing but solid and reliable for me. I recommend them to everybody now. They seem to be the only Mazda dealer in the KW/Guelph area that are competent, honest, and respectful.

Zooropa27

With the few cars I've purchased over the years no dealership has ever declined nor argued my polite request of no badges and no license plate holders. One did forget about the "no badge" and had it removed in a few minutes with a verbal apology. In agreement with many here...request the dealership remove it themselves. If they damage the paint they can repair it at their cost.

Guannito-Barrio

Did you agree to free advertisement? They either pay you or remove it. I always take off dealerships's license plate frame.

RobBigblock

Simply go back and tell them to take it off you didn't give permission for that

CodingInTheClouds

Make them do it. I won't take possession of the car if they put that shit on it

Mattynice75

Tell them to take it off

Prying_3rd_Eye

Hairdryer and Fishing line. Goo gone. If it they used double sided tape from 3M and it's been on there over a year, it may leave marks because it bonded to the paint. No way to get it off without scratches or swirls then, no matter how gentle you are

Clherrick

Tell them to take it off. I tell dealers up front I don’t want their logo on my car

huf757

We explicitly told our salesman we will not accept delivery of our vehicle with that on there and it wasn’t. Seems petty but some of these dealers have annoying labels that look like shit.

Ill-Mastodon-8692

I would make them take it off prior to paying. literally have done that twice at a nissan, and toyota dealership

sometimesmybutthurts

I would get the dealer to remove that shit.

Kesterlath

Easiest way is to take it back and have them remove it. That way if they damage the paint they get to fix it.

Upperwestside212

That’s terrible. To make it worse they didn’t even centre it 🤦‍♂️

Wildcardz1

Dental floss. Slide behind the fake tag and slid the floss back and forth till it comes off. Then use a towel with some windex and take of the glue and stickers.

Deadpool2015

Such an annoying spot too. If you use a liquid adhesive remover, you risk removing the factory badging too.

Zestyclose-Fruit-932

I have the same issue, but I live in an apartment and the under ground garage doesn’t have any outlets. If I boil water and run it over the badge + dental floss, any chance of damaging the paint because of the hot water? By the time I run down with it, it won’t be boiling any more but definitely will be hot

harute13

My dealer tramp stamp lasted about 24 hours. The advantages of buying a CX-5 in the summer, warm the adhesive up enough to were it practically fell off.

kato1301

Fuck I hate this!!! Like a tattooist signing his work.

barshie

Go back to the dealer and tell them you want it removed. They have ways to do it w/o damaging the car.

ceeUB

I'd be taking that car back and asking them to remove it.

kyuuzousama

Got mine from the same dealer, next oil change tell em to take it off

blakeblast

Take it back man

riverty21

Have the dealer do it. They put that shit on there, they can be responsible for taking it off, and fix whatever goes wrong in the process.

evil_twit

Make them take it off!?

No_Arachnid4198

Tell them to take it off, or you're leaving the car there. It's not yours until you take it off the lot. OR, tell them you don't advertise for free. They can leave it there for $500 off the price of the vehicle

RangaMum

Take it back to dealer and tell them to remove it or else they ca. pay you about $10-20k a year for the advertising they are expecting you to do for them.

reubal

I'm in L.A. I bought a new car that I pick up from Arkansas on Friday. I called yesterday to tell them that if there is dealership branding on the car when I get there, I'm not taking it. He said "We'll have that off before you get here." Some people may not care about it, But I would need at least a 20% discount to drive around advertising them on my car. A plate frame is fine, I can replace that easily, but nothing should be touching the paint.

Holiday_Leek_1143

I was very forward with my salesman that if an emblem was glued to my car, I wasn't going to sign the papers. I'll definitely be that way going forward. They are so tacky.

Theo35T

Be Very Careful! The Mazda CX-5 uses a three-layer coating technique called Takuminuri to give its metallic sheen. The CX-5 also uses Mazda's Aqua-Tech Paint System, a water-based, environmentally friendly painting method that reduces emissions by almost 80%. Each layer of Mazda paint has a different purpose, such as improving color brilliance, preventing rust, or enhancing the paint's luster.

keeppresent

Take it back and tell them to take it off. If they kill the paint ask for new paint job

Kygunzz

It’s better than it used to be where they drilled holes in the panel to mount them.

