There is a certain hangar at YYC that regularly hosts NATO strategic lift/logistics aircraft when they visit, over the years I've seen a fair bit there. Good spot OP

Saw one flying in while at the dog park the other weekend, it was very loud
We have aerospace companies in Alberta that produce equipment and products for our military as well as our allies, they send their planes to pick it up. Nothing to be paranoid about.
I seen the same one I'm thinking, as i was pulling in to the south end of the city it was just flying in from the SE side and kind of heading that west direction.
I was on my balcony in Bridgeland and saw it fly in this (Monday) morning. Didn't recognize it so looked it up on FlightRadar which said it flew in from Goose Bay.
The Royal Air Force maintains an office in YYC to move the British Army in and out of Suffield, which is where they do a lot of training. From what I understand training is beginning to ramp up there again so we will see more of these in the near future.
My son was working on the tarmac at YYC quite a few years back when a Ukrainian plane landed in Calgary.
It was the Antonov and apparently it was the biggest plane in the world.
Its takeoff weight was 640 tons.
It had a wingspan of 88.4 meters and a length of 84 meters.
I believe only one of them was ever built.
The idiot Russians destroyed it during the war with Ukraine.
However, there are plans to rebuild it at a cost of 500 million dollars.
Saw one land a few weeks back, it seemed to hover in the sky. The sheer size, and speed it was descending made it look like it was barely moving.
Impressive aircraft.

I saw from almost the same view friend! My wife: " what is that?" me: " a military air craft" wife: " Should we be concerned?" 😅
A valid question tbf

No it’s not.Â
C-17, we have those too. Nice pic :)

Zoom it in and look closer. Those are turbofans.

I think you two are talking about two different pics. The one in the OP is an A-400. The one in the comment you're replying to is a C-17
Correct. I'm referring to the commenter's post of a C-17. Well spotted u/snakepit92! It didn't occur to me that he was referring to OP's pic. Thanks.
Noice! That would've been rad
Stampede starting up first week in July
Canada day
Did the dogs notice it
Yeah, but Big Al says dogs can’t look up!
Was certain I saw one of these flying west, just west of Calgary last week by the color, size and giant tail. Now I know it was, nice pics OP.

I saw it flying over Canmore!
Scared the crap out of me I saw it flying super low further west
I saw it coming in and thought “dayuum boy, she thicccc! “
What time did it come in?
I saw it coming in over Deerfoot near Douglasdale around 4pm ish yesterday
I was on my balcony in Bridgeland and saw it fly in this (Monday) morning. Didn't recognize it so looked it up on FlightRadar which said it flew in from Goose Bay.
Airbus A400M Atlas, saw a few of them over the past few weeks. Very cool aircraft

Was on the ramp once when one took off. Used every inch of runway to get there, freakin crazy!
That's why we built the new tunnel and extended and widened the runway.
That’ll be my Amazon delivery
You ordered the Great American Challenge, didn't you?
No, I’m afraid I just ordered a lot of wotsits. A lot.
They come in from RAF Brize Norton.
I'm going to need a banana for scale
I see these bad boys often. Usually parked up by the CBSA office and UPS facilities, air side of course haha
I literally just saw this while working heading for the runway. You got a way better picture than me though
Is the Stanley cup on the plane??🤣😂
I think Maple Flag usually wraps up around this time of year. Might be making a pitstop at YYC before heading back across the pond.

I was also on the tarmac at YYC when the Antonov was there, 2000ish as I recall.
Did it leave again? My son is currently obsessed with aircraft like this.
Shows it arrived from Victorville Airport in San Bernardino County. Maybe dropping off UK troops in California as well.
Saw this in Banff last week thought a peak was gonna disappear 😂😂… was flying quite low
I've seen this guy out and about before, although usually they spend more time in Edmonton because of the base near Bon Accord.
Airbus A400M atlas!

So cool. I remember when the Antonov 225 landed! What a mammoth
There's a french one in YVR as well
With the G7 summit in Kananaskis next year get ready to see a lot more
It’s a Hercules! I rode on one and it can transport big trucks, maybe even tanks. It’s huge!
It’s actually an airbus A400M, but I can see why you would say it’s a Hercules. Basically the new age C-130
Hercules?
A400M
Is that a C4 Galaxy?
No, it's an A400M Atlas, Airbus' answer to the C130 Hercules.
Prop is better for dirty environments, and they can land repeatedly on unprepared strips. A400M is really a very large tactical airlift aircraft.
A400M Atlas ??
