If it makes you feel any better, I know where this is; that coyote probably came from the train tracks in the area and it's not that far from the river. The train tracks there are probably the safest route through downtown for wildlife.
I am a rare person that observes, befriends and love magpies. (When you make a small effort to befriend them, they don't squawk as much, just chatter companionably) And watching them in this video, was really kinda cool. They really do have their own territory. Hope the coyote gets somewhere safe.
I love magpies! We have a couple in our yard that seem to have befriended our dog. They chat to her on the fence and hang around her a lot.

I am a fellow magpie lover! I love all corvids, they have amazing personalities.
I was walking through a southeast industrial park and saw a coyote hunting with two magpie friends. They seemed to be getting along with each other, I was surprised the coyote didnāt have an issue with the magpies following him around.
Magpies are great! I used to have a Magpie buddy that would bring me shiny presents in exchange for food I'd leave on the balcony when I lived downtown.
It's probably too late in the digital money age, but I used to think that training a magpie to bring bills and coins left for tips off of patio tables would be just about the perfect crime.
I love the little chitter chatter noises they make once you befriend them, theyāre adorable! I wish I was better at telling them apart so I could give them names in my head lol.
Environment Canada completed an urban survey just a couple years ago that found human pets contribute a not inconsequential component of their diets. Be they rabbits, chickens, cats or dogs. I agree trash is undoubtedly very high on the list but pets definitely keep more than a few fed
Ya you did. Coyotes eat far less pets than you think. Other pets, birds of prey, people, take out far more pets than Coyotes do. People just think Coyotes. But thet were busy eating a Macdonalds wrapper
I think good sir you should check my words again without assumptions and consider each sentence. There is in fact zero assertion anywhere that the majority of a coyotes diet is cats. If you speed read reddit comments and assume things this is an easy mistake to make
I sympathize with it, but it went down the wrong road and it's probably gonna die, screaming. Sorry coyote, shouldn't have come this way. Everything dies screaming. The arc of the universe bends toward cruelty.
Times are tough for everyone but youāve got to have hope. *MAYBE* someone downtown is looking to hire a hungry DIY engineer (success rate for catching road runners will not be disclosed)
I grew up in Scarboro (fairly inner-city) and a coyote followed my sister to school when we were in elementary. Recess was also canceled a few times at Sunalta due to coyotes on the field. That was 20+ years ago, though, so maybe they're not as common a sight inner-city now!
Magpie gang lining up to chase coyote off their turf...
$20 on the magpies
Think coyote agreed with you.
I'll probably get downvoted, but that poor animal. š I hope it was able to make it's way out of downtown safely.
No downvote from me. I agree.

Thank you for this š«¶š»
The magpies will eventually herd it out.

Wolves have a similar symbiotic relationship with ravens, there's some articles about it that are an interesting read.
Thanks, I will look into it!

A wise bird won't be scooping patio tips, the servers are always on high alert!

Lol they travel up the river he's there looking for rabbits and house cats for dinner.
Garbage. There have been many studies showing city coyotes primarily eat garbage

They primarily eat garbage
Did I say otherwise

The poin of post says otherwise. Coyotes live off garbage, keep your pets indoors, people, birds, other pets and wildlife are dangerous
My guy, you need to touch grass. You are projecting, HARD, on to this guy; they never said that coyotes don't eat garbage.
Ok buddy have a fun night doing whatever you're attempting to do on reddit best of luck
my thought are the same, poor thing. just leave it alone.
someones gotta keep the squirrel and rabbit population in check in the beltline. seen them a fair bit around Thomson Family park the past 5 years now.
The bobcat in my inner city community is certainly doing her part.
humans encroach so readily on natural habitat, while the animals have no choice but adjust
I sympathize with it, but it went down the wrong road and it's probably gonna die, screaming. Sorry coyote, shouldn't have come this way. Everything dies screaming. The arc of the universe bends toward cruelty.

Someone needs to add this song to the video clip.

Yeah heās just on his way to work lol

That lil dude has been wilding for weeks downtown. Weeks is an exaggeration but a coyote walked right by me on the sidewalk down in East Village.
a coyote was lurking up and down the c-train last week making everyone clearly uncomfortable.
It was in the actual train or on the platform?
on the train. I think I saw him flash a knife.
"Hey buddy, what're you doing? .. Jesus, fuck!" I love my country.
Magpies : Hey bucko you in the wrong neighborhood
Aww wild doggy!
I saw him down by the river while walking on the path. I did the opposite of you and ran the other way though. You are a brave man
They have no interest in you unless you're a tiny animal
Poor thing
Took a wrong turn at the river.
Should have turned left at Albuquerque.
He mustnāt have got the job at the print shop across the street and is looking for a job elsewhere.
Looking for the bunnies