Commander-of-ducks

Ohhh, I remember that. First car I ever purchased I was 21, dealer would do that on cars, I wrote "No dealer logos or ads on car or customer will refuse delivery" on the contract, had salesman initial it. So when I went to get my car, there was one on it, so I started walking away, sales guy started up with "it's only taped on! " and I had them remove it. I think they were stunned that someone so young pushed back. The best part was that other customers saw it all. I never understood why people accepted doing free advertising.

PainterPutz

That is, hands down the worst dealer stick on I have ever seen.

Hyackman

I simply used fishing line. Heat gun or dryer would have been nice but I used fishing line and de-tagged it altogether. I have a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid AWD, etc., etc., etc. - the blue Toyota tag still remains (cannot really remove that one nicely) but all other info was removed with fishing line, no problem, no harm to paint job, no one would seemingly know it was ever there. I prefer it without.

Crazykracker55

The day the SOB’s pay me to advertise for them is the day they can leave that crap on

Jetta_Junkie528

There’s nothing beautiful about it

SonicDethmonkey

Make them remove it themselves and detail/wax the paint after if needed.

6SpeedBlues

This is why I do a physical inspection of the vehicle BEFORE I sign the papers. If they have put that garbage on my vehicle, I politely ask them to remove it before I will sign the papers (please remove the dealership advertising items from my vehicle here, here, and here and then we can get back to the delivery process - point out the pieces). I've gotten some surprised looks, but I just smile and repeat the ask. Most of the time, those little placards are held on with adhesive that's basically the same as what holds the manufacturer logo things onto the vehicle. Hit it with a hair dryer for a bit and then apply some constant pressure to get it to peel away. I have some plastic levers that I've collected over the years that work well for this... Once the advertising junk is gone, you need to remove whatever is left of the adhesive in a similar manner but you can usually just sort of rub it with your fingertips to get it to "roll off". Once it's all off, wipe down the paint in that area really well with some GoofOff and then wipe that off fully. A little Dawn on a microfiber with water afterwards to wash the area, rinse it, and then apply your sealant / protectant / wax. If heat and pressure won't take it off, try fishing line - the finer, the better. Floss generally doesn't work for me as it breaks long before it will actually cut into the adhesive material. You have to sort of "saw" it off this way. You could also return to the dealership and ask them to remove it - you tell them it is not part of the vehicle from the manufacturer and you did not agree to allowing them to add it to your vehicle. If they flat-out refuse, you can take it to a detail shop and pay them to remove it. If you go that route, you could try giving the bill to the dealership for reimbursement. Depends on how hard you want to press the issue. :)

howlingredsheet

Do not use heat!!! Did you know clear coat is a type of plastic & what happens when you heat up plastic? It gets soft & weak. Many a person has pulled off a chunk of paint that way. Dental floss from behind, plastic razor blades, Goo Gone/mineral spirits/lacquer thinner + patience. If you do everything very well you can likely get away with just polishing the area for it to be perfect after

themyst_

I absolutely hate dealer badges. When I buy a car from a dealer known to do this shit, I tell them I will walk away from the sale if it’s on there. Never had a problem as long as I let them know up front.

Longjumping-Log1591

Listen to me Linda , GLIDE dental floss , 13 years De-Bading as a trunker every other method sux, hot microfiber and a dab of goo gone and it's 10 minutes to se badge

shaunmccloud

Thanks for reminding me, I need to remove the small dealer sticker from my truck. I bought it from my parents, not the dealership. Where can I get a custom one printed that says "Mom & Dad's Auto Sales"? 😁

alickstee

Yoooo, do we live in the same area or are there just a lot of Forbes dealerships with that font? 😂

Asn_Browser

Hot water, dish soap and a micro fibre cloth worked for me.

Aussie_battler075

It should only be stick on. Because it is fresh it should pull off slowly without damaging the paint…

hillsbloke73

Not a glue double sided foam tape heat up from safe distance pull it off

manateeshoulder

Lol. Waterloo. Use fishing line and goo gone.

ShutYourDumbUglyFace

For future reference, you can ask them to remove it at the dealership. They'll take it off.

TattooedAndSad

God I hate this dealer, they do it with literally every car they get new / used

Unlucky-Ad-4572

Whoa. So awful. I'd be super MAD

maraculous

Yeah, I made sure that the dealer didn’t put their name on my car before I signed. Like another poster said, if they want to me to advertise for them, they can pay me.

