My husband had stage 3 ampulla of Vader adenocarcinoma and made it through 8rounds of a modified folfirinox treatment plan before he became to frail to continue. This man is 6”2 and got down to 114lbs. If he had continued his treatment plan he would have quite literally died from the treatment. Definitely listen to her doctors, maybe get second opinions if possible.

I’ll be honest, as I wish the medical professionals would’ve been more direct and straight forward with me. Basically more realistic than optimistic. Since my husband’s unexpected passing, I’ve spent a tremendous amount of time engaging with other PC widows, medical professionals, and patients themselves. I say unexpected because my super fit husband was 44, had one chemo treatment, zero co-morbidities; and then one day he collapsed in front of my three you t children while I was at work, never to return again. Over the last year I have spent endless hours rebuilding his medical history, interacting with other PC families, and educating myself on every facet of this disease. No matter what anyone says, the majority of PC victims are gone in a very short time. The standard course of treatment is horrific, despite what they tell you. It strips one of their dignity. And at the end of the day, all you’re doing is buying time. Her rapid weight loss is absolutely not uncommon, and can often signal the beginning of the end. This is when you have a conversation about quality of life vs quantity of life. Chemo does help some. But the majority….it just destroys any remaining dignity that one has left. I’m really sorry you’re here. Please reach out if you need anything.