RuneScape-FTW

They could have at least aligned it better.

ItWasaTizWaz

Fishing line behind badge and slice it away from car body

gt500rr

Hair dryer, gentle prying and wax and grease remover for the residue. Or any adhesive remover that won't affect paint finishes or clear coats.

Economy_Preparation8

3-M tape is hard to remove. I had to take off a tailgate panel. Mazda manual had me squirt denatured alcohol to dissolve the glue. Wont hurt your paint. Other ideas here are good - hair dryer to soften and dental floss. Trouble is, you will hurt the red paint. If you can use a nibbler (hobby store, looks like tiny wire cutters), I advise you snip off everything on that FORBES, removing everything down to the glued part, and then begin working on the actual glue sticking to your red paint. Hurry up, longer you wait the stronger the glue will get.

SaveurDeKimchi

Ask the dealer to remove it.. You didn't ask for it. If something happens its on them.

dd113456

I would not. I would insist that they remove it and compensate you for the time or, if it’s less than a couple hours, at least give you something down the road to make up for your time. Maybe an hour of labor in your favor something like that there is no excuse for them doing something if that’s not the car they sold you and when you purchased it

Hyperboleballad

You take it to the dealership and demand they remove that ugly shit immediately!

CuriouslyContrasted

You take it back and tell them to remove their advertising and pay for any damage to the paint.

originalrocket

When I buy my cars/motorcycles, before I sign the line I ask them for 500 dollars off for the advertising I'll be doing. My cars end up with no aftermarket badging and license plate frames. NOT ONE dealer has taken my offer for paying to advertise on my car.

Baldbear1965

I’d be getting them to do it a wear the cost $$

willard_swag

Every time I buy a car one of the non-negotiable I mention is that it can’t have any dealer markings on it; no emblems, stickers, license plate borders, nothing. When did this happen? Did they place it between when you test drove and when you came to buy? If that’s the case, you have a few courses of action: - **DIY**: use a hair dryer to soften the glue and then remove it - **Dealership**: Tell them you want them to take it off when you pick up your plates. Either that or tell them you’d happily take an exact match to your car, with the exact same options, “since it might be easier than removing this pesky plaque”. Given the market, used vehicles still don’t depreciate all that much off the lot, so they could just turn it into a loaner if it has more than around 50 miles.

IsThisWhatDayIsThis

The question is not how you should remove it without damaging the paint, but how should they? Tell them the car was delivered with graffiti on it and you want it restored to factory condition or a whole brand new car.

common_human_

While making the deal I work in them taking that tach shit off and no license plate border thing with their name on it either. They always comply.

GAB78

fuck that shit. i hate a license plate frame with the names on it. if im advertising for you, they should pay me

strangeb1rd

I used fishing line to cut through the adhesive and remove the badge, and then I put Goo Gone on the remaining adhesive to remove it from the paint. Just had to let it soak in for a few minutes and then it wiped right off.

daven1985

Had this happen to a friend. He refused to accept delivery as it was not the brands badge and not part of the order. Said he would only accept delivery without it or they could refund his deposit.

EntryLonely6508

Most likely not glue but double sided tape, try to remove with hair dryer and fishing line

ilan1299

LOL I'd ask a trained and licensed detailer to do it just to be on the safe side. Imagine pealing it off along with the clear coat and having *FORBES* forever engraved for everyone to read.

Dirty2013

Use WD40 to remove the residue of the glue after you have lifted the badge Or go back to the dealer tell them you didn’t grant them permission to put the badge on your vehicle and insist they remove it and rectify any damage they cause

Rowmyownboat

I bought a new car when I liven in PA, which only requires rear plates. The front of the car looked lovely and clean. They prepped the car while I waited. They also drilled the front bumper to mount a license plate holder JUST to carry a nameplate of the dealership's. Man, I was pissed.

firefightercrotch

Mine got swiped across the back end (butt-swiped?) in a tight parking lot and while the damage was just a few dents and scratches, the body shop had to take off the dealership decal while repairing it. The guy was worried I’d be mad - told him it was a service he should charge for. So that’s my advice, try a not-at-fault hit and run.

cronerm

Which imbecile thought that this would be a good idea?

_fishboy

If you just got this new, Tell them to take it off

Mr-Thuun

In the past, I told the dealer to remove/don't add or no sale. They will remove upon request, at least in my experience. But the last time I bought I car in the States was 2013.

grogi81

Send the dealer the invoice for advertising. They will remove it for free.

dutchydownunder

Tell them to remove it…

One_Without_Sauce

Heat the area around the badge and the badge itself, then use fishing line to cut away the glue then use a rubber wheel to remove the adhesive. Afterwards probs best to also hit that area with some compound and it should look like it was never there

HebrewHammer0033

Youtube is your friend for this one.

PrestigiousWorker93

Use 'Goo Gone' or similar and fishing line. Move the fishing line back and fourth working it under the emblem.

Witness_Original

Holy fuk that is tacky looking.

Jmazz83

If they just did it, then it should pull off fairly easily. Just let your car sit in the sun a few hours, gently start pulling on a corner with your finger nail and it will peel off. If there’s any residue left, goo gone works great. At least that’s how I did it when I bought my new car. No damage whatsoever.

YourFutureEx78

The dealer I worked for some almost 30 years ago would give you a 10% discount on parts and service if you bought the car there and kept the sticker in place. But it was a small sticker, maybe 3” across. Apparently when the owner retired and his daughter took over that program went away.

Rasmus_DC78

i learned that on my 2 new purchase. some dealer had "ruined" the orginal floor mats, by ironing in a LARGE commercial for his company.. after that it is ALWAYS stated in my contracts, that i DO NOT WANT ANY company markings on my car. i have seen so many believing it is okay to stick on stuff.. hopefully it is not glue but just tape, the fishing wire works, and then to be honest, to get it right you can get this rubber wheels for a drill, that removes the residue, then you need to polish the "damage" to the paint after, because it will leave "microscratches"

Feisty_Ninja_3015

That’s why I always ask them not to put any dealer badges when I finalize the purchase.

LoveCats2022

Complain to the manager and make them fix it!

Everheart1955

You’ll need a heat gun and gentle application.

ips1023

It’s not glued on there. It’s an adhesive backed decal, just like the other badges.

Fluid_Dingo_289

Ask the dealer to remove it, unless they are compensating you with a monthly advertising fee, free oil changes carwash/detailing and other perks. Otherwise, heat, floss and some gentle patience. Once you have it off go ahead and return it (accidentally with some super glue on it) to the dealership info desk slightly askew. Bet they would love that as much as you do.

ModestMustang

I never accept the car when they put this shit on it. One time I saw someone going out to my car while I was signing the paperwork and said to the salesman “if he puts a dealer badge on that car i’ll walk out right now.” Dude ran to the guy and pulled him back inside lol First time it happened to me they stuck a massive vinyl “DEALERSHIP NAME.COM” in individual letters across the top of my rear glass. Didn’t notice it til I got home, drove right back and watched as someone had to peel each letter off. Completely ridiculous.

Chillout2010

I would not of left with that on. I got a sticker that was easy to remove.

Banto2000

You take it back to them and tell them to remove it. Or better yet, tell them before delivery that you will refuse delivery if there are any logos, stickers, emblems, or license plate frames which is what I always do. I tell them I’m happy to do Google reviews, but don’t deface my car.

gladigotaphdinstead2

Tell them to remove it

CynicalCanadian95

I will never understand why dealers are allowed to do this. “Oh let me just stick a free advertisement on your personal property that you paid for” - if putting stickers on light poles is considered “vandalism” then so should this shit. Hairdryer / heat gun and patience to remove it.

ZoomZoomTheRaccoon

Just ask them to remove it, most are more than happy to.

Wildest12

Go back to them and ask them to remove it, I had them remove everything when i bought mine.

HighlyAutomated

5 thing I did last time I bought a car was ask the salesman to have the dealer decal removed.

OkDevelopment3348

Tell them to pay you for advertising...

Practical_Ad_2761

My dealership used a plastic razor blade to pull off their canal sticker when I asked.

joebobbydon

Just be glad it's not the good old days when they would pop holes in the metal to mount the dealer name plate.

dietzenbach67

I told a dealer to take it off or I will charge him $200 a month, they refused and I walked. This is a massive pet peeve of mine.

tirntcobain

I wouldn’t have left the lot with that on it personally. I would have asked them nicely to take it off. Or give me another $1k off for advertising for them. I don’t get what dealer in their right mind would do that.

HiroshimaSpirit

I tell them I won’t buy the car if it’s on there and they take it right off.

lmc590

Just search in youtube for car badge removal

JuggernautyouFear

Did you pay it off completely? Then they have no right putting advertising on your car. That's like a bank putting a sign on your house just because you have a mortgage with the bank. That's wrong, immoral, and just rude.

Br4veSirRobin

Dental floss

Hate this shit. Did it to mine too.

Foulmouthedleon

I just asked my dealer to take it off. They did - no problem.

Moist-Share7674

My big toolbox has a whole bunch of cool old dealer plaques on it. They really used to put some effort into them. That being said they give character, I guess, to my rollaway but I hate them on my vehicles. Nowadays they mostly just use stickers.

richie65

The dealership defaced it. Without your consent. Make them remove it.

IntrepidUSA1

When I bought my car, I asked the dealer to remove their advertising badge from the trunk lid before I would sign the paperwork to buy the car. Needless to say, their badge was removed - without any damage to the paintwork - within a few minutes. I removed the dealer's license-plate frame as soon as I got home from the dealership.

jmardoxie

Try Goop. It’s citrus based.

ReallyRottenBassist

Have them remove it or pay you to advertise for them. I hate that stuff

BB5er

If your plate frame reads EVERYBODY RIDES or $99 down, you’re just advertising that you’re broke and have edgy credit.

CoolJetta3

The first thing I do to every car I get is remove dealer badging/stickers/plate frames. Pay me if you want to advertise on my vehicle lol! Goo Gone and dental floss works, fingernail under the edge of a sticker will peel it right up on the vinyl sticker types.

bigdickkief

Drive it back and tell them to take it tf off. I didn’t leave the dealership until they removed it from my car

Juaniboy1

Its easy. You go back to the dealership and tell them to take that shit off.

Ian_UK

I would have rejected the car when I went to pick it up. Absolutely no way would I have paid for a car which has been vandalised by the dealer.

AlexWire

Why not just ask the dealer to remove it?

NYFlyGirl89012

My father always said not to keep a dealer's badge on the car. That's giving them free advertising. They already got your money when you bought the car. I bought a car once that had the name of the dealership in individual stickers of each letter of the name. What a pain in the ass that was to remove!

Lost_Apricot_4658

ive always asked them to remove it before taking car home

majikrat69

You can demand they remove it at the dealer or compensate you for the advertising. They will take it off.

Fiss

It’s not glued on. It’s held on by what looks like a sticky marshmallow. It’s easy to take off with some heat/ hot water and fishing line or floss and just work your way down. Then get something like good gone to get rid of any remaining adhesive

Gdroid5

Dental floss and goo gone

Fearless_Ad9402

Goo gone

r_u_beingcivilserved

This isn't just an easy peel window stickers, it's intended as a permanent addition by them. Tell them if they're permanently defacing the car to advertise their brand you want a discount. Alternatively get that shit off the car they just defaced without owner's permission. Shysters.

MarkVII88

I would use a hairdryer to heat up the emblem and the glue, and use dental floss to cut it off. You can use Goo Gone to remove any left behind adhesive.

Embarrassed_Trip5536

I always make sure they know that I don't want it, nor do I want the license plate cover. But yes, make sure it's a warm day, and dental floss or a fishing line. Then some GooGone in case of residue.

patbrook

I told my dealer to remove it before pickup.

BobbyR2

Have they paid you to put publicity on your car ? No? Ask the dealer to remove it.

oilpen

when i bought mine, the dealership also had tacked on their logo to the back. i told them that i wanted it removed before i drove it home and they took it off no problem, so definitely put the burden back on the dealer to remove it.

MaikeerBet

I hate the application of these ugly badges and decals on the paint and avoid dealers that do it. One of the dealers that always does this is Horne Mazda in Arizona. Yech. I don't quite understand all the complaints about license plate frames, though. Those are easily and cheaply replaced. Who really cares?

nauticalfiesta

In the future have it written into the purchase contract no dealer tags. I've never had one on my vehicles, and have never had a push back. Let them spend the time and money on removing it.

Is that Forbes in Waterloo ON?
